Breitbart: Sanctuary City Chicago: Migrants Accused of Stabbing, Shoplifting While Living in Taxpayer-Funded Shelters
Three Venezuelan nationals, potentially migrants, have been charged with various crimes in Chicago, Illinois. Elvis Diaz Betancourt was charged with stabbing a man in a migrant shelter critically injuring the victim. Separately, two other Venezuelans, Anduesa Cormena and Yeiber Colmenarez, were arrested for attempting to shoplift over $1,300 worth of clothing from a Macy's. They both live in the same migrant shelter in South Side, Chicago. The shelter has come under criticism from residents over the use of taxpayer funds to give housing to new arrivals while many of Chicago's homeless remain on the streets.
Red State: The Supreme Court Dismissed Arizona's Suit to Retain Title 42 but the Story Is in How Justice Gorsuch Did It
The US Supreme Court dismissed Arizona's effort to force the Biden administration to retain emergency provisions of Title 42, US Code, which allowed the expulsion of illegal immigrants without the option of applying for asylum. President Trump created these provisions to deal with the COVID pandemic. The court's decision brings an end to the civil liberties assault carried out in the name of protecting the public from COVID.
The question was whether states could sue the federal government to retain the policy in place. However, as the Biden administration ended the COVID National Emergency, the case was moot. Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote the unanimous opinion, critical of the judiciary and legislatures, and gave warning over the use of executive action under emergencies, "rule by indefinite emergency edict risks leaving all of us with a shell of a democracy and civil liberties just as hollow."

