The American Spectator: The New York Times Discovers Congressional Ethics
The New York Times editorial board has called for the expulsion of Republican Rep. George Santos, who was indicted on charges relating to his campaign finance. The board claims that he has "scaled heights of corruption heretofore unseen on Capitol Hill." However, the editorial has been criticized for not mentioning Democrats' unethical behavior, such as Rep. Adam Schiff lying for years about the Russia collusion hoax and President Biden exaggerating his background. Every congressman who has been expelled from the House since the founding of the republic was a Democrat, leading some to argue that the Times' demand is politically motivated.
The American Spectator: Harry’s Ghost, Like Obama’s, Talks Too Much
Ghostwriters should remain as ghostly as possible, but in the cases of Prince Harry and Barack Obama, the ghostwriters insisted on being seen. J.R. Moehringer, the ghostwriter for Harry's memoir, talked extensively about his experience with the prince in the New Yorker. Meanwhile, Obama's memoir Dreams From My Father was likely ghostwritten by Bill Ayers, who injected his own rage and style into the book.

The American Spectator: TikTok’s Viral ‘Heaven’s Receptionist’ Offers Nothing but Moral Therapeutic Deism
With 1.2 million followers on TikTok, Miss New York Taryn Delanie Smith's videos as "Heaven's Receptionist" have gained a following for their friendly, positive and therapeutic messages about heaven. But as columnist Casey Chalk points out, the faux-religion espoused represents the moral therapeutic deism that is prevalent among people seeking to be told that kindness is the most important quality and that God's priority is emotional and material "health." However, the divine figure presented is a reflection of self-projection, stripped of the values and teachings that traditional religion offers, leading to domesticated, unthreatening and uncontroversial 'God-talk' empty of moral challenges or biblical piety.
Chalk argues that focusing on our own subjective visions of heaven and God without deeper guidance from religious teachings ultimately leads towards self-worship, trivializing God and reducing religious truth claims to mere emotivism. Disregarding moral commands and consequences weakens societal bonds and corrodes social structures, as empirical data suggests the disastrous impact of out-of-wedlock births on children. A more critical approach towards religion that assesses its claims regarding the transcendent and provides guidance for moral living rather than subjective emotional perks, challenging human flaws and limitations, would counter this development.

Forbes: No Room For Both In The Permian – Oil And Gas Versus Nuclear Waste
The Permian Basin is set to reach record crude oil and gas production this month, with some forecasts expecting steady growth through to 2028. However, the plans of the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission to permit the building of a nuclear waste storage site in the middle of the Delaware basin, part of the Permian region, have sparked concern over the potential for environmental and health issues. Despite the NRC giving the go-ahead, the Governor of New Mexico has passed legislation that “prohibits public agencies from granting permits for a nuclear waste disposal project”.
