The Federalist Papers: '13 Counts': George Santos Comms Director Reveals What She Really Thinks of Her Boss
Communication Director for George Santos resigns after being caught on tape wishing for Santos' departure from Congress due to his 13 charges of illegal activity. The DOJ indicted Santos on seven counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, one count of theft of public funds, and two counts of making materially false statements to the House of Representatives. A resolution to expel Santos was referred to the Ethics Committee with results expected within 60 days, with Democrats pushing for his removal and some Republicans also supporting it.
Fox News: Minnesota Democrats call emergency meeting after convention melee
Minnesota Democrats met to discuss a rule change that would permanently ban people involved in violence from party activities, following chaos at a convention for a Minneapolis City Council race. The disruption was sparked after supporters of incumbent Aisha Chughtai took the stage to seek delegates’ backing for the Ward 10 City Council seat. This sparked an uproar among backers of her challenger, Nasri Warsame which led to the convention breaking up with no endorsement. Ken Martin, Chair of the state Democratic Party organization has blamed some of Warsame's supporters for instigating the conflict.
Fox News: Longtime Democrat, former presidential candidate makes return to politics to run RFK, Jr. campaign, oust Biden
Former Ohio Congressman and 2008 presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich has been named campaign manager for Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s bid for the Democratic nomination in 2024. Kennedy has gained support from Democrats looking for an alternative to President Biden, with 19% of Democratic primary voters stating they would support him, according to a recent Fox News poll. Kennedy and another candidate, Marianne Williamson, have criticized the DNC's decision not to hold primary debates, and are targeting New Hampshire, which was bumped from the lead-off primary spot.
Fox News: Nicolle Wallace whines how FBI whistleblowers who testified at House committee are 'guilty of insubordination'
Two FBI whistleblowers have been called "guilty of insubordination" by MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace, who criticized the use of the term by some Republican members of the House Judiciary Committee. While Democrats also objected to the "whistleblower" label, Wallace suggested that using it now had sinister implications given the initial treatment of the whistleblower in President Donald Trump's first impeachment. Former FBI agent Steve Friend and operations specialist Marcus Allen had their security clearances revoked last month for refusing to participate in the execution of a court-authorized search and hindering investigative activity, respectively.
House Judiciary Committee member, Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, challenged Republican Chair Rep. Jim Jordan for referring to Friend and Allen as whistleblowers, saying "these individuals have been determined not to be whistleblowers." Jordan responded that "the law decides". The hearing focused on alleged political interference and corruption within the FBI. Harry Litman, former deputy attorney general, called the FBI officials in question "political operatives" and heavily criticized the Republican members of the Committee for meddling with the standard definitions of whistleblower and breaking rules related to such plaintiffs.
Fox News: After heated whistleblower hearing, ex-FBI agent says current employees agree bureau has become politicized
Former FBI special agent Nicole Parker sympathized with the whistleblowers who testified at a House subcommittee hearing on the politicization of the FBI. The whistleblowers claimed that they had faced retaliation for speaking out. Parker, who resigned from her South Florida post, noted that security clearance was essential for FBI agents to do their job. She expressed her concern about the retaliation against the whistleblowers and the loss of security clearance. Parker said that while the FBI had strict regulations on sensitive and classified material, whistleblowers should not face retaliation for speaking out. She noted that many rank-and-file agents fear retaliation if they speak up.
The Epoch Times: New Hampshire Republicans Sink Own Party's Parental Rights Bill
A Republican bill in New Hampshire aiming to protect parental rights was defeated during a house debate on 18 May. Three Republican representatives removed specific language requiring school officials to truthfully answer parents if asked whether their children were undergoing any kind of gender transition at school. The representatives argued that the bill would obstruct children’s right to privacy from their parents and open “government intrusion” into the private lives of children. Rep. J.R. Hoell from Merrimack group, among those who testified against the amendments, claimed that there already existed a mandatory reporting process for suspected child abuse and alleged that previous decisions on minor issues such as visiting suntan salons by the New Hampshire Legislature contrastingly warranted government interference.
PJ Media: MSNBC Host Claims He Regularly Has Off-the-Record Evening Calls With Biden
