Washington Free Beacon: How Biden Turned 'Sanctuary City' Democrats Into Ruthless Border Hawks
Democratic politicians who once welcomed migrants and criticized Republican responses to the border crisis are changing their tune as border crossings hit record highs. New York governor Kathy Hochul, Denver mayor Michael Hancock, and Colorado governor Jared Polis are among the Democrats who are now saying they cannot accept any more migrants and are implementing policies they previously decried as racist. Even Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden, who campaigned on reversing President Donald Trump's immigration policies, have implemented restrictions on asylum seekers that are almost identical to those they criticized Trump for innovating. The hashtag for this summary is .

The Epoch Times: House Republican, a Former Sheriff, Physically Removes 'Threatening' Left-Wing Protester From News Conference
A left-wing protester interrupted a Republican news conference in the House Triangle, heckling members of Congress. When he crossed into the conference in a threatening manner, Rep. Clay Higgins (R-La.) physically removed him using police vernacular. Higgins lifted the protester, who was escorted away by Capitol Police officers.
Forbes: Critical Debt Ceiling Talks Back On After Sudden Pause, McCarthy Says
Debt ceiling negotiations between Republicans and the Biden administration stalled on Friday due to Republican demands for spending cuts. Negotiations will resume Friday night. Former President Donald Trump has also weighed in, urging Republicans not to make a deal "unless they get everything they want", though the House Freedom Caucus has urged Kevin McCarthy to shut down negotiations and support a nonstarter bill that includes spending cuts and Biden policy rollbacks.
American Thinker: Politico, a Democrat outlet, attacks Casey DeSantis, Ron’s wife
The media is attacking Casey DeSantis, wife of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, for being too good as a political wife, suggesting that she isolates her husband from important political advisors. However, her intelligence and commanding presence were evident during a recent presentation, where she spoke about a program to connect people in need to local charities and tackle poverty-related emergencies. The article is reminiscent of the strong support given to Hillary Clinton by the Democrats in 1992, when she was touted as a co-president with her husband.
Washington Free Beacon: WATCH: Joe Biden's Senior Moment of the Week (Vol. 43)
President Biden's recent gaffes and senior moments have been the subject of much scrutiny, with critics highlighting his apparent decline in mental and physical state. However, his return from a trip to Asia and the presence of elderly senators like Dianne Feinstein help to make his overall condition look better in comparison. Biden has also been observed struggling to stay awake during speeches and appearing less than competent in public appearances. Nevertheless, his handlers seem to be allowing him to spend more time around children, despite concerns about his level of cognitive functioning.
Breitbart: EU Will Block Funding for Regions Fighting LGBT Ideology, MEP Says
The EU has warned local regions in Poland that they won't receive funding if they resist LGBT ideology, according to MEP Pierre Karleskind. Officials have made no direct claims regarding the "LGBT-free zones" and whether they violate EU rules, however, it has been suggested that they may have broken the code with their decision to fight LGBT ideology. The letter suggests that individual EU member states are required to "respect the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union when they implement EU programmes".
Red State: FBI Misused Surveillance Tool More Than 278,000 Times Including Against Jan. 6 People, BLM, Political Donors
The FBI has misused a database meant for foreign intelligence, violating American citizens' privacy more than 278,000 times. The database was used to search for information on Capitol rioters, Black Lives Matter protestors, donors to a congressional campaign, victims of crimes, and even a member of Congress. The FBI claims to have made changes but it's unclear if those responsible will be held accountable.
Breitbart: Condemnation as Iran Hangs Three Linked to anti-Government Protests
Three Iranian men convicted of killing security force members during protests were executed on Friday, drawing condemnation from rights groups. The men were found guilty of “waging war against God” for shooting dead three members of the security forces at a demonstration in the central city of Isfahan on November 16. Iran witnessed waves of nationwide protests following the September 16 death of Mahsa Amini, triggering the execution of seven protesters. The cases of the three men have caused concern abroad, including in Australia where some of Kazemi’s family live. ( )
PJ Media: WATCH: Biden Administration Education Secretary Can't Answer What Color His Suit Is
Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona refused to give GOP members any answers to basic questioning at a House Education Committee hearing, repeatedly deflecting with canned responses. Rep. Lisa McClain tried in vain to get a simple yes or no answer out of him, even resorting to asking about the color of his suit, leading her to criticize his refusal to cooperate as a witness. The same ritual occurs in every hearing where a partisan bureaucrat is questioned by the opposing party, and yet they are not prosecuted for obstruction, despite being obliged by law to cooperate.
Cardona also dodged questions about the Biden administration's support for critical race theory (CRT) and racial demagogue Ibram X. Kendi. GOP representative Jim Banks criticized his lack of honest explanation and preparation for educational and societal success, adding that the administration would rather appease the "radical transgender lobby" than address pressing issues.

