The Epoch Times: 'Journey of Hope': Couple Takes Lady Liberty Statue of Hong Kong on Cross-Canada Honeymoon Trip
'Journey of Hope': Couple Takes Lady Liberty Statue of Hong Kong on Cross-Canada Honeymoon Trip
Parkie Li and his wife, Angel, took their honeymoon trip across Canada to raise awareness of the situation in Hong Kong. They showcased a replica of the Lady Liberty Statue of Hong Kong in many cities across Canada. During their “journey of hope,” they aimed to connect with local Hong Kong communities and those who had to flee their homes after the Chinese regime clamped down on the autonomy of the former British colony. The couple organized protests outside Chinese consulates to raise awareness of the Chinese Communist Party’s threat and interference on Canadian soil. ( )

The Hong Kong anti-extradition protests led to massive protests between the years of 2019 and 2020. The Chinese government stifled peaceful assembly and imprisoned protesters. During their trip, Parkie and Angel Li brought together diaspora groups to call for the release of pro-democracy activists arbitrarily detained in China. The couple's Lady Liberty Statue of Hong Kong was exhibited in various locations, including outside the Chinese Consulate in Toronto for a memorial ceremony honouring the victims of the Tiananmen Square massacre on June 4, 1989. The couple believes speaking up for freedom and democracy has always been a Canadian value and paying attention to the situation in Hong Kong is in the best interests of Canadians. ( )

The Epoch Times: 20 State Attorneys General Oppose Mexican Lawsuit Against Gun Industry
20 State Attorneys General Oppose Mexican Lawsuit Against Gun Industry
Mexico's appeal over the dismissal of a $10 billion lawsuit against American gun manufacturers has been met with wide support from blue state leaders, while Montana’s Attorney General Austin Knudsen is leading a coalition of 20 attorneys general to defend the Second Amendment and firearms industry. The Mexican government claims that 70-90% of guns recovered from Mexican crime scenes come from the United States, of which many were manufactured by the named companies. The U.S. District Court of Massachusetts dismissed the suit in October 2022, claiming the Mexican government failed to prove the manufacturers were liable for gun crimes. The Mexican government has since appealed the dismissal of the suit to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

The attorneys general argue that gun makers bear no responsibility for Mexico’s corrupt officials and criminal elements. Congress passed the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act to protect American businesses from frivolous lawsuits, with Mark Oliva, Managing Director of Public Affairs for the National Shooting Sports Foundation adding that the case would fail again because there is no basis in the law. Furthermore, Knudsen claimed that the real driver of gun violence was the government’s crackdown on drug crime in 2006. This, combined with powerful drug cartels protected by corrupt officials, set the stage for the following bloody years.

The Epoch Times: Kash Patel Breaks Down the Durham Report
Kash Patel Breaks Down the Durham Report
Former Trump administration aide Kash Patel has spoken out about the recently released Durham report on EpochTV's Kash's Corner. Patel claims that the report's initial stage reveals that the Hillary Clinton campaign engaged in fabricated information against Trump, and the DOJ and FBI continued where the campaign left off after he won the election. Patel highlights the controversial FISA warrant obtained for Carter Page, a Trump campaign adviser, which potentially allowed for surveillance of the entire campaign. Patel also accuses high-ranking officials of prioritizing the protection of their institutions over necessary reforms.

VIDEO: Printer's Error Labels Every Nassau County Voter Democrat
A printer error led to almost 600,000 voters in Nassau County, New York being assigned the wrong political party, with all the registration cards being sent as Democrats. Board of Elections officials are now investigating the mistake, which reportedly comes two years after the Rochester-based Phoenix Graphics botched absentee ballots for 100,000 voters shortly before the 2020 election. The printing company has since offered apologies and said it was a human error. Phoenix will now be paying around $300,000 to send out corrected registration cards before the upcoming primary.

The Right Scoop: AOC, Bernie Sanders and rest of socialists jump on 14th Amendment bandwagon — and the Bible
AOC, Bernie Sanders and rest of socialists jump on 14th Amendment bandwagon — and the Bible
Democrats including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders are pushing for the use of the 14th Amendment as a "solution" to Biden's reluctance to negotiate spending cuts. They claim that Biden can unilaterally ignore the debt ceiling and bypass Congress, an idea first suggested by liberal media. Biden and Yellen have not ruled out this option, and "progressives" are now pressuring him to use it. Republicans have warned that they will harm the global economy unless Biden gives in to their demands. Meanwhile, AOC has criticized DeSantis for not reading the Bible and joined the fake outrage about his use of the phrase "good Samaritan".

