The Epoch Times: 24 Governors Pledge Support for Texas, Say They're Ready to 'Protect' US–Mexico Border
Nearly half of the US governors, including 24 Republicans and one Democrat, have pledged their support to Texas Governor Greg Abbott to help address the increase in illegal immigration on the southern border. The group claimed that the Biden administration failed in response to the expired public health order Title 42, which allowed the expulsion of immigrants who could have COVID-19. The order ended in May. While officials noted a decrease in border crossings, Governor Abbott praised the support of the other governors, urging them to defend their national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and says the federal government was absent in dealing with the problem.
Some Republican governors, including Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, have sent troops to Texas to combat human and drug trafficking. DeSantis said Florida stands ready to help Texas respond to the crisis, while DeSantis' statement condemned the federal government's abdication of duty. However, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said the border was not open and claimed more than 24,000 agents and officers were prepared to enforce border policies. Meanwhile, an average of 5,000 encounters with illegal immigrants per day continues even after the expiration of Title 42 since May 12. DHS official Blas Nunez-Neto attributes this to the tightening of asylum eligibility and countries to the south stepping up border security, adding that the situation is "very fluid." In contrast, deportations of illegal immigrants have plunged.
Fox News: ‘He’s not doing his job’: Americans grade Homeland Security chief’s performance amid Title 42 fallout
Texans grade Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas's handling of the southern border crisis. A visiting resident from Amarillo gives him a C while an Austin resident gives him a B. Mayorkas described the Biden administration's recent efforts to control illegal immigration as "extraordinary." Border authorities encountered more than 10,000 migrants per day on May 8, 9 and 10, the three days before Title 42 expired. Some Texans disapprove of Mayorkas's performance and believe he should resign. However, others believe he needs more opportunities to manage the immigration influx.

The Federalist Papers: Resolution to Expel Adam Schiff Filed After Explosive Discoveries in Durham Report
Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna of Florida files resolution to remove Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California for pushing "Russian Collusion" theory, which was debunked by special counsel John Durham. The resolution claims Schiff knowingly misled the country and cost taxpayers millions of dollars while pushing a lie for political gain. The Durham report concluded that the FBI had no basis to investigate then-candidate Trump in 2016 and beyond, and rogue FBI agents launched the investigation in bad faith.
Fox News: North Dakota Gov Doug Burgum moving toward 2024 Republican presidential run
Republican Doug Burgum, the current governor of North Dakota and former software company CEO, is exploring a potential 2024 presidential bid. Burgum is reportedly working with presidential campaign advisors and is shooting TV ads for a potential launch. He would be considered a dark-horse contender in a field of expected candidates, including frontrunner Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, and Tim Scott. Burgum is known for his business acumen and could focus his campaign on the economy and energy. However, he could also face scrutiny for his recent moves to restrict transgender rights and access to abortions.
Doug Burgum, the governor of North Dakota, is considering joining the race for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Burgum, a former software company CEO, is well regarded for his business acumen and has been shooting TV ads for a potential presidential launch. Despite a lack of national name recognition, sources suggest Burgum could focus his campaign platforms on the economy and energy. Burgum recently signed legislation banning abortions six weeks after gestation and has implemented laws restricting transgender rights. He would be joining a competitive field of expected candidates vying to succeed former president Donald Trump.
National Review: The Corner: The "Real" RFK Jr. Is No Tribune of Truth
Matthew Scully's praise for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is misguided due to RFK Jr.'s long-standing record of peddling conspiratorial falsehoods and lies, including false claims about President George W. Bush's environmental policies, spreading election conspiracy claims, and writing a pre-Covid anti-vax screed riddled with errors ( ). Despite Scully's suggestion that RFK Jr. is a truth-teller being unable to tolerate intellectual dishonesty in his antagonists, RFK Jr.'s own chronic intellectual dishonesty is the root of his troubles . RFK Jr.'s recent resurgence, despite his campaign against MMR vaccines for decades, should not be cheered by any serious conservative, given his lack of credibility .

Fox News: Biden campaign claims Dems have 'never been more united' despite polls, concern over president's abilities
President Biden's re-election campaign claims that the Democratic Party is "more united" behind the president and vice president than ever. Despite recent polling that shows concern from members of the party about Biden's age and ability to serve another term in office, the campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez says Biden "can deliver historic results for the American people". Rodriguez dismisses polling showing concern from Americans over whether Biden is fit for another term in office, stating that "polls and pundits have underestimated Joe Biden his entire life". A recent NBC News poll revealed that almost 3 out of 4 Americans do not believe he should seek the White House again due to concerns over his age.