Fox News: Ghanaian officials believe $3B IMF loan will ‘reset’ economy, ease hardship
Ghana's $3 billion IMF bailout is a "crucial first step" in resetting the economy and easing economic hardship but is "far from a magic solution wand," according to Ken Ofori-Atta, Ghana's finance minister. The fund, which is expected to be dispensed in tranches over three years, will aim to stabilise the nation's economy, which has suffered from soaring inflation, a weakened currency and rising public debt. Critics say that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has mismanaged the economy and that the loan "will, without doubt, bite hard on Ghanaians". There are hopes that the initiative will provide a brighter future for all Ghanaians.
Zimbabwe has released over 4,000 prisoners under an amnesty designed to reduce overcrowding in its jails. The move is part of an attempt by the southern African nation to reduce the expense of its prisons, which are thought to contain nearly 20% of the country's prisoners beyond capacity. The prisoners' amnesty is expected to free up space in the country's prisons and reduce the financial burden of running overcrowded jails.
The Epoch Times: Chinese Regime Fines Talk Show Firm $2 Million for Mocking Chinese Military
Chinese talk show company Xiaoguo (Fun Factory) has been fined around $2m and all performances suspended indefinitely for airing a joke in which a comedian mocked China's People's Liberation Army and Communist Party leader Xi Jinping. Comedian Li Haoshi's comments were reported by audience members and went viral on Chinese social media. Fellow comedian Chi Zi was also banned by China's Central Propaganda Department in February for making fun of sensitive topics such as Covid-19 control policy during a North American tour. Observers suggest it is becoming harder for comedians to survive in China under the ruling Communist Party's increasingly restrictive censorship.

National Review: The Corner: U.N. Rep Holds ‘Constructive’ Meeting with Russian Official Accused of War Crimes
UN Children's Rights representative Virginia Gamba met with Russian official Maria Lvova-Belova, who has been indicted by the International Criminal Court for overseeing the mass deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia, which is considered a war crime. The UN has declined to confirm the meeting, but Lvova-Belova said that the conversation was "without politics" and that the envoys discussed cooperation with the UN and other international organisations to protect children. Yale University and the State Department reported that a conservative estimate of 6,000 Ukrainian children have been sent from Russian-occupied territory to re-education camps. Researchers found that the Russian authorities appear to be carrying out “systematic re-education” of Ukrainian children in dozens of those camps to promote a pro-Kremlin worldview.

The Epoch Times: US Investors Funding China-Based Companies That Steal American IP
U.S. investors are funding Chinese companies that steal intellectual property (IP) from American companies. In fact, companies that replicate stolen IP in critical technologies such as semiconductors become more attractive to American investors as they are subsidized by the Chinese Communist Party. Experts warn that this situation is encouraging China's communist regime to become a better "predator" of IP. The United States must restrict investments in Chinese companies that steal from American companies to avoid such consequences. This is especially important as China seeks to improve its military capabilities by securing advanced semiconductor technology that it cannot legally purchase.
Chinese nationals infiltrated FemtoMetrix, a U.S. company, and stole proprietary data to create their Chinese company, Weichong Semiconductor. The three Chinese formed their own company, using FemtoMetrix's software and slides during presentations to potential investors. Although FemtoMetrix is trying to pursue legal action against Weichong, the China-based company has started using a law firm out of Britain, suggesting that it may receive funding from the CCP. Furthermore, even if the litigation is successful in banning Weichong from selling their copied products, nothing will stop the company from continuing to develop the highly sought-after technology for the CCP. Experts warn that Biden administration must take stronger action against the continued theft of American IP by China.

