Townhall: The Biggest Victims of the Border Crisis Are Mothers and Children
Title 42 has expired, leading to unchecked illegal immigration and putting women and children at risk. The lax law enforcement has emboldened violent cartels to traffic them, and unaccompanied minors become tragic pawns for bad actors on the border. The journey of many migrants is horrific, with women and children subjected to assaults and left to die in harsh conditions. The border crisis affects every state as violent criminals and terrorists can come and go as they please, and our government has created a market for despots to inflict atrocities against humanity. Moms for America has called for lawmakers to declare a state of emergency and address the crisis, as securing our border is crucial to protecting mothers and children.

The Federalist Papers: NAACP Issues Travel Advisory Against State of Florida For Black People
The NAACP issued a travel advisory against Florida, citing discrimination against minorities by Republican Governor Ron DeSantis’ administration. The group expressed concern over policies that criminalize protests, limit teachings on Black history, and counter initiatives promoting diversity and inclusion. DeSantis recently enacted a law prohibiting public colleges and universities from allocating funds to programs that focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The advisory will remain in effect until the situation changes in Florida.
Daily Wire: Republican Mega-Donor Bails On Trump, Will Back DeSantis For President In 2024
GOP megadonors, including Robert Mercer, Rebekah Mercer, Steve Schwarzman, Ken Griffin, and Ronald Lauder, have no plans to financially support Donald Trump's 2024 White House bid. Hal Lambert, the founder of Texas-based Point Bridge Capitol, who previously supported Trump, is now backing Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis. Lambert thinks Trump will struggle to win the general election and wants the GOP to move forward with a new generation of leaders. He believes DeSantis would offer a greater contrast to 80-year-old President Joe Biden on the debate stage.
The Epoch Times: Sunak to Consult Ethics Adviser Over Suella Speeding Course Claims
Home Secretary Suella Braverman sought advice on arranging a private speed awareness course after being caught speeding in 2022, according to a Sunday Times report. Braverman allegedly asked Home Office officials and a political aide to assist her when civil servants refused her request. Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has said that Braverman should resign if she has breached the ministerial code, however, former Cabinet minister Jacob Rees-Mogg suggested there is no need for an investigation. The Prime Minister has spoken to his ethics adviser about the matter, but retains confidence in Braverman.
Breitbart: Sen. J.D. Vance Endorses GOP’s Bernie Moreno for Senate in 2024 Ohio Primary
Senator J.D. Vance endorses businessman Bernie Moreno's campaign for the U.S. Senate, making him the likely GOP nominee for the Ohio Senate race in 2024. Moreno promises to fight for America First values, secure the southern border, and combat China. He will face off against long-time incumbent Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown, and the GOP views this race along with those in West Virginia and Montana as crucial to their chances of retaking the majority in the U.S. Senate next year. Moreno's business background allows him to self-fund his campaign, but he has also demonstrated fundraising prowess above and beyond expectations.
The American Spectator: State Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh Breaks Down While Defending Minor Sex-Change Surgery
State legislator Machaela Cavanaugh had an emotional outburst during a session, chanting a mantra about the acceptance of trans people. She banged on the podium, teared up, and repeated her mantra without offering any substance. A fellow senator was caught on video looking bewildered before eventually leaving the room. The incident highlights the lack of reason and rhetoric in politics, even at the legislative level.
Breitbart: CA Democrat Senate Candidate Barbara Lee Calls to Pack Supreme Court
Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) called for packing the Supreme Court by adding new seats and filling them with liberal justices, joining other Democrats in their effort to counter the Court's conservative majority. Lee's call came during a press conference in Oakland, where she described the court's current situation as beholden to an "unethical, unaccountable conservative majority." She is running for Senate and is one of many progressive voices calling for Congress to expand the Supreme Court to restore public trust in SCOTUS.
Fox News: Wall Street Journal schools Biden on 14th Amendment over debt ceiling: ‘He may be confused’
The Wall Street Journal criticized President Biden's threat to invoke the 14th Amendment in order to raise the debt ceiling. The editorial board argues that the Treasury has enough revenue coming in each month to avoid defaulting on its debt and that Biden does not need to distort the meaning of the 14th Amendment to do it. The paper also asserts that letting the Treasury default would be a self-destructive act that would violate the 14th Amendment.
The article claims that Biden may be "confused" about the consequential amendment and notes that Congress has the power to issue new debt, not the president. The editorial board explains that Section 4 of the Amendment ensures that Treasury cannot repudiate debt held by the public issued in Treasury bonds and notes. Furthermore, Yellen must prioritize debt repayment once statutory federal outlays exceed federal revenue; otherwise, it would violate the 14th Amendment. The board concludes by insisting that there is no reason for the US to default on its debt held by the public and encourages Biden and Speaker Kevin McCarthy to negotiate a debt ceiling deal.

