The Epoch Times: GOP Miami Mayor Francis Suarez Praises Dem NYC Mayor Eric Adams for Illegal Immigration Stand
Miami's Republican Mayor, Francis Suarez, praised New York City's Democratic Mayor, Eric Adams, for speaking out about how the influx of illegal immigrants is affecting the city. Both have voiced concern over a lack of federal support for their cities in handling the situation. Adams has criticized Republican Texas Governor Greg Abbott's strategy of busing illegal border crossers, who have been released from federal custody, to "sanctuary cities" that do not cooperate with federal immigration authorities. Adams would like to see the burden of asylum seekers shared across the country, rather than being concentrated in a few cities.

The Epoch Times: The G-7 Kowtow Communique to Communist China
G-7 leaders recently issued a weak communique in response to China's economic and military aggression. This has essentially kowtowed to China, allowing them to continue their hostile actions unabated. Despite China's numerous abuses, including the military buildup of a fascist state, arming Russia, and the cultural genocide of Tibet and the destruction of Christian churches, G-7 leaders have been reticent to take strong action due to their own compromised positions and overdependence on China .
President Joe Biden identified himself during the G-7 meeting as being reluctant to take aggressive actions toward China, due to both Xi Jinping's flattery and their personal and financial relationships with the country. The one notable exception in the group is Japan, which has been directly targeted by Chinese economic and military actions, but even their appeals for stronger action were ignored. Overall, the weak response of G-7 leaders has failed to address China's growing aggression, leaving the world without a strong leader to stand up for freedom and democracy .
Fox News: Biden admin announces 'historic' plan to reduce western states' water supply
Seven western states have agreed to conserve at least 3 million acre-feet of Colorado River system water by 2027 amid severe drought conditions, according to the Department of the Interior. The agreement ensures that 40 million people, seven states, and 30 tribal nations that depend on the river for basic services such as drinking water and electricity will have access to critical supplies. The conserved water will be compensated through funding from the Inflation Reduction Act, and voluntary, uncompensated reductions by the three lower basin states.
Democrats' climate and tax legislation signed last year will fund 2.3 million acre-feet of the conserved water, while voluntary, uncompensated reductions by the three lower basin states will account for the remaining water. Glen Canyon Dam in northern Arizona and Hoover Dam in southern Nevada control water flows from the respective reservoirs to the lower basin states, both of which have severely dropped in levels due to drought conditions, threatening vital water supplies and hydropower-generated electricity for tens of millions of Americans. Despite the agreement, the Department of Interior's draft Colorado River conservation proposal was withdrawn, and the agency vowed to advance conservation guidelines for 2027 and beyond in the coming months.
Fox News: Hillary Clinton says Biden's age is a legitimate issue: 'People have every right to consider it'
Hillary Clinton acknowledged concerns surrounding President Biden's age, stating that it is a legitimate issue. She made the comments when questioned about Biden's stumble at the G7 Summit in Japan. Biden is the oldest president in American history and will be 81 on Election Day.
The Epoch Times: ANALYSIS: ‘Slippery Slope’: Experts Warn About Pitfalls of Central Bank Digital Currencies
Digital privacy experts warn that governments could use central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) to track payments and restrict civil liberties. While digital currencies could help with automation and taxes, global research suggests that implementation of CBDCs must go hand in hand with democratic oversight mechanisms and protecting individuals' privacy. While Canada's Bank of Canada is consulting on CBDC design, and 120 countries are exploring the use of CBDCs, including China's digital yuan, experts fear that government use of digital currency technology could expand surveillance state tactics, such as freezing bank accounts, along with implementing social credit scores that prohibit or limit spending based on citizen-spending choices.
Daily Wire: When Can America Expect Charges Against Hunter Biden?
The Justice Department is accused of retaliating against an IRS whistleblower investigating Hunter Biden, according to a letter from the whistleblower's attorneys. The supervisory special agent and his team working on the fraud probe into the president's son were told they would be removed at the DOJ's request. Such action would not only be "clearly retaliatory," but could also constitute "obstruction of a congressional inquiry," the lawyers warned. Their client has evidence of "inappropriate influence" at the highest level of government being exerted to protect Hunter Biden, according to the Federalist's CEO Sean Davis.