Black Americans overwhelmingly support the proposal while Republicans are overwhelmingly opposed.
Washington Free Beacon: Groundhog Day: Dems Punt Vote On Controversial Judicial Nominee Once Again
Democrats in the Senate Judiciary Committee delayed a vote on Michael Delaney's nomination to the First Circuit Court of Appeals. Delaney has faced controversy over his mishandling of a civil case involving a 15-year-old sexual assault victim and his omission of his role in a Ponzi scheme. Left-wing groups have also called on Democrats to oppose his confirmation due to his work with a conservative-leaning think tank. Republicans on the committee criticized Democrats for even considering Delaney's confirmation, arguing that it goes against their stance on victims' rights.
Fox News: Pelosi's office denies her daughter is aiding Feinstein to help Adam Schiff win a Senate seat
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's daughter, Nancy Corinne Prowda, has been seen aiding Senator Dianne Feinstein at the U.S. Capitol after she recently returned from California for medical reasons in a move seen as an attempt to help House Rep. Adam Schiff win Feinstein's Senate seat. However, Pelosi's office denies that Prowda is assisting Feinstein for political reasons. Schiff faces competition from Rep. Barbara Lee and Rep. Katie Porter in the Senate race, and if Feinstein decides to retire early, it could hurt his chances of winning the seat .
Fox News: Lankford blasts wasteful spending, government 'fumbles': Million-dollar wine trails and Ecuador drag shows
Oklahoma GOP Senator James Lankford released the seventh volume of his "Federal Fumbles" series highlighting government spending waste. He criticized wasteful and unnecessary uses of taxpayer funds amid the federal government’s debt ceiling negotiations. Lankford’s waste report includes examples such as $20,600 spent on “Drag Shows in Ecuador” and $25,000 spent on a Yoko Ono exhibit in Springfield, Missouri, using federal tax dollars.
Lankford believes “sunshine” is the best way to trim the fat on needless government spending. He stated that we will see meaningful spending cuts through the debt ceiling negotiations but noted that one vote will not solve everything. Lankford’s report highlights several different price tags the federal government has paid for absurd spending including a $66,000 book titled “Mexican Soundscapes of the Colonial Era” and $1 million for the DC “dance equity organisation” the Dance Institute of Washington.
The Epoch Times: Putin Has 'Vendetta Against Me', Architect of Sanctions Regime Says
Bill Browder, a UK-based financier, claims that Russian President Vladimir Putin has a personal vendetta against him due to his role in the global sanctioning of oligarchs. Browder played a key role in the passing of the Magnitsky Act, which allows the sanctioning of Russian officials involved in the imprisonment of his lawyer Sergey Magnitsky, who died under questionable circumstances. Putin has gone on a personal vendetta against Browder due to this Act. Browder alleges that Putin and his associates have stolen approximately a trillion dollars over the past 23 years. Russia has also issued eight Interpol arrest warrants against Browder.
Browder is asking the UK government to sanction more people, coordinating with other countries for a larger collective effort. The UK has sanctioned 85 individuals and 6 entities, primarily Russians and Saudis, under the Global Human Rights regime, and over a thousand individuals and entities under a separate Russia Regime after the 2014 invasion of Ukraine. The Magnitsky-style sanctioning regimes now exist in 35 countries, one of the most feared tools according to Browder, and he claims kleptocracy should be listed as a sanctionable offense. Whether or not these changes can be made in the future remains to be seen. The Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office has yet to respond to Browder's request for comment.

Townhall: What is 'Common Good Capitalism,' and Why Are Some Conservatives So Enamored?
Sen. Marco Rubio coined the term "common-good capitalism," which aims to create a more balanced and stable economy that better serves the nation. However, the vagueness of the concept makes it hard to pin down, and its advocates often mistake problems caused by government intervention for problems inherent in the free market. Common-good capitalists usually list what they see as wrong with the free market and offer even more government interventions as supposed solutions. Ultimately, it implies a greater role for the government in regulating and directing the market to achieve the fancies of common-good capitalists, raising concerns about inefficiency, corruption, and political capture by special interests.

These allegations led to a proposal at the bank’s shareholder meeting, calling for an investigation and clarification of its position on such discrimination; the proposal was ultimately defeated. The Epoch Times: Videos of ATF Visits Spark Concern Among Gun Rights Advocates
Videos of law enforcement agents inquiring about firearms or gun parts purchased by residents are causing concern in the Second Amendment community. The videos show ATF agents and police officers going door-to-door and asking residents about firearms or components they allegedly purchased, in some cases confiscating the items. The agents are friendly and repeatedly tell the residents they aren’t in trouble and have done nothing wrong. The law enforcement officers don’t have a search warrant in the online videos, and in this situation, the law enforcement officers have minimal authority. Citizens can avoid misunderstandings with law enforcement by researching the law and knowing their legal rights. If law enforcement has a search warrant, citizens should be cooperative and polite, get the agent’s name and contact information, and let them know they can’t answer any questions without an attorney. Even with a warrant, the person named on the warrant is not obligated to do more than allow the search to happen. Gun Owners of America is working to change the law so that people won’t have to worry about government agencies writing and changing laws with no congressional authority. (Hashtag: )
