Fox News: Illinois health care program for noncitizens, including illegal immigrants, balloons to $1.1B
Illinois health care program for noncitizens, including illegal immigrants, balloons to $1.1B
An Illinois health care program will cost the state $1.1 billion for the upcoming fiscal year, an increase from the $220 million initially set. The program provides state-funded health care to immigrants age 42 and older who cannot access Medicaid due to their citizenship status, including those here legally on a green card for under five years, and illegal immigrants. There are debates about extending such benefits to illegal immigrants across the country as the US faces a historic migrant crisis at its border.

Democratic lawmakers in Illinois are pushing for an expansion of health care coverage to include adults over 19, which would incur an additional $380 million cost in the first year alone. Republicans call for a moratorium on new enrollments into the program because the extra $880 million would more than wipe out the estimated $303 million surplus in the initial budget. This controversy mirrors the larger debate about granting benefits to immigrants in the US while the country faces an ongoing surge of migration, especially illegal immigration.

National Review: The Reality of RFK Jr.
The Reality of RFK Jr.
Conservatives enamored with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. must examine his anti-scientific past even though he makes a strong criticism of pandemic lockdowns. Kennedy has been a fraudster and a charlatan for most of his adult life, distorting evidence and lying about the science to benefit only himself. On the thimerosal issue, he lied about the science and then found charlatans who pretended to be experts to support his bogus conclusions. Kennedy now supports a position on Covid that conservatives generally agree with, however, conservatives need not fall into the same trap of supporting him.

Nebraska Approves Trans Surgery for Minors Ban, 12-Week Abortion Ban
Nebraska passed a bill prohibiting abortions after 12 weeks and “gender-affirming care” for children, despite protests and accusations of extremism from Democrats. The bill was originally introduced to restrict hormone and puberty blockers for children under 19. Republican Senator Ben Hansen added the abortion clause in an amendment. Exceptions are granted for medical emergencies, rape, and incest. GOP Governor Jim Pillen has expressed his support for the Let Them Grow Act.

Clyburn: Biden Shifted Primary Schedule to Avoid Situation that Caused LBJ to Drop Out, NH Voters Don't Care About His Pet Issues
James Clyburn defends President Biden's decision to have South Carolina go first in the 2024 Democratic primary schedule, ahead of Iowa and New Hampshire. Clyburn argues that Biden remembers what happened to Lyndon Johnson when he went to New Hampshire and got embarrassed, dropping out of the race. Additionally, voters in New Hampshire are said to focus on different issues than what Biden prioritizes, such as Head Start and voting rights.

Breitbart: Italy's Meloni Left 'Visibly' Irate After Trudeau Pushes LGBT Agenda at G7
Italy's Meloni Left 'Visibly' Irate After Trudeau Pushes LGBT Agenda at G7
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's comment on LGBT issues reportedly left Italian PM Giorgia Meloni looking visibly annoyed at the G7 meeting in Hiroshima, Japan. Meloni has been pushing Italy right on social issues, including LGBT ideology, and her party has seen significant rise in popularity polling. Trudeau publicly said he was concerned about some of Italy's positions on LGBT rights and looked forward to talking with Meloni on the issue, which reportedly left her visibly annoyed. Meloni has responded to Trudeau's criticisms by insisting that her government is following court decisions and not deviating from previous administrations on LGBT issues.

In more consequential news, Meloni is reportedly considering an official announcement of Italy's withdrawal from China's Belt and Road Initiative, a move that would mark a sizable diplomatic loss for China. The Italian PM is said to be undecided on how best to bow out of the Chinese project, but insiders claim that it's less a question of if Italy will abandon the project and more one of how and when.

Fox News: Reddit conversation ignites over 'rude' traveler who took up two bus seats and never budged for others
Reddit conversation ignites over 'rude' traveler who took up two bus seats and never budged for others
A woman on Reddit sparked controversy after asking if her behavior on a bus was inappropriate. She sat in one seat and placed her heavy bags on the seat next to her, essentially taking up two seats on her own. As more people boarded the bus, some had to stand, but she didn't move her bag or offer the seat to anyone. At the last stop, someone told her that she was being inconsiderate and rude. The Reddit community was vocal in their criticism of the woman's selfish behavior, calling her an "a--hole" and suggesting she should have used basic courtesy and put her bags on her lap or the floor.

