Spectator USA: Will DeSantis lose if he runs to the right of Trump?
Negative partisanship dominates American politics, with voters choosing the most viable alternative over their preferred party or candidate. In 2020, Joe Biden won by being the alternative to Donald Trump, and in 2024, the decision will likely come down to what voters disliked most about the past four years. Governor Ron DeSantis is a clear alternative to Trump, positioning himself as a principled conservative, with appeal to both economic and social conservatives. However, his true-blue ideological appeal may cost him the nomination if negative partisanship leads GOP voters to choose an anti-Democrat, somewhat anti-Republican, and not consistently conservative candidate.

The Federalist Papers: Anheuser-Busch Held Top Score in Industry Ranking - Now It's Been Delisted and Stripped of Awards
The Human Rights Campaign has suspended the Corporate Equality Index score of Anheuser-Busch InBev, stemming from the backpedaling over the Dylan Mulvaney/Bud Light campaign. While Bud Light sales were still down 23.6% after the company placed the executives responsible for the campaign on leave, the beer declined to cut Mulvaney loose. Human Rights Campaign threatened to dock Anheuser-Busch's suspended score if the company does not respond to the letter within 90 days. Companies with 100 scores receive a “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality” seal of approval, and the suspension of a perfect score can do relatively little to a company.
Newsbusters: Why Chappelle’s ‘Batman’ Crack Will Leave a Mark
Late-night hosts ignore Joe Biden due to fear of hurting the Democratic party, despite the comedic potential his gaffes present. In contrast, comedians like Dave Chappelle can use humor to cut through societal issues, as demonstrated by his recent quip about San Francisco's state of decay and need for a "Batman."
Forbes: Nebraska Likely Next State To Restrict Gender-Affirming Care—Here Are All The States With Similar Bans Or Restrictions
Nebraska has joined a growing list of US states restricting access to gender-affirming care for minors, with exceptions for those born with medical disorders, as a bill prohibiting the practice on minors was approved by the state legislature. Reports have identified 16 US states this year that have introduced legislation targeting transgender healthcare, with most issuing restrictions. Although many politicians and medical organizations argue that treatment is often necessary for trans children who face higher rates of depression and suicide, politicians who back the bans see them as necessary to protect children until they are adults. The bans have sparked fierce debate amongst opponents and supporters, with opponents claiming that they serve to stigmatize and marginalize transgender people.

The swimsuits sparked criticism on social media, with some users threatening to boycott the retailer. The collection also features small shirts with phrases promoting diversity and Pride-themed onesies, leggings, tutus and jumpers. Conservative commentator Matt Walsh called for a boycott of the company. The backlash follows Adidas' controversial use of a male model to promote a women's swimsuit, a decision that was also criticised.

Red State: Joe Biden Gets Lost Again, Tells Reporter to 'Shush up' Before Incoherent Rant on the Debt Ceiling
President Biden attends G7 conference in Japan while the country faces a debt ceiling crisis . He gets lost in public again while exiting a photo op and chastises reporters who ask him questions about the negotiations. Biden claims to be an expert negotiator, but Republicans passed a well-made plan to avoid default, undermining the White House's top talking point that Republicans are responsible for the crisis. The Epoch Times: Unwanted Guests? How to Make Sure Ants Don't Set up Shop in Your Home This Summer
Ants can be active all year round and often seek shelter in people's homes during wet weather. The best way to prevent ants from entering a home is to seal cracks and crevices, put in door sweeps, and to keep tree branches off of the roof. Natural repellents like peppermint oil, white vinegar, cinnamon, borax, and diatomaceous earth can also keep ants away, though baits containing insecticides are the most effective means for getting rid of them. Nevertheless, people should be cautious with using sprays inside as it may harm pets and humans. #(other)