MSNBC host Joe Scarborough claims President Biden calls him late at night to discuss his commentary, which he uses as evidence of Biden's cognitive capability. The revelation occurred on the "Hacks on Tap" podcast with David Axelrod. Scarborough never divulges the exact contents of their discussions, which seems publicly relevant.
Scarborough's revelation confirms the incestuous relationship between the federal government and the media. Legacy media has a liberal elite stranglehold on the industry, and "Morning Joe" is an exemplar of this phenomenon. They are groomed into the cocktail circuit and are friends with the politicians they are supposed to investigate. Stephen Colbert's recent dancing with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer further highlights the situation, as political figures are more interested in being part of the elite club than serving the public.
PJ Media: Biden’s ‘Gender-Fluid’ Ex-Nuclear Waste Chief Arrested for ANOTHER Theft of Women's Luggage
Former Biden appointee and “non-binary” individual Sam Brinton, charged with felony theft for stealing luggage from airports, was recently arrested for the third time in connection with luggage theft. Brinton was taken into custody by Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority police, pending charges of Grand Larceny. A judge declined Brinton’s request to turn himself in, instead ordering extradition to Virginia. It remains unclear why Brinton is suddenly being held accountable for his actions.
Breitbart: Rep. Eric Swalwell: Ex-49ers Fullback Bruce Miller 'Threatening to Execute Me'
Ex-footballer Bruce Miller reportedly threatened to execute California Democrat Eric Swalwell on social media. Swalwell claimed Miller sent him a private message asking whether he'd rather go to Guantanamo or be executed. The threatening message came after the Durham Report contradicted Swalwell's past statements that the FBI should investigate former President Trump for collusion with Russia due to a lack of evidence. Swalwell claims he reported the tweet to Capitol Hill Police and is disturbed by the threat of political violence.
The New American: Senate Republicans Remind Fed and SEC to Leave Climate Policy to Congress - The New American
Republican senators have written to the Federal Reserve Chair to urge him not to stray from the organisation's mandate and leave social policies for Congress. This came after the Fed asked the US’s six largest banks to conduct a “pilot climate scenario analysis exercise”. The banks were asked to test how their loan books and commercial property portfolios could be affected by political efforts to combat climate change or to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. The senators wrote: “We are growing increasingly frustrated with the Federal Reserve’s (Fed) engagement on environmental policymaking and research far outside of its statutory mandate, all while there is persistent inflation and a crisis of confidence in the banking sector…”
Alaska's Senator Dan Sullivan has also written to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over its ESG-focused proposals that ignore "American investors’ financial exposure to the Chinese Communist Party’s opaque and aggressive policies". In Sullivan’s view, “The SEC has no statutory authority or institutional competence on climate change, and I highly recommend that you immediately reprioritize your agenda…” Since Sullivan’s letter, the SEC has itself received complaints from Xcel Energy, NRG Energy and Williams Companies over “its position on greenhouse-gas emissions and other climate-related policies”.
Spectator USA: Senator says DeSantis should run... but in 2028
Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin advises Ron DeSantis not to challenge Donald Trump in the GOP nomination and wait for his turn, stating that DeSantis has issues connecting with voters and has a limited personality-based approach. Mullin suggests that DeSantis wait for four more years, for if he were to fail this time around, there would be no second opportunity .
The Federalist Papers: Maricopa County Election Director Accidentally Drops 2020 Bombshell During Kari Lake Trial
Reynaldo Valenzuela, Maricopa County Election Director, admitted at Kari Lake's election challenge trial that mail-in ballot reviews were conducted without observers present in officials' homes during the 2020 election. Lake is challenging Gov. Katie Hobbs' win, citing the flawed verification of voters in Maricopa County. Though Valenzuela confirmed that county employees can still do signature verification remotely from home, this is not protocol. Valenzuela also confirmed that observers are not legally required to be present during the verification process, though they are allowed in any general area.
The Federalist Papers: Ted Cruz Gives Anheuser-Busch’s CEO Bad News in Letter, Sets Deadline to Comply
Bud Light and Anheuser-Busch received backlash for partnering with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney, leading to boycotts and damage to the brand. Senators Ted Cruz and Marsha Blackburn launched an investigation into Anheuser-Busch, calling on the Beer Institute to investigate whether the partnership violated guidelines on marketing to underage individuals. The senators expressed concern over evidence showing Mulvaney's social media content and audience targeted younger viewers than the legal drinking age. The investigation may lead to further legal consequences and could damage the company's reputation even further.