Spectator USA: How to avoid repeating the horrors of Hiroshima
How to avoid repeating the horrors of Hiroshima
The leaders of the G7 countries are meeting in Hiroshima to discuss key issues including Russian aggression against Ukraine and the ban on nuclear weapons. The site of the Hiroshima Peace Memorial, the Atomic Dome, stands as a stark reminder of the horrors of nuclear weapons, while the beauty of its surroundings provides a stark contrast. Meanwhile, the Russo-Ukrainian War has turned atomic energy from a symbol of peace to a symbol of war, and the Ukrainian nuclear power plant has become a key battleground between Russian and Ukrainian forces. It is time for a movement calling for an international treaty banning the weaponization of nuclear sites.

Russia's Prigozhin Claims Capture of Bakhmut, Ukraine Claims Fighting Goes On
Yevgeny Prigozhin claimed his Wagner fighters captured Bakhmut, but Ukraine denied it, saying fighting still continues. The city has been a focus of a long and bloody battle in Ukraine's war. Prigozhin said his forces will withdraw from Bakhmut from May 25 for rest and retraining, taunting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. President Joe Biden who were taking part in a G7 summit.

PJ Media: Biden Trip to G7 Summit in Japan Going About as Expected
Biden Trip to G7 Summit in Japan Going About as Expected
Biden's latest trip to Japan for the G7 summit has been ripe with opportunities for embarrassment. Mainly, cheat sheets that are actually pre-written transcripts and moments of Biden's encroaching dementia. While his handlers have been on top of things, videos of the Bidens meeting with the Prime Minister show awkward movements and inappropriate behavior. The trip has been cut short, and now he returns to the U.S. to negotiate a debt ceiling deal with Congressional Republicans.

The Epoch Times: Judge Not Inclined to Close Oil Pipeline, Asks Wisconsin Tribe to Work With Oil Company
Judge Not Inclined to Close Oil Pipeline, Asks Wisconsin Tribe to Work With Oil Company
The Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa has failed to prove an imminent threat exists on the Enbridge Line 5 pipeline. Although the pipeline running through the band's Wisconsin reservation poses an unreasonable risk to the tribes, local watersheds, and Lake Superior because of its age, tribe officials have not allowed Enbridge to take essential precautions. Enbridge has requested permission to install barricades made of trees along the riverbank, which tribal officials have not approved, and sandbags to prevent erosion.

U.S. District Judge William Conley said that while he is unlikely to shut down the pipeline, there is a time to intervene. He urged the tribe to “act. Do something to show you’re acting in good faith.” The Bad River tribe first filed against Enbridge in 2019, demanding the removal of the roughly 12-mile section of Line 5 that crosses tribal lands. Conley rejected this ruling, but he required an emergency shutoff plan to be in place in case the pipeline ruptures. The pipeline carries up to 23 million gallons of light crude oil and gas liquids each day and was built in 1953.

New Hampshire Bill Requiring Schools to Inform Parents About Children’s ‘Gender Identity’ Fails
A bill in New Hampshire that aimed to require schools to inform parents if their children changed their gender identity at school was defeated narrowly in the state House. The bill had secured support in the Republican-controlled Senate in March, but was defeated 195-190 in the House, with two Republicans siding with Democrats. The legislation would have set up a process for informing parents about their minor children's health, wellbeing and educational progress while in public schools, and had been vetoed in similar form by Gov. Chris Sununu in 2022.

Forbes: How Hot Is A Fully-Laden Bumblebee And Why Should We Care?
How Hot Is A Fully-Laden Bumblebee And Why Should We Care?
Bumblebees carrying large loads of pollen can overheat and reach lethal limits due to climate change. Researchers tested common eastern bumblebees in the lab and found that their body temperature increases as the weight of their pollen load increases, making them more susceptible to high temperatures of 41.3° to 48.4°C. This has important implications for bumblebees and climate change, as the bees' operational range of temperatures could shrink significantly. Bumblebee populations and ranges are already declining, which puts future colonies at risk and affects the future of the entire species. Bumblebees provide critical ecosystem services and are key pollinators for agriculture worldwide.

Nebraska senator flips out debating ban on sex change surgeries for minors, screams 'we need trans people'
The Nebraska legislature approved a bill that bans sex change procedures and abortion after 12 weeks of pregnancy for minors in the state. Democratic Senator Machaela Cavanaugh shouted her support for transgender people during a debate on the bill, which resulted in her being removed from the session. Republicans successfully ended a filibuster and passed a bill with both measures, with Republican Governor Jim Pillen is set to sign it into law. The bill has exceptions for rape and incest and allows some exceptions for minors who were already receiving treatment before the ban was enacted.
