Forbes: TikTok Users Sue Montana To Overturn First U.S. Ban On App
Montana Governor Greg Gianforte has signed a first-of-its-kind bill that outlaws TikTok in the state, sparking a lawsuit from a group of five TikTok users who argue that the ban is unconstitutional and illegitimate. The plaintiffs filed the lawsuit in federal court in Missoula, Montana, arguing that the ban violates First Amendment rights and that Montana has no authority to enact it due to national foreign policy or security concerns. The ban is set to take effect on January 1, 2024, and would prevent people from downloading TikTok in Montana, with app store operators facing a $10,000 daily fine if they offer the app.

National Review: Mike Pence, Miami Mayor Say DeSantis–Disney Feud Is Costing Florida
Disney has pulled out of a $1bn office-development project in Florida due to a long-running dispute with the state's Governor, Ron DeSantis, who reacted to the company's opposition to state education rights legislation by ramping up oversight. While DeSantis originally intended to remove Disney's 56-year-old “independent special district” status and substitute this with oversight, taxpayers would have faced paying for Disney's municipal services and also assume the tax district's debt of roughly $1bn. Disney warned that if it was the subject of continuing state regulatory action, it will reassess $17bn in planned investment.
The Right Scoop: [VIDEO] – Mike Pence comes out against DeSantis and sides with Disney
Mike Pence criticizes Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for revoking Disney's special privileges to govern the area surrounding Disney World. Pence appears to side with woke Disney and Democrats, claiming businesses should be allowed to do as they please without consequences. However, Disney opposed a bill protecting elementary school children from grooming by the alphabet mafia and tried to stop it. DeSantis and the legislature simply took away a special privilege that should never have been given in the first place, and Disney still operates as usual. Pence's attack on DeSantis seems misguided, as Disney's billion-dollar plans were not affected by the decision.
National Review: The Corner: DeSantis and the Electability Trap
DeSantis' criticism of Trump's potential loss in 2024 may not sway Republican voters in his favor. Trump's previous successes refute the prediction.
National Review: Gorsuch Condemns the ‘Breathtaking’ Use of Emergency Powers During Covid
Justice Neil Gorsuch criticized the misuse of emergency powers during the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond, claiming that they caused significant problems. While the Supreme Court deemed a case challenging the lifting of Title 42 as void due to the pandemic being over, Gorsuch pointed out the larger issue of emergency decrees being used to address something irrelevant to the crisis. He discussed how the pandemic created the largest intrusions on civil liberties and how democracy can turn towards autocracy in the face of fear. Gorsuch warned that emergency orders tend to outlive the crisis that generated them and hoped that the Judiciary would not allow itself to be part of the problem.
Breitbart: Indian PM Modi to Visit Australia Despite Biden Dropping Out of Quad Meeting
Australian Prime Minister Albanese confirmed that Indian Prime Minister Modi will still visit Australia next week, including for a bilateral meeting. This follows the cancellation of the Quad alliance meeting, which US President Biden withdrew from last minute due to debt ceiling negotiations. China praised the cancellation of the visit and views the Quad alliance as an effort to contain their power. Modi's visit comes as Australia tries to build diplomatic and economic ties with India to offset strategic competition between the US and China. Biden's cancellation damages the reputation of the US as a reliable ally and creates potential for China to peel Australia away from the Western alliance.
Breitbart: Joe Biden Leaves Kamala Harris in Charge of Debt Ceiling Negotiations
President Biden left for Japan leaving Vice President Kamala Harris to participate in a virtual briefing on debt limit talks. Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel criticized Harris’s involvement, citing her role in the border crisis . Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen warned that the US government could run out of money by June 1, putting pressure on negotiators to reach a debt ceiling agreement. Bank of America analysts, however, believe the government will have until July 28. Speaker Kevin McCarthy believes a deal can be reached by the end of the week .