Breitbart: Ukraine Doesn't Meet NATO Membership Requirements, Says Olaf Scholz
Germany's Chancellor Olaf Scholz has said that Ukraine does not currently meet the necessary requirements to join NATO. During a meeting with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky in Japan, Scholz downplayed any possibility of an expansion of the American-led NATO alliance into Ukraine. However, the meeting was successful in securing additional military aid commitments, with President Biden committing to send another $375 million in American tax dollars to the war zone, and giving the go-ahead for Western allies to supply American-made F-16 fighter jets. Scholz made it clear that for the future there will also be talk about security guarantees, which will include how strongly the West will equip Ukraine with weapons.
Even if Ukraine were to theoretically fulfill all NATO membership requirements, the country still faces an uphill battle in joining NATO, given that accession requires unanimous support from all member states. Hungary, for instance, has had sour relations with Kyiv over the treatment of ethnic Hungarians living in the Transcarpathia region who were cut off from Hungary following the Treaty of Trianon. Relations have remained tense between the two neighbouring states following the Russian invasion, with Prime Minister Viktor Orbán being one of the few Western leaders expressing desire to end the conflict quickly, even if this is at a cost to Ukraine. Hungary recently announced that it would block another package of EU military aid to Ukraine after reports alleged that Ukraine had made plans to blow up the Druzhba oil pipeline connecting Russia to the country.
PJ Media: Russia Finally Takes Bakhmut... Now What?

The Epoch Times: 2 Quebec Suspected Chinese Police Stations Received Over $400K in Federal Funding Since 2010: Records
The RCMP suspects two Quebec-based charitable agencies of being undercover Chinese police stations and they have received over $400,000 in federal funding since 2010. The Centre Sino-Québec de la Rive-Sud and Chinese Family Service of Greater Montreal have received grants and contributions from Employment and Social Development Canada, with the CSQRS receiving over $284,895 and the SFCGM receiving $123,750 between 2018 and 2021. Both organizations are overseen by Montreal-area city councillor Xixi Li. The RCMP is investigating and has received “15 serious tips,” according to RCMP Sergeant Charles Poirier, and is encouraging “all the victims and witnesses of illegal activities” to report them.
The Epoch Times: A Prayer for the Victims of the CCP
Individuals can help persecuted individuals in China by being aware of the situation, constantly reminding leaders in the West, and engaging in prayer. Despite the Chinese communist regime's disregard for human rights and the rule of law, international voices – especially those of citizens – have proven to have an impact, as shown by the collapse of the Soviet Union. In addition to Magnitsky legislation and greater scrutiny of the regime, people can contribute to the global crescendo of voices through prayer for the people of China during the third annual week of Global Prayer for China, an initiative of a network of Christian legislators from around the world.
Breitbart: EU Fines Facebook Record €1.2bn for Mishandling User Data
Meta, the owner of Facebook, has been fined €1.2 billion by EU regulators for transferring European data to the US, despite a court order to cease doing so. These transfers were described as "systematic, repetitive, and continuous". The fine is the largest ever issued, exceeding the €746 million fine given to Amazon last year for violating the EU's General Data Protection Regulation. Meta has stated it will appeal the "unjustified and unnecessary fine" and request a court order stay in the meantime. This comes amid an increasing crackdown by the EU on Big Tech firms and their compliance with EU regulations on hate speech online .
The EU has implemented a mandatory oversight on 19 of the world's largest online platforms, including Facebook, under the Digital Services Act. The act seeks to police the internet for offensive content, and any platform with over 45 million EU users is required to face a heavier level of regulatory compliance. Failure to implement the required censorship regime by February of next year results in potential fines of up to six per cent of global revenue and potential ban from the EU. Germany is already fining Twitter for alleged failures to remove "illegal" content .
National Review: The Corner: Biden: ‘Then This Silly Balloon’ Flew Over the United States…
President Biden discusses relationships with China, Japan, and ROK. He mentions the need for an open hotline and the agreement with China at the Bali conference. He characterizes the spy balloon incident as "silly" but previously highlighted the serious threat it posed to sensitive military sites. NBC News reported that China was able to gather intelligence from several military sites despite U.S. efforts. This raises questions about whether Biden is ignoring important security concerns for political gain.

