Russia's army is improving its tactics on the battlefield in Ukraine, with better basic infantry tactics, fortifications, artillery, armour, and electronic warfare capabilities. The Epoch Times: Russia Opens Far East Port Vladivostok to China
Russia has allowed China to use its far eastern port of Vladivostok, which it has occupied since 1860, as a strategic exchange between the two nations amid tensions in Ukraine and around Taiwan and the South China Sea. The move will make transport costs significantly cheaper and allow trucks to travel a much shorter distance from China's Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces. Vladivostok was China's territory, named Haishenwai, in the 13th century and was later annexed by the Tsarist Russian Empire in 1860. The opening of the port shows Russia's need to strengthen its political, economic, and military cooperation with China under the strong sanctions of the West.

The move follows US sanctions issued amid the war between Ukraine and Russia and includes tighter restrictions on companies and people involved in the war effort.
