A group of around 400 teenagers responded to a social media call to cause chaos and disrupt a family-themed carnival honoring the military near Chicago. The final day of the Armed Forces Weekend Carnival was cancelled due to safety concerns after a flash mob incident occurred. One police officer was injured, but was subsequently released from the hospital, according to the Village of Tinsely Park Public Safety Facebook post. The kids were released back into the custody of their parents with five teenagers being issued citations for public fighting. The village manager said "the village will not give up holding events such as the carnival in the future".

The president of the Vatican’s Pontifical Academy for Life, Cardinal Vincenzo Paglia, announced that the Catholic Church will accept laws supporting assisted suicide for those considered to have an incurable pathology or intolerable pain to facilitate the “greatest common good”. This contradicts Catholic teachings which call euthanasia “murder” and preclude assisted suicide, even if a patient requests it. Paglia’s comments sparked immediate criticism, with the John Paul II Academy for Human Life and Family calling for his resignation. The Cardinal’s remarks have been seen as part of Pope Francis’ tactics to expedite doctrinal change and remold the Catholic Church into an ally of secularist, materialist, globalist utopians.

Daniel Penny's attorney, Thomas Kenniff, has denied claims made by Jordan Neely's family attorney that Penny believed he had the right to take someone's life. During an interview, Kenniff refused to engage in a back-and-forth with the opposing attorney and called the claims "absurd". Penny was involved in a situation on a New York City subway where he attempted to subdue Neely, who had introduced a frightening, threatening environment into the carriage. Neely later died from his injuries.

South Carolina woman, Jamie Lee Komoroski, accused of driving drunk and killing newlywed bride Samantha Hutchinson, received special treatment at Charleston County jail thanks to Sheriff Kristin Graziano. Komoroski was able to meet with family members in person despite the jail's policy of online video chats only. Komoroski faces charges of killing the bride and seriously injuring the groom, and has complained about her accommodations at the jail.

Bisping and Vettori put Steve-O and Stevewilldoit in a rear naked chokehold, knocking Steve-O unconscious. Bisping retired from the sport with 30-9 record over 39 matches with 18 knockouts, two victories by submission, and 10 by decision.