The Blaze: State Dept. offers free therapy to personnel 'triggered' by glitch that 'misgendered' employees with wrong pronouns
The State Department accidentally "misgendered" employees with a new IT feature allowing them to add preferred pronouns, leading to confusion and distress. Fox News: Professor hurls students' pro-life display after profanity-laced tirade: 'triggering my students'
A Hunter College adjunct professor threw items off a pro-life student group's table, saying they were only spreading "propaganda" and accused them of triggering other students. The professor, Shellyne Rodriguez, is a writer and community organizer who focuses her work on "strategies of survival against erasure and subjugation." The school is aware of the incident and said it is taking the matter seriously, opening an investigation into Rodriguez's actions. The PSC Graduate Center, a labor organization, defended the professor's actions, calling them "justified," and accusing the pro-life group of "dangerously false propaganda."
National Review: Target Partners with Satanist Brand to Create Items for ‘PRIDE’ Collection
Target collaborates with Abprallen, a clothing brand that sells Satanist merchandise, to create products for its “PRIDE” collection. Target previously sold three Abprallen items but only the “Cure Transphobia, Not Trans People” sweatshirt remains for sale. The company also sells items adorned with violent messages, including “We Bash Back” and “Homophobe Headrest”. The Target “PRIDE” collection includes baby onesies and children’s clothes with rainbow patterns, shirts, and books that promote LGBTQ+ content.
The Epoch Times: Florida Bathroom Requirements to be Based on Biological Sex
Florida has passed HB 1521, which requires bathroom use to be based on biological sex and outlines proposed requirements for the use of restrooms and changing facilities which will be determined exclusively by gender. The law strictly prohibits anyone from entering any facilities designated for the opposite sex, and applies to all restrooms and changing facilities in K-12 educational institutions, detention facilities, locker rooms, and all public buildings. The law defines sex as “the classification of a person as either female or male based on the organization of the body of such person for a specific reproductive role, as indicated by the person’s sex chromosomes, naturally occurring sex hormones, and internal and external genitalia present at birth,” and will take effect on July 1st. Complaints against covered entities who fail to comply will face penalties including revocation of licensure or regulatory disciplinary action, and fines of up to $10,000.
Red State: Super Woke Target Partners on Its New Gay Pride Line With Designer Who Insists 'Satan Loves You'
Target has partnered with a UK-based satanist designer for its new "Pride" collection, which includes a "Cure Transphobia" sweatshirt and other related items. The designer, Abprallen, mixes its affinity for satanism with pro-LGBT activism. While rational-thinking adults have the right to treat themselves however they want, shoving the views of a super-minority group in the face of a majority of Americans, and worst of all, children, is obscene. Target has had an established diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) strategy for many years but it just joined a long list of corporations to put their "woke" beliefs ahead of customer loyalty, profits, and shareholders. Breitbart: Woke Vs. Woke: Uber Places Diversity Boss on Leave After Employees Freak Out over Event on 'Karen' Stereotype
Uber's Head of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Bo Young Lee, has been put on temporary leave after employees expressed backlash for an event she moderated called “Don’t Call Me Karen,” which focused on the negative connotations of the stereotype about white women. Outraged employees felt the event minimized the experiences of minorities, leading the company to announce Lee's leave. The controversy demonstrates how wokeness impacts companies in Silicon Valley.
The event moderated by Bo Young Lee, who is herself an Asian woman, was intended to be a dialogue and open and honest conversation about race. However, the focus on the term "Karen," which now denotes a privileged and entitled white woman, left some employees feeling lectured about the challenges faced by white women and believed the event was minimizing the existence of racism and the harm it causes to minorities. Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has been steering the company away from its previous aggressive culture and towards more diversity and inclusivity, making the backlash an example of how wokeness impacts Silicon Valley companies.
Fox News: Bud Light buying back unsold, expired beer from wholesalers as sales continue to suffer: Report
Bud Light will buy back unsold cases of beer that have gone past their expiration date to help wholesalers who have taken a hit after backlash from its partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. The beer company sent packs of Bud Light featuring Mulvaney’s face to celebrate a full year of "girlhood," and its promotion is now considered one of the most polarizing in the history of the digital space. Retail sales of Bud Light in the U.S. were down 23.6% compared to a year ago, and Anheuser-Busch is reportedly taking steps to undo the damage from the Mulvaney marketing campaign.

