The Epoch Times: Another Illegal Immigrant Child Dies in US Custody
An 8-year-old illegal immigrant has died while in U.S. custody in Harlingen, Texas due to medical reasons and is being investigated. This marks the second death of an illegal immigrant this week. The United States has seen a spike in illegal immigration since President Biden took office, with a record 2.3 million encounters recorded at the U.S.-Mexico border in 2022 alone.
Fox News: NYC may house illegal immigrants at infamous prison: 'We are considering everything'
NYC officials are considering using Rikers Island prison to house illegal immigrants who arrived to the southern border since the city is running out of available shelter space. According to sources, the jail might be opened for a temporary shelter for the migrants, although the city officials have not specified what the plan involves. Mayor Eric Adams has confirmed that they are "considering everything" due to the severity of the crisis. The infamous jail, near LaGuardia Airport, is known for having housed serial killers and violent convicts, such as David Berkowitz and Mark David Chapman.
New York City is currently housing illegal migrants in about 150 different hotels, facilities, and buildings across the city, with a total of 67,000 immigrants who have sought asylum in the city. The Deputy Mayor of Health and Human Services reported that the city reached its "breaking point" in available services and shelter for the migrants, so they are looking for new ways to accommodate them. The city would reportedly use the Otis Bantum Correctional Center on Rikers Island to house the migrants, although it is unclear whether this would be temporary or long-term housing, considering that the prison is located to be closed by 2027.
Fox News: Rep. Kim introduces bipartisan bill to make DHS create ‘comprehensive’ strategy for securing southern border
Rep. Young Kim, R-Calif., has introduced the Comprehensive Southern Border Strategy Act, which would require the Department of Homeland Security to create a comprehensive strategy to secure the southern border. The bill was co-sponsored by Reps. Chris Pappas, D-N.H., Michael Guest, R-Miss., and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Wash. The strategy would include a review of the agency’s technology, tools and other methods at its disposal to combat drug trafficking, human trafficking by cartels and other organizations, and physical barriers and tools that are available to achieve and maintain "situational awareness and operational control" at the border (, , ).
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) released its monthly data for April on Wednesday, which showed there were 211,401 migrant encounters by CBP in April. The Comprehensive Southern Border Strategy Act comes just days after the end of Title 42, a public health order that allowed for the rapid expulsion of migrants at the southern border. Numbers surged ahead of the ending of the order but have dropped in recent days, although the administration cautioned about assuming numbers would not increase in the weeks ahead (, , ).

PJ Media: REPORT: Ron DeSantis to Formally Enter 2024 Race Next Week
Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to announce his presidential candidacy next week, alongside the transfer of over $80 million from his state account to his super PAC. Although DeSantis trails Donald Trump in most national polls, he is Trump's most formidable challenger and has a significant financial advantage. A recent CBS News/YouGov poll indicates that although Trump is the frontrunner, the number of swayable GOP primary voters and those not considering Trump is larger than those only considering him. However, both candidates are in a strong position to win the White House in the general election.
Daily Wire: Pro-Life Activist Claims Intimidation After FBI Visits Mother’s Home

Red State: WATCH: Kamala Harris Proudly Tries to Explain 'Equity,' Only Confirms Actual Intent of Socialism
Vice President Harris defended the Democrats' definition of equity over equality, stating that not everyone starts on the same base. However, this concept of equity is essentially socialism and wealth redistribution. The left relies on emotions rather than facts, and the Democrat Party supports this government practice of "robbing Peter to pay Paul." This flawed narrative ignores the reality that socialism has never worked and attempts to make everyone equal is not the same as treating them equally.
The Federalist: Let's Probe The Beautiful, Voluminous Mind Of Pete Buttigieg

Cori Bush, aiming to raise awareness for H.R. 40, which will establish a federal commission to study slavery reparations. Co-sponsors include Reps. Townhall: Mahmoud Abbas’ Foolishness on Center Stage at the UN
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas recently delivered a diatribe at the United Nations stating that the Jewish people have no legitimate claim to Jerusalem or its most sacred site, the Temple Mount. He also claimed that there was never a distinct Palestinian people before the 1960s, and that Palestine was never a land without people. Yet, historical facts and biblical prophecies support the Jewish connection to the Land of Israel. Palestinian nationalism is based solely on driving Israelis out, and their modus operandi has been to blame others rather than take responsibility. This is a sad reality fuelled by conflicting narratives, and peace can only come when the Arab narrative changes.

The Baldwin County Bridge Company stated the director acted in bad faith. The trial showed John Cooper plans to build the bridge without traffic studies, in efforts to financially damage the company. The public benefit of a new bridge should outweigh the interests of the toll company, but an appeal has been filed by the state.

The Baldwin County Bridge Company believed Alabama Transportation Director, John Cooper acted in bad faith. National Review: The New York Times Pretends to Know How Prevalent Detransition Really Is
An article in the New York Times dismisses concerns about gender-transition procedures for minors as overblown, relying on biased experts and selectively citing studies. The article claims that detransitioners are a tiny minority who are being used as political pawns by conservatives, and that most people who transition do not regret it. However, the article does not cite any scientific research to back up these claims, and the studies it does cite are limited and potentially misleading. The article also relies heavily on the authority of activist medical organizations, such as the American Academy of Pediatrics, which have been criticized for politicizing their positions.

Fox News: Natalee Holloway case: Joran van der Sloot's lawyer reveals 'ill' client is gambler, like a 'drug addict'
Joran van der Sloot, the primary suspect in the disappearance of 18-year-old American Natalee Holloway in 2005, will not oppose extradition to the U.S. to face extortion and wire fraud charges for a $250,000 plot targeting her mother. Van der Sloot maintains his innocence, claiming he was "entrapped" by the family and that he suffers from psychological and compulsive gambling problems. He is currently serving a 28-year sentence in Peru for the 2010 murder of Stephany Flores and is expected to face trial in Alabama before finishing his sentence in Peru.
Van der Sloot misled Holloway's mother about the whereabouts of her daughter's remains, allegedly leading the family to a location he knew they would not find her. With his client looking forward to fighting the charges, van der Sloot's attorney could not provide a timeline for his arrival in the U.S. Van der Sloot has been indicted but never charged in Natalee Holloway's presumed murder. Questions about whether he would oppose extradition lingered after a prison "incident" at the harshest prison in Peru prompted a lockdown, but a letter from van der Sloot confirmed he would not fight extradition.