Breitbart: Poll: Nearly Two-Thirds of Americans Back GOP's Debt Limit Plan on Work Requirements
Most Americans support the implementation of work requirements for Medicaid and SNAP, according to an Axios-Ipsos poll. President Joe Biden signaled that he might accept work requirements for SNAP or TANF after having backed them in 1996, but stated he would not accept them for Medicaid. Speaker Kevin McCarthy referred to enacting work requirements in continuing debt ceiling negotiations as a "red line," adding that refusing work requirements would make the US more indebted to China. The Limit, Save, Grow Act of 2023 would require at least 20 hours of work a week for those receiving government aid programs.
Breitbart: Poll: McCarthy's Job Approval Soars 18 Points Since Becoming Speaker
Rep. Kevin McCarthy's job approval rating has risen 18 points since being elected Speaker of the House. A recent poll by The Economist/YouGov found that 46% of respondents approved of McCarthy's handling of his job as Speaker, up from 28% in December of last year. McCarthy's approval numbers stand in stark contrast to his predecessor, Rep. Nancy Pelosi, who held an approval rating of just 45% while she was Speaker.
Newsbusters: Nets Ignore Hearing on FBI Retaliation Against Whistleblowers
The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing on government retaliation against whistleblowers who exposed corruption and abuse of power. The big three evening news broadcasts ignored the hearing as they believed covering it would hurt the Biden administration. Fox News covered the hearing extensively, sharing stories of FBI retaliation against whistleblowers who questioned the official narrative of the U.S. Capitol events on January 6, 2021.
Breitbart: Gavin Newsom Suggests Marjorie Taylor Greene Wants Jamal Bowman Lynched
California Gov. Gavin Newsom accused Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of racism and inciting lynching after she complained that Rep. Jamaal Bowman made her feel "threatened" in a confrontation on the steps of the Capitol. Greene claimed that Bowman had previously called her a "white supremacist" and has a history of aggression towards her and other Republicans. Newsom suggested that Greene's rhetoric was reminiscent of language used to incite lynching of black men in the South. Bowman is a member of the left-wing "Squad" and has a history of confronting Republican members of Congress in an aggressive manner.
Breitbart: Brzezinski: Biden Keeps Up 'Brutal Schedule' — 'You Would Be Exhausted' if You Put in His Hours
On "Morning Joe," co-host Mika Brzezinski praised President Biden's exhausting schedule, pointing out the difference between his work ethic and former President Trump's executive time. Brzezinski remarked on Biden's political instincts, kindness, and generosity, saying that he and Dr. Jill Biden show up at everything and give their time. However, she acknowledged that such a schedule would exhaust most people and is likely to intensify as the campaign heats up. Joe Scarborough joked that he is taking a month off, to which Brzezinski corrected that he's actually taking tomorrow off.
Breitbart: Jewish Activist Dov Hikind: Elon Musk ‘Absolutely Entitled’ to Criticize Soros
Elon Musk has been defended by former New York state assemblyman Dov Hikind, who stated that he is entitled to criticize George Soros without it being classed as antisemitism. Hikind, who is chairman of Americans Against Antisemitism, accused Soros of legitimizing antisemites. This comes after Musk compared Soros to the X-Men villain Magneto, which caused controversy on Twitter. Hikind believes that criticism of Soros does not justify a label of antisemitism, although he points out that references to the Holocaust, Jewish symbols, and Nazi imagery should be avoided. He also accused Soros of supporting the BDS movement.
Red State: Paging Hypocritical Dems: Biden Has a Huge Ethics Problem, and It Could Be a Big Legal Problem Too
Democrats criticize Justice Clarence Thomas for taking free trips with a friend he's known for years, despite no indication of impropriety. However, they turn a blind eye to Joe Biden's failure to report gifts and free getaways, including stays at wealthy donors' homes, as he constantly takes vacations. Ethics experts say Biden must disclose vacation-home stays without homeowners present, and failure to do so may be a felony. Republicans investigate whether Biden lied on the forms and never declared these gifts. Hypocrisy on the Democrats' part.
Breitbart: Merkley: Biden Needs 14th Amendment Option to Block McCarthy's 'Unreasonable' Demand 'to Unleash More Fossil Fuels'
Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) stated that House Speaker Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is making an unreasonable demand to unleash more fossil fuels on America in debt ceiling negotiations. He argued that President Biden should have the option to use the 14th Amendment to protect the transition to renewable energy and prevent harm to American families. Merkley also mentioned that a debt ceiling deal with permitting reform for transmission of electricity would be an important feature of building a resilient grid for a renewable energy economy.