The Epoch Times: Stock Market Today: Wall Street's Best Week Since March Stalls Amid Debt Worries
Wall Street's S&P 500 broke out of a six-week slump, gaining 1.6% on hopes of a deal to avoid a US debt default. Concerns crept in as negotiators for House Speaker Kevin McCarthy paused talks, causing the S&P 500 to flip on Friday despite rising hopes earlier in the week for a positive outcome. However, investors continued to be buoyed by signs that the Federal Reserve may ease back on interest rate hikes, helping to counterbalance worries about a looming recession. The majority of companies in the S&P 500 have reported better earnings for the first quarter of the year than analysts expected.

The Epoch Times: Pentagon Leak Suspect Jack Teixeira to Remain Jailed as He Awaits Trial
Air National Guard member Jack Teixeira, accused of leaking highly classified military documents, will remain in jail as there is a risk he will flee the country, said a federal judge in Worcester, Massachusetts, on Friday. The judge cited Teixeira’s “fascination with guns,” disturbing online statements and admonitions by Teixeira’s military superiors about his handling of sensitive information before his arrest. Prosecutors revealed that Teixeira had a history of violent rhetoric and was caught taking notes on classified information and viewing intelligence not related to his job. He is accused of sharing classified military documents on Discord that exposed the world to unvarnished secret assessments on Russia’s war in Ukraine and national security issues, a breach of trust that could have put many at risk, including military personnel, medical workers overseas, and Ukrainian citizens.
Teixeira’s lawyers had pressed the judge to release him to his father, saying he has no criminal history and strong family support to ensure he shows up in court. The judge said the support of Teixeira’s family is a compelling reason to release the man but that his concerns about the defendant’s behaviour and evidence presented outweighed his family's backing. The high-profile case is being prosecuted by the Massachusetts US Attorney’s office after Teixeira's April 13 arrest on charges under the Espionage Act of unauthorized retention and transmission of classified national defence information. Teixeira has been behind bars since then and has not yet entered a plea. Prosecutors revealed a troubling history going back to high school, where Teixeira was suspended when overheard discussing Molotov cocktails and other weapons as well as racial threats. His initial application for a firearms identification card was denied due to police concerns over those remarks. He regularly made statements about violence and murder on social media. Teixeira was also twice admonished by superiors in 2022 and observed in February 2023 viewing information “that was not related to his primary duty and was related to the intelligence field.” Teixeira can appeal the judge’s ruling.
Front Page Magazine: 1 in 3 Female Recruits Injured in Army Basic Training
The American military is being pushed towards a state of wokeness that prioritizes diversity over strength. This has led to physical injuries to female recruits who are twice as likely as their male counterparts to be injured during basic training. While politicians and military officials keep changing physical fitness standards to accommodate gender-neutral policies, the biological differences between men and women cannot be ignored. Studies have shown that women have smaller hearts, less muscle mass, and wider pelvic bones that result in less explosive power and upper body strength. The mixing of sexes on the battlefield has also been shown to negatively impact combat effectiveness and results in greater physical trauma to female soldiers.

The Epoch Times: California Legislatures Block Bill That Would Hold Oil Companies Liable for Health Problems
California blocked an environmental bill on Thursday that would have held oil companies liable for the health problems of those living near oil wells. Authored by Sen. Lena Gonzalez, the bill would have required oil companies to pay up to $1 million to people with illnesses associated with the well. The bill was opposed by the Western States Petroleum Association, who said it would have done more harm than good.
