The Canadian Home Builders’ Association estimates a 30% decline in housing starts following interest rate increases last year. Governments have been blamed for adding costs to homes, as a $1.1 million condominium in Vancouver now includes $327,565 in mandatory charges, fees, permit costs, and taxes.
