Red State: The Country Is on Fire and Robert Gates Wants Us to Get Along With the Arsonists
Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates believes the biggest threat to the US is political polarization, not China, Russia, or climate change, according to an interview he gave on “Face the Nation”. Gates pointed out the level of meanness and lack of civility among the country's politicians and the sense that anyone who disagrees with you is an enemy during the interview. Some question how it is possible to find a bipartisan way forward with those defending irrational ideas based on a lack of common sense. The current political climate introduces a new level of polarization that Gates feels is the biggest threat faced by the US to date.
Spectator USA: Why won’t conservatives ask Trump tough questions?
Democrats' plan for President Joe Biden's re-election is to trick Republicans into nominating Trump, while Republicans' conservative media is working to ensure Trump gets the nomination. However, the only thing conservative media learned from Trump is how to grift supporters to prioritize their own bottom line above their country. Trump didn't achieve anything during his presidency, despite his campaign promises on immigration, and if he had self-awareness, he wouldn't run. Unfortunately, neither Trump nor conservative media cares about the country.
The Epoch Times: Whistleblower Says FBI Has Created 'Orwellian Atmosphere' to Silence Dissent
FBI Special Agent Garret O’Boyle accused the bureau of creating an “Orwellian atmosphere” that stifles dissent and retaliates against whistleblowers. O’Boyle testified before the House “Weaponization of Government” panel last week, claiming that the FBI engaged in smear campaigns against him and others who came forward with allegations of misconduct. He argued that too many agents are unwilling to speak up against the FBI’s wrongdoings due to fear of retaliation, which reinforces a “moral dilemma” in the agency. Democrats dismissed O’Boyle’s accusations, referring to the committee hearing as another Republican attempt to support former President Donald Trump.
PJ Media: Trump’s Social Media Company Sues Washington Post for Defamation
Trump's social media company has filed a defamation lawsuit against the Washington Post, seeking $3.78bn in damages. The suit claims that the paper made false criminal charges against Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), which owns the Truth Social platform. TMTG argues that the accusations exposed them to public ridicule, contempt, and distrust, causing damage to their business and reputation. This follows a similar lawsuit from Donald Trump against CNN, alleging that they made false statements resulting in harm to his reputation. The lawsuit sought compensation for damages caused by "false and defamatory" coverage dating back to 2016.
Fox News: Trump tears into ‘The View’ co-host, ex-aide Alyssa Farah Griffin in online tirade: A 'sleazebag' and 'loser'
Former President Trump called ex-aide and "The View" co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin a "sleazebag" and "loser" on Truth Social after she criticized his CNN town hall performance. Griffin worked as the White House communications director under Trump but resigned in December 2020. In August 2022, she said, "As somebody who regrettably worked for Donald Trump, I do not want to see that man ever be president again." Trump also accused CNN and "The View" of wanting to fire Griffin for criticizing him but did not provide any evidence.

President Biden made a gaffe during his Asian tour by referring to South Korea's leader as "President Loon" instead of Yoon Suk Yeol. He also referred to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida as "president" on multiple occasions and made mistakes in discussing the deficit and tax policies.

Spectator USA: Mass shootings won’t change Serbia’s gun culture
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić plans an anti-gun rally and crackdown as a response to two mass shootings, which have led to the deaths of 17 people, mostly children. However, the issue may prove difficult to tackle as weapons are a core part of Serbian culture. The Epoch Times: Meteorites Found in Canada Cannot Be Removed From the Country Without Permit
An American museum is interested in buying parts of a meteorite that landed in New Brunswick in April 2019, after offering a $25,000 reward for the first one-kilogram meteorite found. However, a Canadian law means the transaction would require an approved export permit. Chris Herd, curator of the University of Alberta’s meteorite collection, observed that this would involve someone who finds a meteorite first completing an export application that would be reviewed by an expert examiner. If deemed to be “of potential outstanding significance and national importance”, cultural export reviews would examine the application. Failure to obtain the right permit could mean fines of up to CAD25,000 ($18,500) and five years’ imprisonment.

PJ Media: Fountain of Lies: Climate Crazies Dye Trevi Fountain Black
Climate alarmist activists dumped diluted vegetable charcoal into Rome's Trevi Fountain, turning the water black in a demonstration against fossil fuels and supposed climate change. Despite floods in Italy being cited as justification, there is no objective evidence that these are caused by climate change. The climate apocalypse is not imminent and climate change "experts" have been consistently and wildly wrong in their predictions for 50 years. Climate alarmism includes elements of hatred for Western civilization and such demonstrations attack priceless art and architecture for a cause based on lies.
