Texas AG Paxton slaps Biden admin with lawsuit over use of CBP One app: 'Pre-approving more foreign aliens'
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is suing the Biden administration over a newly-implemented asylum rule, arguing that the use of a controversial CBP One application is being used to circumvent federal law. The rule presumes migrants to be ineligible for asylum if they have entered illegally and have failed to claim asylum in a country through which they have already traveled.

The lawsuit targets a rule that was proposed earlier this year, and went into effect as the Title 42 public health order ended earlier this month. Paxton’s lawsuit argues that the administration is attempting to circumvent federal law by processing migrants who should otherwise be removed.

Former Tory Leader O'Toole Says Special Rapporteur Johnston Ignored Info He Gave on Election Interference
Former governor general David Johnston, appointed by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to investigate foreign election interference, did not use information from former Conservative Party leader Erin O’Toole to draft his report on interference in Canada’s last two federal elections. O'Toole had alleged that interference activities carried out by the Beijing regime cost his party seats in the 2021 election. Johnston will provide the government with a number of reports on his investigation, the first due May 23, with advice on whether a public inquiry is necessary. O’Toole said his meeting with Johnston was a "box-checking exercise" and failed to have an impact.

Republican Kari Lake's campaign to challenge the 2022 governor's race defeat has been rejected by an Arizona judge. Lake's team failed to provide evidence of misconduct or lack of proper verification for early ballot signatures, leading to Democrat Katie Hobbs's win in the race. Although Lake may still appeal the decision, the court "confirmed" Hobbs's election, ending Lake's legal challenge.

Casey DeSantis Is 'Lady MacBeth.' Jill Biden Is a Doctor. Got It?
Politico compares Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' wife to Lady MacBeth, despite previously arguing the "Lady MacBeth trope" reinforces gender roles that make ambitious women suspect. Meanwhile, Republican political wives are often portrayed as either victims or nefarious influences on their husbands, while wives of Democratic politicians are considered feminist icons.

The move also follows the success of The Matt Walsh Show on Twitter, which achieved 7.4 million views and gained 140,000 followers in less than a month. Twitter is viewed as "the largest free speech platform in the world", according to co-CEO Jeremy Boreing. All nine podcasts, including The Ben Shapiro Show and The Dr Jordan Peterson Podcast, will stream on Twitter from 30 May. Boreing said he could see The Daily Wire investing more into the platform if Elon Musk continues to uphold free speech.

THESE FBI actions may be WORSE than the Durham report
Rep. Jim Jordan and Glenn Beck discuss the inexcusable actions taken by the FBI in launching an investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia with no evidence or probable cause. Jordan believes there is a lack of oversight, and that the focus should be on getting the full truth to the American people. Beck expresses concern over the Capitol Police expanding their role and turning into an intelligence force with new offices in Florida and California, funded by an increase of $46.3 million in their budget. Both men remain hopeful due to the American people's common sense and access to alternative media.

McCarthy Signals House May Call Off Recess to Deal with Debt Ceiling
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy may cancel the House's recess next week to deal with the debt ceiling. McCarthy believes it's more productive to be present in Congress if "the voters vote for you, and lend the voice to you." He also believes a default is avoidable if the Senate passes the Limit, Save, Grow Act, which was passed by House Republicans last month. McCarthy is "very confident" the US will not default next week.

American Thinker: The easy way to identify the Loony Left
The easy way to identify the Loony Left
Leftists are easy to identify by their speech patterns, which often involve incoherent and repetitive phrases. The new radical left chants phrases from Trotsky's diatribes against the West, and this behavior is usually restricted to the streets and college campuses. However, Democrat Nebraska state senator Michaela Cavanaugh has upped their game with a 3-minute floor speech that is difficult to follow.

Washington Free Beacon: Teachers' Union 'Triggered' After Republican Lawmaker Brings Educators Donuts
Teachers' Union 'Triggered' After Republican Lawmaker Brings Educators Donuts
Republican delegate Amanda Batten dropped off 83 dozen donuts to 19 schools in Virginia to express gratitude to educators for Teacher Appreciation Week, but the Virginia teachers' union felt that her presence triggered some employees. The union was upset that Batten used campaign funds to feed the educators and she received blowback after teachers noticed a "Paid for and Authorized by Friends of Amanda Batten" message on the boxes. The controversy led school officials to tell Batten that future food donations would be turned away due to their "political nature." Some believe this is related to a Virginia teachers' union encouraging educators to defy Republican governor Glenn Youngkin's ban on "woke" education with a "week of action" toolkit.