Red State: Report: DeSantis Tells Top Donors in 'Private' Call That Trump Can't Beat Biden, Battles Loom Ahead
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is expected to declare his 2024 presidential candidacy on May 25, with a formal launch to follow the week of May 29. In a private call with donors, he criticized former President Trump and claimed that only he and President Biden are credible candidates for the election.
Breitbart: Markey: Biden Using 14th Amendment Necessary if GOP Not Reasonable
Senator Ed Markey suggests that President Joe Biden should use the 14th Amendment to address the debt ceiling if Republicans are not reasonable. Markey believes that all causes of the increase in public debt should be discussed, including tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires, and the refusal of Republicans to consider cuts in defense spending. He argues that the 14th Amendment may be necessary if the right-wing Republicans in the House of Representatives are not willing to negotiate fairly.

Forbes: Ukraine’s New Navy Needs Attention—Or Russia Will Sink It Again
The Ukrainian Navy, which has received only a few surplus ships, is at risk of being forgotten by Ukraine and the West as efforts focus on building up Ukrainian ground forces. However, Ukraine’s first of two Turkish-built Ada class corvettes, the Hetman Ivan Mazepa, is set to arrive in Ukrainian waters in just 19 months. Friends of Ukraine must therefore join the task of training up the crew and bulking up the navy to ultimately counter Russian forces in the Black Sea.
The Ukrainian Navy needs to be completely rebuilt after years of being whittled away by Russia, particularly since most of Ukraine’s remaining big ships were lost in Russia’s full-scale 2022 invasion. The foundational building blocks of Ukraine's next navy, to be made up of Turkish-built Ada class corvettes, will arrive sooner than expected. However, it will only be protected, trained and ready for combat it if arrives under air cover and in sufficient numbers to resist attack from Russia’s air and sea units. Therefore, the U.S. Navy has a chance to help by starting to train Ukrainian sailors on either a Freedom class Littoral Combat Ship or an early-flight Arleigh Burke Destroyer.
Red State: Putin's War, Week 64. Patriots Score Big and the Scene Is Set for Offensive Action
Russia continues its obsession with winning the battle in Ukraine, resulting in fighting around Bakhmut. The Ukrainian layered air defense system, including Patriot, has successfully fended off multiple Russian missile attacks. The Ukrainians are also focusing on damaging Russia's capacity to respond to an offensive rather than just the front lines. A new Ukrainian brigade equipped with Leopard 2 tanks, CV-90 infantry fighting vehicles, and Archer 155mm artillery has arrived and disappeared with the use of strikes on logistics areas, air defense systems, communications facilities, troop assembly areas, and headquarters. The soil has dried, allowing potential offensive action by either side.

Breitbart: Report: Biden, After Snubbing Saudis, Wants Saudi-Israeli Peace Deal
Biden is attempting to achieve a Saudi-Israeli peace deal by the end of the year, following Saudi Arabia's normalization of relations with Iran. He initially distanced himself from Saudi Arabia but has since changed his tune as gas prices rise, despite the country having a poor human rights record. Saudi Arabia wants the US to provide advanced military technology and to approve a Saudi effort to enrich uranium as a precaution against Iran's nuclear program.
National Review: House Republicans Demand Answers from Pentagon on Failure to Prevent Kabul Airport Bombing
Two House committee chairmen demand answers from the Pentagon over why the Kabul Airport bombing in 2021 was not stopped during the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. 13 service members and at least 170 Afghans died, as Marine Corps sniper Tyler Vargas-Andrews testified in March before Michael McCaul (R., Texas) of Foreign Affairs' committee. The chairmen wrote to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and General Mark Milley, saying "testimony during the hearing raises serious questions regarding the events leading up to the attack, which must be answered."
McCaul and Rogers are seeking a detailed description of the response and all documents and communications relating to the events at Abbey Gate on August 26, 2021, and nonpublic information connected to the after-action review. McCaul previously subpoenaed a document, a dissent cable where diplomats warned of the repercussions of the US withdrawal, which Secretary of State Antony Blinken allowed him to view earlier this week after he was threatened with contempt.
