Any individuals with new sexual partners, multiple partners or anal sex over the last few months will not be able to donate, regardless of sexual orientation. Testing is required in two stages; firstly, for certain antibodies that may cause adverse reactions and, secondly, for hepatitis B and C, HIV, West Nile virus, bacterial contamination and any other pathogens. .

Glenn Perry, who killed two Wisconsin police officers during a traffic stop, struggled with a divorce and harbored animosity towards law enforcement. Perry was accused of stalking and harassing his ex-wife and had a history of disturbing comments, according to the state Justice Department's nearly 1,000 pages report. Perry's ex-wife told investigators that he was schizophrenic and carried guns in his vehicle. Perry didn't like getting "harassed or pushed around" by the police and threatened to open fire if he felt threatened.

A Detroit gas station clerk was charged with involuntary manslaughter as he locked the glass partition to stop a possible theft. He panicked when a man tried to leave the gas station with items worth less than $4. A man was killed and two more were wounded. The accused is being held on a $200,000 bond, and his attorney is arguing that he was doing his job.