Breitbart: Report: Chris Christie to Run for President in 2024
Former NJ Gov. Chris Christie plans to announce his 2024 White House candidacy soon, with a campaign focused on New Hampshire and backed by NY Mets owner Steve Cohen and other donors. Christie sees himself as a serious candidate to take on former President Trump in the Republican primary, and as a candidate who could attract enough independents to defeat President Biden in the general election.
Red State: The Democrat/Media Conundrum Over Dianne Feinstein Takes an Unseemly Turn
Senator Dianne Feinstein's recent return after a bout with shingles has exposed the divisions within the Democratic Party while debates circulate about whether she should step down. The New York Times published a detailed report on Feinstein's undisclosed medical conditions which caused visual and balance impairments and facial paralysis. The senator also experienced post-shingles encephalitis. Despite being encouraged to resign by some, voters must be informed of elected officials' medical conditions that could curtail their ability to think, communicate or do their job. The issue lies in the scrutiny with which Joe Biden's administration has been treated by the media and the Democratic Party's motives to replace Feinstein with someone who is more politically "woke."
Breitbart: Pence: Trump Medicare and Social Security 'Policy Is Identical to Joe Biden’s'
Former Vice President Mike Pence criticized both President Trump and President Biden's policies on entitlements, specifically Medicare and Social Security, during an interview on Fox Business' "Kudlow". Pence noted that while he supported certain spending, such as rebuilding the military and providing COVID relief, he believed that there could have been better control of domestic spending and a national debate on dealing with the root of the national debt, which is entitlements. He also stated that Trump's policy on entitlements is the same as Biden's and that Republicans need to commit to entitlement reform.
Washington Free Beacon: Fetterman's Staff Caught Doctoring His Words To Make Him Sound Coherent
Sen. Fetterman's office provided a doctored version of his remarks to a reporter, which was posted on Twitter and later deleted. The senator struggles with coherence due to a past stroke. This is not the first time his office has covered up his incoherent remarks with corrected transcripts.
Breitbart: Durham Report: FBI Shut Down Four Investigations into the Clintons
Special Counsel John Durham’s report revealed that FBI leaders shut down four criminal investigations into Bill and Hillary Clinton, including investigations into the Clinton Foundation and an unnamed foreign government’s plan to influence Hillary’s election campaign. Durham’s report detailed how FBI Field Offices almost immediately sought Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrants but put these on hold due to Clinton’s presidential campaign. Investigations into the Clinton Foundation were sparked by Peter Schweizer’s book, Clinton Cash, and were carried out by field offices in Washington, DC; Little Rock, Arkansas; and New York City, less than a year before the 2016 presidential election. The FBI held joint meetings with the field offices, FBI Headquarters and US Attorney’s offices, with former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe initially directing the field offices to close their cases. The FBI’s different approaches regarding their investigations into Clinton and former President Donald Trump were highlighted in Durham’s report.
Red State: Disney Plays Tit for Tat in DeSantis Feud, Cancels Huge Orlando Project
Disney has decided to cancel a $1.6 billion campus in Lake Nona, Florida due to Governor Ron DeSantis' controversial legislation that restricts teaching sexual orientation and gender identity in schools. The investment was expected to generate 2,000 jobs, many of which would be for workers transferred from California due to the state's unfriendly business climate. The fight between Disney and DeSantis has intensified in recent months, resulting in a series of lawsuits. The timing of the announcement is interesting, considering DeSantis is widely expected to file paperwork declaring his 2024 presidential candidacy on May 25.
Disney's financial straits, falling market cap, and declining stock price may have also played a role in the decision to cancel the Lake Nona campus. Many are pointing out that rampant crime, homelessness, a drug epidemic, sky-high taxes, a huge budget deficit, and an impossibly high cost of living in California contributed to Disney's original plans to move the workers to Florida. The company is also facing writers' strikes and has made costly mistakes resulting from its obsession with "woke" programming. All in all, it has not been a magical year for the House of Mouse.
Breitbart: Durham Exonerates Trump of Russia Collusion Hoax, Seven Years Later
Special Counsel John Durham's report vindicated former President Donald Trump's claims of being targeted by a politicised federal law enforcement agency in the Russian collusion case. Durham's report revealed that the FBI launched a politically motivated witch hunt against Trump, ignoring intelligence that Clinton's campaign planned to accuse Trump of colluding. The FBI was spying on Trump as he had accused. The report casts a shadow on other ongoing pursuits by the Biden administration's Department of Justice and the FBI against Trump and could bolster his assertions that he is being unfairly targeted.
Red State: Democrats Are Getting Jitters, Worried That Biden Will 'Cave' to GOP on Debt Ceiling Deal
Democrats are worried that President Biden may concede too much to Republicans in the debt ceiling talks as negotiations pick up the pace. Progressives are concerned about GOP proposals for spending cuts in parallel budget negotiations. Biden will cut short his trip to Japan to get back to the negotiating table on Sunday. White House discussions with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy have shifted to a more granular negotiating phase, with Steve Ricchetti and Shalanda Young working with McCarthy's aides. Republicans have zeroed in on four major areas in debt ceiling negotiations, including work requirements for welfare programs, reforms for oil and gas projects, caps on future discretionary spending, and rescinding Covid-19 rescue funds.
Breitbart: Biden Reelection Campaign to Plead 'Let Him Finish the Job' While Casting GOP Opponents as 'Extreme'
Joe Biden's reelection team plans to urge American voters to let him "finish the job" and portray Republicans, including Trump supporters, as threats to American political values. The campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, believes that the 2024 race presents significant opportunities to grow Democratic support, and the Biden campaign will engage early and often with traditional base supporters among minorities and labor groups. Rodriguez promised to rely heavily on leveraging voters' social networks, with a strong emphasis on spreading their message online.
Washington Free Beacon: Biden Justice Department Declined To Prosecute Disgraced Soros-Backed U.S. Attorney
The Biden DOJ declined to prosecute Rachael Rollins, a Soros-backed US attorney, despite an inspector general report recommending charges be brought for lying to federal investigators. Rollins, a prosecutor in Boston, was under investigation for violating federal campaign laws and leaking information about her political rival. Despite a history of ethical violations and a policy of not prosecuting certain offenses, she was confirmed in 2021 thanks to the efforts of her Democratic Senators. The inspector general's report found Rollins guilty of making false statements and soliciting free tickets, and stated that she failed to meet the DOJ's standards of professionalism and judgment. No charges have been filed by the Justice Department.

The Imaginative Conservative: Was Nathaniel Hawthorne a Conservative?
Nathaniel Hawthorne's conservatism aimed to conserve America's Puritan heritage as a moral foundation for society by reminding Americans of the power and influence of original sin. His belief that progress must be slow and moral reform cannot happen without remembering original sin put him at odds with the optimistic Transcendentalists of his time who erased sin as a check on human behavior. Hawthorne's conservatism was dialectical, proposing an alternative vision to progressivism and Transcendentalism, emphasizing man's imperfection and free will along with God's grace and ultimate unintelligibility, and it was only freely given human love that could have a transformative effect on the human heart.
Washington Free Beacon: Biden State Department Slaps Pronouns on Emails and Misgenders Staff
The State Department experienced a "pronoun glitch" in their email system that assigned random and often incorrect gender pronouns to employees. Men were given female pronouns and vice versa, causing confusion and anger among employees. The State Department apologized and referred to the glitch as unintentional, and is working to remedy the situation.