Euromaidan Press: NATO countries may offer Ukraine Israeli-type security guarantees – WSJ
The US and Western allies are offering Ukraine an Israeli-type security model instead of NATO membership to guarantee Ukraine's sovereign future and boost its defense, as long as NATO membership is not on the table. The security model is based on the Kyiv Security Compact and includes guarantees for weapons and advanced technology to stop Russia from another invasion. Discussions on the security guarantees for Ukraine are ongoing, and officials from several European countries agree with a security agreement that includes a multilateral arrangement within bilateral guarantees.

Fox News: China summons Japan ambassador to rebuke G7 summit 'camp confrontation and Cold War mentality': report
China's Vice Foreign Minister Sun Weidong summoned Japan's ambassador to China to protest against the "hype around China-related issues" at the G-7 summit. Sun reiterated Beijing's resentment for remarks made during the Hiroshima Summit in Japan. He added that matters related to Hong Kong, Xinjiang, and Tibet are purely internal affairs and no external forces should be allowed to make irresponsible remarks and arbitrarily interfere. He also warned that Taiwan is the "core of China's core interests" and accused the US-led bloc of "camp confrontation and Cold War mentality." Sun demanded that Japan "correct its understanding" of China.
The G7 summit leaders called on China to honour its commitments under the Sino-British Joint Declaration and the Basic Law, which enshrine rights, freedoms, and a high degree of autonomy for Hong Kong. They also voiced concerns about human rights in China, including Tibet and Xinjiang, where forced labour is of major concern. In addition, they warned that China's "accelerating build-up of its nuclear arsenal without transparency (or) meaningful dialogue poses a concern to global and regional stability." Furthermore, Chinese military aggression in Ukraine was condemned, calling on China to press Russia to stop its military aggression and immediately withdraw its troops from Ukraine.

The Epoch Times: Delinquency Rates Inching Higher as Inflation, Interest Rates Hit Consumers
Delinquency rates are rising in the US due to high inflation, negative wage growth, and rising interest rates. The overall serious delinquency rate rose to 1.08% in the first quarter, with credit card debt delinquency reaching 4.57%. The only type of debt to record a drop was student loans. Younger borrowers are disproportionately affected, with the credit card delinquency rate for consumers aged 18 to 29 at 8.3%. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Survey of Consumer Expectations (SCE) revealed that the mean probability of being unable to make minimum debt payments over the next three months stood at 10.6% in April.

Daily Wire: ‘Exhausting Slog,’ ‘Glaringly Fake’: Critics Shred Disney’s ‘Indiana Jones 5’
The fifth installment of Indiana Jones is not faring well with critics. Though Harrison Ford still has his trademark swagger, the writing is small and the movie is a bloated mess with endless chase scenes and phony CGI. Some reviews said that they're not sure how many fans want to see Indiana Jones as a broken, helpless old man who cowers in the corner while his patronising goddaughter takes the lead.
Daily Wire: Actress Melissa McCarthy Said A ‘Volatile, Hostile’ Set Left Her ‘Physically Ill’: ‘There Were People Weeping’

