Federal agencies, particularly the FBI, need to reform their surveillance powers in light of recent revelations of repeated abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which enabled warrantless searches on foreigners and “backdoor searches” on Americans. Democrats and Republicans in Congress agree that Section 702, which expanded FISA powers in 2008, should be reformed to protect civil liberties and prevent abuses. Members of Congress have threatened to not reauthorize FISA authorities, but have not followed through. However, the recently unveiled ruling highlights the need for significant changes to FISA to prevent the FBI from routinely using the law for domestic criminal investigations.
Fox News: Texas AG Ken Paxton launches probe into Texas Children’s Hospital over 'gender transitioning' procedures
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is investigating Texas Children's Hospital over their "gender transitioning" procedures after a similar probe into a separate hospital conducting such procedures. Paxton released a Request to Examine ("RTE") as part of the investigation, requesting 25 types of documents to be made available to the AG's office by June 19, 2023. The documents requested include policies and procedures of TCH's use of puberty blockers on minors in the state of Texas and development, assessment, and reassessment of TCH's policies and procedures concerning the use of puberty blockers on minors.
The Texas Children's Hospital probe follows a similar investigation into Dell Children’s Medical Center looking into the hospital's "gender transitioning" procedures on children just a few weeks prior. Texas lawmakers have passed Senate Bill 14, which would prohibit transgender youth from getting puberty blockers and other hormone therapy needed to transition and seeks to "wean" patients currently receiving such care off of the treatments in a medically appropriate manner. The bill is headed to Republican Gov. Greg Abbott's office after a 19-12 vote.

Philippine Vice President Sara Duterte resigned from the ruling Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD) Party due to "execrable political powerplay," but did not disclose the exact reason behind her decision. Duterte won the vice-presidential election in 2022 and joined the party in November of that same year. Duterte’s departure is seen as the latest case of political maneuvering in the country and comes after congresswoman Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo was demoted from her position as the House of Representatives senior deputy speaker to a regular deputy speaker.

Fox News: Get ready for RightWingGPT and LeftWingGPT
Data scientist David Rozado has teamed up with political philosopher Steve McIntosh in an effort to counter the political bias in artificial intelligence (AI) by creating a language system that gives a range of viewpoints. Rozado found that 14 of 15 political orientation tests used by ChatGPT gave left-leaning answers, despite the system denying political bias. Rozado hopes to “depolarize” society through new project DepolarizingGPT, jointly developed with McIntosh, by combining three models — RightWingGPT, LeftWingGPT and DepolarizingGPT — to provide different perspectives to readers.
The models are made up of the works of prominent intellectuals, including conservatives such as Thomas Sowell and Roger Scruton. McIntosh and Rozado will incorporate a range of viewpoints to provide users with alternatives to their own and will aim to challenge the idea that the left and right exist independently of one another. OpenAI warns that more capable AI models may have a “greater potential to reinforce entire ideologies, worldviews, truths, and untruths.” The project aims to launch in July to combat AI weaponization.