Breitbart: China Mocks Joe Biden for Cutting Pacific Trip Short
China's state-run Global Times criticized President Biden for canceling his planned trip to Australia and Papua New Guinea. The Chinese Communist paper quoted “Chinese experts” who believe that the US does not value its allies and prioritizes domestic problems over international obligations. The Global Times sees opportunities to exploit Biden's weakness and expand China's influence through the vacuum of strategic confusion he has created. The paper also suggested that other members of the Group of Seven might rethink their close partnerships with the faltering United States and consider business proposals from Beijing. The Global Times speculated that Biden might have just injected a little energy into China's scheme to dethrone the US dollar as the world's currency of choice.
Breitbart: Mexico’s President Fighting to Free Jailed Guatemalan Guerrilla Fighter
Mexico's President AMLO is negotiating for 83-year-old former Guatemalan guerrilla leader Cesar Montes to be pardoned and given asylum in Mexico. Montes, whose real name is Julio Cesar Macias Lopez, was jailed for ordering the murder of three soldiers searching for drug-trafficking landing strips in 2019. Guatemalan Presidential candidate Zury Rios criticized AMLO's attempt to free Montes, saying in Guatemala they don't hug criminals.
Breitbart: Supreme Court Avoids Reexamining Section 230
Supreme Court rules in favor of tech companies Twitter, Facebook, and Google in two cases involving the hosting of terrorist content on their platforms. The Court stated that they did not "consciously and culpably" participate in aiding and abetting ISIS, and also declined to address the application of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act to a complaint that did not state a plausible claim for relief. The decision has ramifications for both proponents and opponents of tech censorship.

Breitbart: Report: Bidenflation Forces Shoppers to Buy Groceries at Walmart
Walmart experienced strong sales last quarter due to Americans opting for nonessentials at other stores and buying groceries at Walmart. Walmart's sales went up 7.4% for its latest quarter and the company raised its sales forecast for its next quarter and full-year. Nearly half of Walmart's sales come from groceries and non-discretionary items. As inflation troubles President Joe Biden's economy, more wealthy families and consumers are shopping at Walmart to save money, with grocery sales growing by low double digits in the last quarter. Sixty-one percent of Americans say recent price hikes have caused financial hardship for their household.
Forbes: China Auto Billionaire Expands Global Footprint By Doubling Aston Martin Stake
Chinese auto billionaire Li Shufu's holding company, Zhejiang Geely, has purchased 42 million shares from a consortium led by Aston Martin chair Lawrence Stroll and new shares in the car brand at a value of £234 million ($290 million), increasing its overall stake to 17%. The move comes as part of Geely's wider global growth plan for the auto industry, with the aim of creating a partnership with Aston Martin, bringing joint technology synergies and expanding growth opportunities. Geely will be permitted to appoint a non-executive director to Aston Martin's board under the agreement.
Red State: Spineless Republicans Beg DeSantis to Surrender to Disney in Pathetic Showing
Disney cancels office project in Florida which had been placed on hold in 2021 due to financial concerns. The decision was an easy cost-cutting move, as building large office buildings post-COVID is not a wise investment and the company has been losing money. The media has misrepresented the situation by conflating it with Gov. Ron DeSantis’ battle with the company, and some Republicans have begged DeSantis to cave to Disney. The GOP should continue to fight against woke corporations rather than be lackeys of the donor class.

Field & Stream: Colorado Governor Vetoes Bill That Would Have Slowed the Reintroduction of Wolves
Colorado Governor Jared Polis has vetoed a bill that could have significantly delayed efforts to reintroduce gray wolves to the state, following a 2020 referendum calling for their reintroduction. While most bill SB23-256's sponsors were from communities in Western Colorado, where wolves are to be reintroduced from populations in other states, they had concerns about the lack of authority to kill wolves that prey on livestock. They hoped to delay reintroduction in order to grant ranchers and landowners this authority, but Polis said the bill undermined the will of voters and that the reintroduction of gray wolves would offer important ecological benefits.