The Epoch Times: US Will Run Out of Money to Pay Bills by June 8: Goldman Analyst
The US Treasury is expected to run out of money to service payments around June 8th according to a Goldman Sachs economist, giving lawmakers time to raise the debt ceiling and avoid the risk of a default. However, the treasury’s closing cash balance has fallen from $143.31bn on May 11th to $57.34bn on May 18th. Also, rating agencies have warned about a possible downgrade if the US misses any payments. With only a few weeks before the X-date arrives, lawmakers have yet to reach a deal on raising the debt ceiling, with some asking President Biden to invoke the 14th Amendment to prevent a debt default.
The Epoch Times: Toyota Finds Improper Crash Test in Daihatsu Production
Toyota's subsidiary Daihatsu copied safety test results for part of a vehicle instead of conducting new tests, affecting 56,111 Toyota Raize hybrids and 22,329 Daihatsu Rocky, all sold in Japan and produced by Daihatsu. The company suspended shipments while investigating the issue.
Toyota exposed 2.15 million users in Japan, including those of Lexus, after their vehicle data was publicly available for a decade due to human error. Details included vehicle locations and identification numbers of vehicle devices. The automaker has apologized and plans to introduce a cloud system to audit settings and educate employees on data handling rules.
American Thinker: Debt-ridden Chinese cities face brutal cutbacks
The Chinese city of Hegang is facing brutal spending cuts to keep up with interest payments on its local government debt. Residents are struggling with a lack of heating, job cuts, salary delays, and rising expenses. Hegang is just one of many Chinese cities facing this issue.
Goldman Sachs estimates that China’s total government debt is about $23 trillion, including hidden borrowing of financing companies set up by provinces and cities. The central government may have to ask banks to roll over local governments’ debts to keep things stable in the short term, but over two-thirds of cities may not be able to repay their debt on time. This highlights the inherent danger of governments borrowing, instead of paying as they go, as it leaves future taxpayers with no political representation.

Spectator USA: Martin Amis’s confrontational genius
Martin Amis, a genius of English prose, had a career spanning 50 years, which is rare for a novelist. Though he fell out of fashion towards the end of his life, his work will make a comeback and continue to impress intelligent and worldly readers. His first four novels, The Rachel Papers, Dead Babies, Success and Other People, disrupt conventional novelistic conventions and point towards his future path. His later novels, such as Money and London Fields, are considered masterpieces, but his ventures into historical fiction were out of tune with the prevailing principles of well-researched accuracy, avoidance of humor, and a horror of anything resembling playfulness.

Red State: Artificial Intelligence & Gun Detection: The Cutting-Edge Technology That Could Stop Mass Shootings
AI technology is being developed to detect and prevent mass shootings in public spaces. Omnilert's Artificial Intelligence Gun Detection software can detect real weapons and alert authorities, providing the potential gunman's location and picture. Evolv Technology's weapon detection system is also being used in some schools, but the company has been criticized for exploiting fears of shootings to sell their technology and reports of flaws in the system. While AI technology has potential, its effectiveness and use must be closely monitored to prevent it from being used for nefarious purposes.
