G-7 to Issue ‘Candid’ Response to China's Economic Bullying at Hiroshima Summit
G-7 leaders focus on economic security by outlining measures to counter Beijing’s coercion without cutting ties with China. The leaders are expected to announce a common set of tools to confront China’s hostile targeting of countries such as Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Lithuania, with supply chain resilience and technology protection being key elements. Additionally, the leaders will propose a strategy to boost infrastructure investments in underdeveloped countries in response to China’s Belt and Road Initiative and promise to build diverse and resilient supply chains for clean energy. The G-7 communiqué will be the first to include Taiwan, and some disagreements linger.

Fox News: Reports reveal the risk for strokes is on the rise in young adults
Reports reveal the risk for strokes is on the rise in young adults
Doctors are seeing more strokes in adults under 50, and while researchers are still looking for answers, a Houston doctor says changes in lifestyle, including poor diet and lack of exercise, could be contributing factors. The American Stroke Association reports that the incidence of stroke among adults ages 49 and younger in the US has continued to increase over the last 30 years, with about 15% of all strokes occurring in this age group. Doctors caution younger people to know the warning signs for a stroke: face drooping, arm weakness, speech difficulty, and time to call 9-1-1. The pandemic may also be a contributing factor due to neglect and decreased access to healthcare.

Fox News: Lawmakers reveal AI concerns over 'future of humanity' following OpenAI CEO's Senate testimony
Lawmakers reveal AI concerns over 'future of humanity' following OpenAI CEO's Senate testimony
Lawmakers in Congress voiced their concerns about the potential risks of artificial intelligence (AI) as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman highlighted the problems it could create, including China's domination of the AI race and the loss of control over the technology. Republicans Rep. Mike Gallagher and Rep. Kat Cammack said they feared China would further its ambitions of global domination, while Cammack expressed her concern about the political bias in OpenAI's ChatGPT. Meanwhile, Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman suggested Congress should ensure guardrails are in place for the technology, and Rep. Anna Paulina Luna expressed her worries about AI's lack of empathy.

Altman also told Congress that he was concerned about AI being used to create one-on-one interactive disinformation and its impact on jobs. He said he hoped Congress would effectively regulate AI, while Bowman suggested the federal government create its own AI. However, some lawmakers, including Gallagher and Luna, were concerned that regulating the technology could threaten the US's AI dominance and that other countries would pursue it regardless. Gallagher said the US was "fueling its own destruction" by allowing American investors to invest in Chinese AI companies like Baidu.