She plays the villain in the upcoming live-action version of “The Little Mermaid,” and expressed frustration about the difficulty of making comedies while speaking with The Observer. She believes comedies allow people with differing ideas to come closer together. McCarthy has won several awards in Hollywood, including two Primetime Emmy Awards and nominations for two Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.
Spectator USA: Bringing back Stephen Sondheim and enduring a new Andrew Lloyd Webber
Andrew Lloyd Webber's Phantom of the Opera ends its 35-year run on Broadway, marking the end of an era. However, his musicals have continuously run on Broadway for 44 years, with Bad Cinderella being his latest show. While the show boasts a lush score and sumptuous set design, its overall structure loses momentum in the second act, leaving fans uncertain about the future of Lloyd Webber's magical run on Broadway.
In the revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street on Broadway, Josh Groban gives an unforgettable performance as Sweeney, while Annaleigh Ashford steals the show as Mrs. Lovett. Sondheim's great accomplishment in the production is drawing out real tragedy from its whimsy. Meanwhile, the musical tragedy Parade tells the true and abhorrent story of Leo Frank, but its attempt to elicit audience sympathy for the people of the abhorrent South ultimately falls short leaving the audience uncertain about the point of such a politically charged musical.

The Epoch Times: Strong Legs Increases Your Chance of Surviving Heart Attacks by 41 Percent
Strong leg muscles can prevent heart failure after a heart attack, according to a new Japanese study presented at Heart Failure 2023. A long-term analysis of 932 heart attack patients found that those with below-average quadriceps strength were almost twice as likely to develop heart failure. The researchers found that high strength levels in the quadriceps were associated with a 41% reduction in risk. The study should be replicated, but its authors suggested that resistance training involving the quadriceps muscles could become a routine recommendation for heart attack patients to prevent heart failure.
National Review: The Corner: Hey Biden, Mitts Off of Menthol Cigarettes
The Biden administration is expected to ban menthol cigarettes in the fall under the guise of reducing tobacco-related health disparities. The ban is being criticized by small-government types and racial-advocacy groups, who note that menthols are most popular with African Americans, and that the rule will bring law-enforcement agencies to the doorsteps of said persons. This sort of hand-swatting is perhaps best understood as Granola Supremacy, the idea that crunchy liberals are endowed with superior insight into how one should live.
Flavored tobacco is unhealthy, yes, but it is not the federal government’s place to say that a product, unchanged in all respects except its flavor, is no longer allowed. The menthols ban is a gross abuse of federal power, but the abuse is directed at a product that most people either don’t care about or that they're fine with prohibiting because they dislike smoking or have a class aversion to it. Personal taste should not decide whether government overreach is acceptable. How absurd it is to ban flavored custard because kids might develop unhealthy diets or because of people's particular hankering.

Forbes: Real Madrid’s Vinícius Júnior Exposes La Liga’s Brand After Spain’s Latest Racism Episode
Real Madrid's winger Vinícius Júnior called out racist taunts he received during a match in Spain, citing the country's racism problem. He accused the league of not doing enough about the issue, expertly adding that "it's not football, it's La Liga," using the league's own strapline to make his point. La Liga president Javier Tebas denies claims of racism and insists the organization is doing what it can, but such incidents highlight an endemic issue in Spanish soccer that requires action beyond simple fines. The league can be more proactive in challenging the existing structure for dealing with incidents and handing out punishments, for example, a referee abandoning a game, and be more honest about the problem, beginning to tackle it from a position of power.

The Epoch Times: Do High Top Shoes Actually Reduce Ankle Sprain Risk? Here’s What the Research Says
Ankle sprains are common in sports and can lead to ongoing ankle problems. High-top shoes may not significantly reduce sprain risk and can impede athletic performance and cause ankle sprains due to changes in muscle use. External supports are effective when combined with preventive exercise programs. Proper footwear fit is crucial to prevent falls and osteoarthritis and promote natural foot function. Shoes must be selected based on function, with high-tops suitable for static activities and low-tops better for sports with frequent stops, jumping, and sudden direction changes.

Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri criticised the action, tweeting that it was "enough of these absurd attacks on our artistic heritage" and the fountain's cleanup would "cost time, effort and water, because this is a fountain which uses recirculating water".