Fox News: Texas mom opposes ban on hormone treatments on minors: My daughter 'transitioned socially' at five years old
A Texas mom appeared on MSNBC defending transgender treatment for minors while attacking a recent state bill that would ban hormone therapy to transition. "Our daughter transitioned socially when she was five years old ... There’s really not any kind of medical intervention until puberty," she said. Texas Senate passed a bill that would prohibit minors from receiving puberty blockers or other hormone therapies used to transition. Rachel, who requested the network not use her last name, attacked the Republicans for seeking to protect some "parental rights" over others and expressed concern for the possibility of protective services splitting her family.
The Right Scoop: Loudmouth lawyer Ben Crump gets BUSTED after facts emerge over ‘racist’ bike video he posted
A video of a white woman allegedly trying to steal a Citi Bike from a black man in NYC was posted by Ben Crump, expressing outrage. However, the actual video did not show the whole incident, and the white woman had paid for the bike rental. A fact-check by Community Notes noted that the white woman was being robbed by a group of black men. She was a six-months-pregnant physician assistant who had rented the bike first and was biking home, when a group of black men tried to take her bike and physically pushed her bike back into the docking station, causing it to re-lock. She was put on leave by NYC Health + Hospitals and the incident is being reviewed.

The Epoch Times: MPs on Committee Hesitant to Disclose Cases of Colleagues Targeted by Foreign Interference
Conservative MP Michael Cooper has tabled a motion in the House of Commons Standing Committee for Procedure and House Affairs that has raised concerns among Liberal and NDP MPs. The motion requests that the government should provide the committee with documents related to threats by foreign actors faced by elected officials, including information about Chinese regime activities against MPs. Cooper also wants to obtain all the records related to the distribution of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service assessment to various departments. NDP MP Rachel Blaney expressed support for accountability, but she raised concerns about protecting national security and the privacy of MPs who have already faced challenges.
Foreign Policy: Xi Hosts Historic China-Central Asia Summit
China is hosting its first-ever Central Asia summit with leaders from five neighboring countries in attendance. The summit aims to foster deeper political and economic partnerships and secure China's future with vital resources via the Belt and Road Initiative. However, Central Asian Muslims have criticized China's abuse of Uyghurs in Xinjiang, and some fear that their countries may be next to fall under the Kremlin's influence.
G-7 leaders are set to meet in Japan this week to discuss China's growing global ambitions, best strategies for peace in Ukraine, and more. The conference is only a few hours compact, and there are diplomatic and ideological differences among member nations. There is also frustration in Washington over European resistance to broadening economic sanctions and taking a tougher stance against Russia and China. Meanwhile, Ghana secured a $3 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to relieve its financial crisis, and Israelis and Palestinians held conflicting flag marches that highlighted tensions and provoked clashes.

Biden officials walked back earlier claims of killing a top Al Qaeda leader, after family of slain 56-year-old Lotfi Hassan Misto claimed he had no ties to terrorism.
Foreign Policy: How to Understand Brazil’s Ukraine Policy
Brazilian President Lula's position on Russia's war in Ukraine may limit Brazil's foreign-policy bandwidth on other issues. Lula's eagerness to lead negotiations to end the conflict may be well-intentioned, but his frequent controversial public statements on the subject are risky and could generate permanent friction between Brazil and its Western partners as Brasília seeks to earn a seat at the table of powerful nations. Brazilian diplomats were quick to remind their European counterparts that Brazil had been the only BRICS member to support a United Nations Assembly resolution calling on Russia to pull its troops out of Ukraine. Despite being welcomed by several observers, Lula’s ambition to play a mediating role in Ukraine is unlikely to succeed without the West’s blessing and Ukraine’s recognition of Brazil as an impartial actor.
Brazil sees preserving ties to powers like Russia, India, China, and the European Union as the best way to balance its highly asymmetric relationship to the United States, and keeping all doors open is Brazil’s attempt to hedge its bets in a world where the outcome of renewed great-power politics is very much uncertain. Brazilians often perceive Western rhetoric about the moral imperative to condemn Russia as grating and hypocritical. Brazil's government, and most of Brazil's opposition, believes that the best way to hedge its bets and preserve strategic autonomy is to actively participate in the creation of a multipolar global order. Lula's eagerness to contribute to negotiations on Ukraine reflects a belief in Brazil that the country has a unique contribution to make on the global stage, and is part of a wider dissent across the global south about the inclusiveness of the supposedly liberal international order.

The Epoch Times: California's Lingering Rains, Cold Weather Impacting Crops With Mixed Results
California's unseasonably cool weather and excess rainfall this spring has led to delays in crop growth and increased risk of fungus, impacting the top-producing state's farms and the national food supply. Almond yields are expected to be lower this year due to cold weather, fewer bees for pollination and rain destroying blossoms, while stone fruit producers report similar concerns. However, avocado crops are expected to be of high quality due to deeply saturated, clean rainwater. The rain has also led to farmers scaling back use of heavy machinery on still-saturated fields, creating another potential setback.
The Epoch Times: Grocery Delivery Services Pros and Cons
Online grocery delivery services have surged in popularity during the pandemic, with options including local grocery stores like Instacart, Amazon Fresh, FreshDirect, Shipt and Walmart Grocery Services. The main advantage is saving time, especially for those with small children, and staying within budget without the temptation of new products. However, prices can be higher than in-store, and tipping must be factored in, while customers cannot select their own fresh produce and may still need to visit the store for perishables.