Forbes: These Superman Cartoons Changed Animation. Now They Look Better Than Ever
Warner Bros. Discovery releases the remastered Max Fleicher's Superman collection of animated shorts from 1941-1943, which is available in HD on streaming platforms or DVD. These shorts are the first instance of comic book superheroes being seen on the big screen and still look ahead of their time today. These were made using painstakingly hand-painted cel animation and rotoscoping, making Superman appear more relatable and grounded in reality.
The advanced remastering process began with a 4K, 16-bit scan of Fleischer’s original 35mm successive exposure negative. The end result is pristine animated shorts that have been restored to the animators’ originally intended production quality. Special featurettes on the history, production and influence of the Superman cartoons have been included. These cartoons have been functionally unavailable for years, and the release by Warner Bros. Discovery is eagerly awaited by fans.

Forbes: RSV Vaccine: FDA Advisors Recommend Pfizer Shot To Protect Infants From Infection—Here’s What To Know
An independent panel has recommended the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approve Pfizer's maternal RSV vaccine, Abrysvo. The vaccine will protect babies by vaccinating pregnant parents, potentially leading to the first RSV shot for infants. RSV stands for respiratory syncytial virus and can cause mild illness in healthy adults but severe, fatal disease in younger children, older adults and people with underlying medical issues.
Forbes: Feinstein Faced More Severe Health Issues Than Initially Disclosed During Months-Long Senate Absence
Senator Dianne Feinstein suffered from encephalitis and other health issues during her absence from Washington earlier this year, causing concerns about her fitness to serve in the Senate. Her short-term memory issues have been acknowledged, and many of her duties are reportedly being carried out by aides and staffers. Despite calls for her resignation, Democratic leaders have remained largely silent or supportive about her health. Governor Gavin Newsom would appoint a replacement if she steps down before the end of her term, and has pledged to choose a Black woman, likely Rep. Barbara Lee.
Washington Free Beacon: DC Bar Exam Will Require All Test-Takers To Wear Masks For 12-Hour Exam
Washington, D.C. bar requires masks for bar exam takers despite the previous mask mandate being lifted. A German study found that masks could expose users to carbon dioxide, damaging cognitive performance. The Cochrane Review also found that masking "probably makes little or no difference" in the spread of COVID-19. This requirement makes D.C. a regional outlier and shows the bureaucratic inertia surrounding the district's pandemic response. There is mounting evidence that such mandates were harmful, especially in education settings, as masks were linked to bad health outcomes and irreversible neuron damage.

Red State: Taylor Lorenz: An Authoritarian 'Journalist' Flexing Digital Power
Journalist Paul Thacker's article exposes how Taylor Lorenz, a media activist for The Washington Post, used her influence to get Twitter to ban accounts and silence critics. Lorenz coordinated with left-wing allies, utilized reporting mechanisms and even had Twitter executives monitoring tweets about her, leading to accusations of authoritarian tendencies. Her alleged doxing of individuals and targeting of conservative influencers raises ethical concerns about responsible journalism. However, Lorenz's power over digital platforms is diminishing as she won't be able to bully Twitter into doing her bidding anymore.
Breitbart: Politico: Dems Divided On Parental Consent for Minors Seeking Abortions
Not all Democrats support repealing parental notification and consent laws concerning minors seeking abortions, according to Politico. This is due to concerns that this could negatively impact their political support when conservatives push 'parents' rights.' These Democrats are frustrating abortion rights advocates who are calling for any measure to expand access. Roughly 70% of Americans support maintaining parental notification for minors seeking abortions and over 50% support parental consent laws. Some left-leaning states are leaving parental rights alone in favor of pursuing other pro-abortion legislation such as expanding insurance coverage of abortion and passing laws blocking law enforcement from going after abortionists.
Flag And Cross: Roseanne Barr: TV Daughter Delivered Stab in the Back Before Cancellation of Show
Roseanne Barr accuses former co-star Sara Gilbert of betrayal during an interview with Megyn Kelly, stating that Gilbert joined a campaign online to cancel her TV show after her controversial tweets. Barr claims that Gilbert had begged her to return for the reboot of "Roseanne" and had assured her that she would be there for her no matter what. However, when Barr was attacked for her tweets, Gilbert joined in and condemned her. Barr believes that ABC was sending her a message by canceling her show and killing off her character and that they wanted her to commit suicide.
