Texas Governor Abbott Sends Bus Full of Illegal Immigrants to Denver - The New American
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has sent a bus full of 41 illegal immigrants to Denver in the latest move to ease the pressure on Texas border communities facing an influx due to President Biden's "reckless open border policies". Abbott previously sent busloads of immigrants to New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Washington, D.C. - all sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants - stating "Texas’ overwhelmed and overrun border communities should not have to shoulder the flood of illegal immigration." Denver mayor Michael Hancock, a Democrat, called the bus arrival "partisan gamesmanship", whilst estimating that his city had taken in around 10,000 illegal immigrants during the current crisis. Hancock also pleaded for federal help and warned he might send Abbott a bill.

Chasten Buttigieg accuses Republicans against trans ideology of being motivated by ‘clout, clicks and cash'
Chasten Buttigieg accuses Republicans and conservatives of being motivated by "clout, clicks and cash" in opposing trans ideology. Citing statistics, he says 40% of homeless children are LGBTQ, and half of trans-identifying children will attempt suicide. He is promoting his book in a national tour and downplays the disagreements, accusing conservatives of raising a lot of money off hate and divisiveness. Republicans have moved to limit gender-affirming care, arguing minors cannot consent to the procedures, which they have described as mutilation and chemical castration.

Red State: Beyond Partisanship: FBI's Abuses Affect Americans on All Sides
Beyond Partisanship: FBI's Abuses Affect Americans on All Sides
The FBI has been conducting illegal surveillance on Americans during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot and George Floyd protests, violating the Fourth Amendment. The Bureau has been using a warrantless surveillance program called Section 702 to collect communications of foreign individuals and American citizens or residents without a warrant. The FBI abuses on both sides of the political divide should serve as a wake-up call to Americans to demand accountability and reform across political lines. Hash tag:

Things Are Getting Bad at Fox News: Network Reportedly Lays Off Entire Unit of Journalists
Fox News has dissolved its investigative unit, resulting in layoffs, with reports suggesting that the move is related to a legal battle with Dominion Voting Systems, which is suing the network for defamation over allegations of rigged voting machines. While the New York Daily News suggests that the unit was reorganized and that the reduction in staff had nothing to do with the Dominion lawsuit, Rolling Stone highlighted internal tension at Fox News and suggested that executives are being protected at the expense of rank-and-file journalists. The network announced in May that its ratings had fallen to their lowest level in nearly 20 years.

The central government has stated its firm stance against bailouts, meaning that debt defaults are inevitable. This financial stress includes issues such as deteriorating revenue structures, uneven financial resources between regions, and the widening gap between fiscal expenditure and revenue.

The Epoch Times: 'You Should Go to Jail': DeSantis Warns Doctors Who Perform Child Sex-Change Surgeries
'You Should Go to Jail': DeSantis Warns Doctors Who Perform Child Sex-Change Surgeries
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has passed legislation allowing minors to sue doctors who perform irreversible sex-change operations and transgender surgeries. Not only has such treatment been outlawed by Senate Bill 254, but medical professionals who undertake such procedures can be prosecuted for sterilising minors who do not consent. Past victims of these procedures can now sue the doctors who performed them as they “violated the Hippocratic oath” and used “evidence-based medicine” to justify their ideologies. DeSantis branded some rogue medical professionals as ideological and warned that it is “fundamentally wrong in the state of Florida.”

IN-DEPTH: Misdiagnosis of Gender Dysphoria in Patient With Mental Health Issues Led to Reassignment Surgery
Richard Anumene underwent gender reassignment surgery despite multiple comorbidities from a mental health perspective. Anumene's attorney argues that these conditions should have disqualified him from the procedure and that he was wrongly diagnosed with gender dysphoria. The lawsuit against Kaiser Permanente describes the situation as an "atrocity" and raises concerns over gender-affirming care and misdiagnosis. Anumene subsequently detransitioned and now faces a lifetime of treatment. The issue sheds light on the lack of support for detransitioners and raises questions about the long-term effects of gender reassignment surgeries.

Accurate Identification of Mushroom Poisoning Sources Through Fungal DNA Sequencing
Dr. Calvin Chong Yeow Kuan discussed the application of fungal DNA sequencing to accurately identify sources of mushroom poisoning at a conference in Hong Kong. DNA sequencing has been used to identify 88% of known species and 12% as a genus, providing additional information in 76-80% of cases compared to traditional methods. This technology can also be applied to plant poisoning, and future research will address the issue of multiple fungal species, improve testing methods and develop rapid genetic tests for death cap mushroom toxins.

National Review: New York Mayor Unveils Plan to Fight Retail Theft — with ‘Kiosks’
New York Mayor Unveils Plan to Fight Retail Theft — with ‘Kiosks’
New York City Mayor Eric Adams unveiled a plan to curb retail theft that includes "diversion programs" for non-violent offenders, training retail workers, and installing resource kiosks in stores. Additionally, authorities will establish a repeat offender program and retail theft task force to keep track of recidivism and facilitate stronger prosecutions. The kiosks aim to benefit underprivileged community members through government resources and social services. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg expressed support for the plan, adding that the "retail theft has increased city-wide and nation-wide since the pandemic." However, his progressive policies, such as bail reform, have faced backlash for fueling the crime wave. Critics have also scrutinized his charging of Daniel Penny, a white marine veteran, with manslaughter in the death of black and mentally unstable criminal Jordan Neely, who was harassing subway passengers. Some argue that Bragg should have brought the case to a grand jury to assess Neely's actions and determine that the incident was not racially motivated.

Deepfakes, AI-generated content created to make it appear as though real people are saying or doing things they haven't, are becoming increasingly popular among criminals looking to commit fraud, sow discontent and obstruct investigations. Pindrop, which provides other tech-based security solutions to insurance companies, banks and healthcare providers, has partnered with a number of industry insiders to study the best ways of detecting such content, now used to manipulate the unsuspecting via email, fake urgent phone calls and loss of personal data. According to CEO Vijay Balasubramaniyan, AI-generated content is an increasing threat to individuals' privacy and security, adding that the problem can only be tackled through increased vigilance among consumers, paired with a software detection system.

The Epoch Times: These Are the Best and Worst Airlines in the US
These Are the Best and Worst Airlines in the US
American airline passengers have given their carriers a C+ grade in the 2023 North America Airline Satisfaction Study from JD Power, meaning decreased overall satisfaction with US airlines compared to the year before, on a 1,000-point scale. The number reflects a seven-point drop since 2022, for the second consecutive year of souring sentiment. The only exception was felt by first- and business-class passengers who experienced improved service satisfaction in the past year. The satisfaction of 7,774 passengers who flew between March 2022 and 2023 was measured across eight areas by the consumer research firm. Results showed top grades went to JetBlue Airways Corp, which for the second year running won the title of best overall airline for passenger satisfaction in the first- and business-class segment. Southwest Airlines Co took the top spot as the best carrier for economy travel.