While other Democrats have avoided criticizing Biden's age, Clinton openly expressed concerns about his mental and physical fitness after he stumbled during the G7 Summit in Japan. She praised his record but admitted that his age was a concern and suggested that people have the right to consider it. Although Clinton hopes that he can stay focused and win reelection, Biden's accelerating mental and physical decline raises questions about his ability to perform the duties of president.

The American Mind: The Role of Technology in Family Formation
The Role of Technology in Family Formation
The lack of family formation due to falling birthrates, delayed partnerships, and technological advancements is a pressing problem for young Americans. Online pornography addiction, social media, and online dating have exacerbated the family formation crisis by rewiring brains, inhibiting social maturity, and encouraging casual relationships. Online dating prioritizes looks and leads to cognitive overload, objectification, and harassment, while some dating companies are incentivized to keep users on for longer. The underlying spiritual crisis and neglect of the boy crisis has made us vulnerable to technological manipulation.

France has reaffirmed its commitment to the plan, which entails a series of bilateral guarantees within a broader multilateral agreement, ahead of the launch of the Ukraine NATO Council at a summit in Vilnius in July. The United States would serve as the primary guarantor, working alongside European NATO members.

GOP Lawmaker Seeks to Block US Taxpayer Dollars From Funding CCP-Affiliated Entities
Republican lawmaker John James introduced the "No American Tax Dollars to CCP Act," a bill that would prohibit US taxpayer dollars from funding companies with ties to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). James cited the example of the Gotion project in Michigan, which received approval for $175 million in state money for a $2.4 billion electric vehicle battery project. James believes that allowing taxpayer money to go to such projects ultimately aids the CCP in its goal of becoming the preeminent global economy and military by 2049. The bill would also target other foreign entities of concern such as Russia, North Korea, and Iran, and would seek to improve American energy independence.

Banning Native Logging Risks Fuelling More Illegal Logging Activities: Industry
Native forest logging will become illegal in Victoria, Australia, in 2024, six years earlier than planned. The centre-left Andrews government announced a $200m ($132m) package for timber workers to transition away from logging in native forests for wood pulp, bringing the total funding for the transition to more than $875m. The change is expected to affect 900 workers, including 366 sawmill workers, and logging sector figures have warned of the possibility of illegal logging, leading to the loss of thousands of jobs and putting a strain on the country’s wood supply. The department in charge of the sector, the state-owned logging agency VicForests, has suffered a record loss of AUD52.4m ($34.73m) in the 2021-22 financial year after legal injunctions stopped logging.

Rape Victims’ Sexual History Should No Longer Be Used as Evidence: Law Commission
Plans to overhaul the use of evidence in sexual offences trials have been proposed by the Law Commission in England and Wales. The reforms are aimed at limiting the impact of rape myths and improving the treatment of complainants, while ensuring defendants receive fair trials. The proposals include stopping the use of previous sexual histories of complainants, unless deemed necessary, and preventing defence-based access to non-relevant personal materials. The use of claims for compensation to cast doubt on a complainant’s credibility would also be restricted. England and Wales is the only part of the UK requiring complainants to give evidence in public.

The inquiry also recommended introducing fully funded specialist therapeutic support for victims of sexual abuse, a measure that the government has said it will consider through ongoing engagement and consultation. The inquiry also called for more robust age-verification requirements for online services, with shadow home secretary Yvette Cooper describing current measures as "long delayed and watered down".

Illinois AG plans to discuss findings from 4-year investigation into alleged sexual abuse by Catholic clergy
Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul to discuss his office’s investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of children by Catholic clergy in the state going back decades, following a four-year-long probe. The church's own investigation was found to be lacking and dioceses did not release names of at least 500 accused clergy. The preliminary report found that the church had done a poor job of investigating allegations and in some cases didn't investigate them at all or notify the state’s child welfare agency. Allegations were made against some priests who had since died.

The Madigan report pointed out that the overall list of accused clergy was far longer than the church had made public. Only 26% of allegations raised against clergy members were deemed to be "credible," while the remaining 74% were either not investigated or deemed to be unsubstantiated. The investigation stated that church leaders sought to work against the accusers, using their personal information to discredit them and their accusations. The Catholic Church in Illinois expressed regret at the time about the abuse but pointed to steps they had taken.

Fishing 411: Smallmouth Explosion
Smallmouth Explosion
The smallmouth bass has exploded in numbers and range across the Great Lakes region, thanks in part to the accidental introduction of the zebra and quagga mussels, which have created a better environment for the species. Clearer water and increased light penetration have allowed for greater expansion of aquatic plants, offering an exceptional habitat for smallmouth bass and important forage species. The round goby and crayfish have also played important roles in the thriving smallmouth bass populations, making them one of the hardest fighting fish that swims. Fishing pressure is modest, and since smallmouth bass are not widely regarded as good table fare, they are released unharmed to fight another day.