National Review: The Corner: Scientists Urged to Aid ‘Rights of Nature’ in Science
The Corner: Scientists Urged to Aid ‘Rights of Nature’ in Science
The science journal, Science, has adopted progressive ideology, including support for the "nature rights" campaign. The campaign aims to grant environmental extremists legal standing to enforce their policy desires through litigation as legal guardians serving nature's best interests. Scientists are urged to promote the agenda by giving courts a scientific pretext to enforce nature rights laws and impose the agenda from the bench, despite the fact that "nature" is not a moral entity and cannot owe anything or anyone duties. This irrational agenda is a threat to society and its institutions.

Red State: US Announces Ukraine Will Get F-16 Fighters as Antony Blinken Takes Control of Policy
US Announces Ukraine Will Get F-16 Fighters as Antony Blinken Takes Control of Policy
The US will no longer block F-16 transfers to Ukraine and will participate in training Ukrainian pilots, a decision made clear to the other G-7 leaders by Joe Biden. The hold-up was a battle inside the Biden national security apparatus over the issue, with Colin Kahl ultimately being rolled.

Equipping the Ukrainian Air Force marks a change in the minimalist attitude toward supporting Ukraine that has permeated the Biden State and Defense Departments, and indicates a shift toward focusing on providing Ukraine with the security guarantees, like NATO membership, that will prevent this war from reigniting. The decision will also prompt other US weapons systems to soon be released to Ukraine.

Euromaidan Press: US, Germany-linked Russian oligarch develops occupied Mariupol
US, Germany-linked Russian oligarch develops occupied Mariupol
Russian oligarch Aleksey Repik played a significant role in developing occupied Mariupol while conducting business operations in the US and Germany, according to a recent investigation by the Scanner Project. Repik’s company R-Stroi emerged as one of the main developers in the occupied city following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022. The investigation also unveiled Repik’s $19.1m mansion in San Francisco, and the fact that he attended the inauguration of former US President Donald Trump in 2017. Repik removed his name from the list of R-Pharm owners just three months after the start of the invasion in an attempt to avoid personal sanctions.

New mass burial sectors in the Novotroitske cemetery in Mariupol have also been uncovered, visually larger than those in other villages. Repik’s mother is among the new owners of Petrusco, which sponsors R-Stroi. Ukrainian-Crimean Tatar underground has claimed responsibility for the assassination attempt on a top Russian propagandist.

Macron’s Foreign Policy Is a Pro-China ‘Dumpster Fire’ - Congressman
Republican Congressman Mike Gallagher has criticised French President Emmanuel Macron's foreign policy towards China as a "dumpster fire." Macron has been reluctant to take a hard line on China and has called for Europe to remain hands-off when it comes to any conflict between China and the US. Gallagher's comments were made during a conference in London between UK and US representatives who are concerned about China's increasing influence worldwide. He expressed concern that France is undermining support for Taiwan by siding with China, which could drive a wedge between America and Europe.

Sales of Bud Light are down during the boycott while AB InBev's stock price fell almost 10 points during the last six weeks. The company has allegedly made several shuffles in its marketing department. The boycott has hit people who rely on selling Anheuser-Busch products to make their living.

Car-Blocking Scheme Barred From Latest UK Government Funding to Boost Cycling and Walking
The UK Department for Transport has excluded low traffic neighbourhood (LTN) schemes from a £200m ($276.6m) package to fund walking and cycling routes. The projects aim to create 120 miles of cycling track and improve school travel for 35,000 children. LTNs use barriers, planters and traffic to limit motor vehicle access; critics claim they damage businesses and push problems elsewhere. Walking and cycling charity Sustrans criticized the funding, saying the government was “giving with one hand and taking away with the other” by cutting active travel funding over the next two years.