All Outdoor: POTD: Bad or Blown Out of Proportion - Type 94 Nambu
The Type 94 Nambu is a gun that has gained a reputation for being a suicide pistol, but this is greatly blown out of proportion. It was not a last-ditch gun and the suicide claims are very unlikely to have been common, as American soldiers soon became aware of the trickery. Despite its unimpressive appearance, these guns were actually well-liked and considered more reliable than older models.

Fox News: Rhode Island Gov. McKee signs off on bill letting state fund abortions
Rhode Island Governor Daniel McKee has signed a bill into law that would let state funds be used to pay for health insurance plans that cover state workers and Medicaid recipients seeking abortions. The senate approved the measure in an hour of debate on Thursday. McKee, a Democrat, said he was proud to sign the bill into law and include related funding in his state budget proposal. The Democratic-controlled House of Representatives approved an identical version of the measure. Republican senators have argued that taxpayers, including those with moral objections to the procedure, should not have to cover the cost of abortions.
Fox News: Sugar substitutes not advised for weight loss or disease prevention, says World Health Organization
The World Health Organization (WHO) has advised against the consumption of non-sugar sweeteners (NSS) in weight loss and disease prevention. The adoption of NSS does not reduce body fat and could raise the risk of heart disease, type-2 diabetes, and mortality. WHO Director for Nutrition and Food Safety, Francesco Branca, recommended reducing the sweetness in diets altogether and replacing free sugars with naturally occurring sugars to improve health. The WHO's systematic review of sugar substitutes in 283 studies found that NSS has no nutritional value and is ineffective in reducing body fat. The new guideline applies to all synthetic and naturally occurring or modified non-nutritive sweeteners that are not classified as sugars found in manufactured food and beverages or added by consumers, except low-calorie sugars or sugar alcohols. The WHO does not include people with pre-existing diabetes in the recommendation.
Breitbart: NIH Strips Wuhan Lab of Eligibility for Animal Experiment Funding
The National Institutes of Health have withdrawn funding eligibility for China's Wuhan Institute of Virology, which was at the heart of investigations into the origins of Covid-19. This week, White Coat Waste Project confirmed that the facility appeared on the list of “Institutions with a PHS Approved Animal Welfare Assurance” as recently as late April. The Wuhan Institute of Virology has been implicated in the Covid-19 pandemic amid suspicions that the virus escaped from the lab but to date, no conclusive evidence has been found.
Sen. Marco Rubio’s extensive investigation concludes that Covid-19 likely leaked out of the Wuhan Institute of Virology in late 2019 before it spread across the world. In a new report, he outlines circumstantial evidence that a “serious biocontainment failure or accident” occurred at the facility. Investigations into the origins of the pandemic have so far been inconclusive, due in part to the Chinese government’s intransigence and obstruction. The revelation that the Wuhan facility had been stripped of animal welfare approvals elicited “cautious” optimism toward the NIH’s oversight, or lack thereof, of the institutions it funds.
PJ Media: Canada Skips the Escalator, Opts to Dive Headfirst Down the Slippery Slope
A recent survey conducted by Research Co. found that approximately one-third of Canadians approved of offering assisted suicide to the homeless population. Canada's Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) program was approved in March 2021, allowing people to participate without a "grievous and irremediable medical condition." Shockingly, 27% of those surveyed were fine with people using the MAID program if their only issue was poverty, and 20% believe it should always be allowed regardless of who requests it. There are growing concerns about the slippery slope of euthanizing people once human life becomes cheap.

Fox News: Texas university launches investigation after AI chatbot claims to have written seniors’ papers
Texas A&M University investigated the use of chatbot technology in essay writing when a student claimed to have used it to write their essay. The professor used the chatbot to check all the papers and discovered that some of the students had used it to write their papers. No student failed the course or was denied graduation, and the University is developing policies to regulate the use of AI technology in higher education.
The University is also considering the use of AI detection tools to manage the intersection of AI technology and higher education. This incident has highlighted the rapidly changing issue of the ethical use of AI in coursework. The professor who used the chatbot to review the papers in question is working individually with students to determine the extent to which the AI was used in the assignment.
