Fox News: Republicans push bill empowering local law enforcement to enforce immigration laws following Title 42's demise
Republicans push bill empowering local law enforcement to enforce immigration laws following Title 42's demise
Republican lawmakers are seeking to grant state and local law enforcement the authority to enforce US immigration law. The bill, known as The Empowering Law Enforcement Act, would also provide flexibility regarding the detention of criminals in the US illegally and ensure they are not released back into American communities. The lawmakers claim the Biden administration is "ignoring federal laws and facilitating historic levels of illegal immigration," and that this bill would empower law enforcement to enforce immigration laws, even in sanctuary cities, and restore law and order. The Republican and conservative groups believe that now is the time to provide more tools to state and local law enforcement officers who are bearing the burden of the border crisis and mass illegal immigration surges.

California Legislature Proposes Unemployment Benefit for Illegal Aliens
California state legislature is considering a bill to provide unemployment benefits to illegal aliens. State Senator Maria Elena Durazo proposed Senate Bill 277, which will offer income assistance to unemployed “excluded workers” who are illegal immigrants. The program’s implementation will be handed over to the Employment Development Department, and execution will depend on sufficient funds allocated by the legislature. The bill also prohibits the EDD from requesting an individual’s nationality or employment status and grants applicants the authority to self-declare their eligibility. Governor Gavin Newsom vetoed a similar bill last year due to operational issues and fiscal concerns.

Arizona rep. roasts Biden for 'gaslighting' Americans on border: 'Everything they say is pretty much a lie'
Rep. Eli Crane, R-Ariz., accuses President Biden and DHS Secretary Mayorkas of lying and facilitating illegal immigration, as communities struggle with an influx of migrants. Biden claimed the southern border looks "much better" during a bike ride near his vacation home in Rehoboth, Delaware, but multiple communities have issued emergency declarations due to the strain on resources. Mayorkas said border patrol agents have seen a 50% drop in crossings, but six suspects on the FBI's terror watchlist were recently detained.

The Epoch Times: Republican Committee Sets Out Political Priorities in 2023-2024 Election Cycle
Republican Committee Sets Out Political Priorities in 2023-2024 Election Cycle
The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) is prioritizing legislative races in several states for the 2023-2024 election cycle to protect Republican majorities in state chambers from Democrat-affiliated groups. Currently, Republicans control 56 state chambers while Democrats hold 41, but Democrats are targeting eight legislative chambers across five states to take control of a majority of state legislatures in the country. The RSLC aims to maintain the GOP majority in the Virginia House and flip the Virginia Senate in 2023, while defending GOP supermajorities in Louisiana and Mississippi, and holding seats gained in the last election in New Jersey. In 2024, the RSLC wants to defend the GOP majority in several states and flip the Pennsylvania House and the state legislatures in Minnesota and Michigan.

Facebook Claimed Townhall.com Op-ed on US Border Crisis by Vietnam Refugee Is ‘Hate Speech’
Facebook removed an op-ed by a Vietnamese refugee, calling it "hate speech" after the author warned about America's border crisis. Captain Hung Cao compared his family's seven-year journey to gain citizenship legally to the crisis of illegal immigrants crossing the southern border, calling it someone "cutting in line." Facebook's censorship was blasted by Cao and Polaris National Security PAC, of which he is a senior advisor. The post has since been restored, but the incident highlights ongoing concerns about Big Tech's censorship of conservative voices.

Fox News: Radicals are trying to redefine 'woman.' It's why America needs a Women's Bill of Rights
Radicals are trying to redefine 'woman.' It's why America needs a Women's Bill of Rights
The Women’s Bill of Rights seeks to preserve the definition of “woman” as an adult human female, related to biological sex, and not subjective gender identity. Radical gender ideologues want to redefine womanhood, which will have serious consequences for equal opportunity, privacy, safety, and freedom of expression. The WBOR can provide legal and linguistic clarity, and ensure that females do not lose out on equal opportunity, privacy, or safety. The bill simply codifies current case law that forbids unfair discrimination and allows the law to recognize sex when relevant. Opponents have labeled it "anti-transgender" but it only recognizes biological differences between the sexes and protects women's rights. Every state should adopt the WBOR or similar protections, and Congress should pass it at the federal level to ensure that women’s rights are not sacrificed amid social changes that promote greater inclusivity or gender equality. CNN Tags Republicans As 'Fascist' 'Nazis' For Alleged Book Bans
CNN Tonight discusses conservative attempts to "ban books" and leftists re-writing books, with the panel agreeing that book bans are fascist and worse than revisions. The discussion was sparked by Salman Rushdie condemning both attempts at controlling school library content and revisionism. Conservatives were labeled "even more Orwellian" for their bans on books in schools and speech codes. Leftists' revisions were criticized for removing sexually explicit books and ignoring fake news in books. Errol Louis reminds viewers that book burning is linked to author censorship and calls for more involvement in the fight against book banning.

2 'Squad' Members Insult Cops as They're Only No Votes Heard on House Floor to Honor Fallen Officers
Democratic Reps. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Cori Bush of Missouri were the only voices opposing a resolution honoring police officers who died in the line of duty. They later issued a statement saying the resolution “is not a referendum on support for the safety of first responders. It is a document intended to advance Republicans’ false narrative around supporting law enforcement." Republican Rep. Troy Nehls of Texas called out Bush and Tlaib on Twitter. "Their stance is simple: they want to defund, dismantle, and disparage police officers."

The Epoch Times: Bud Light Sales Crash Worsens in Latest Week Since Dylan Mulvaney Fiasco
Bud Light Sales Crash Worsens in Latest Week Since Dylan Mulvaney Fiasco
Bud Light's sales continue to plummet due to backlash over their partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Sales of Bud Light fell by 23.6 percent in the week ended May 6, a drop from the 23.3 percent slide suffered in the final week of April. Anheuser-Busch, the company that makes Bud Light, experienced a 9.7 percent drop in sales volumes in the first week of May. The controversy surrounding the brand was sparked by Mulvaney's promotion of the brand, which featured a custom-made beer can with their face on it. Many conservatives called for a boycott of the brand, accusing it of promoting a transgender agenda. The boycott was driven by misinformation and confusion circulating on social media, according to Anheuser-Busch CEO Michel Doukeris, who insists that Mulvaney's involvement wasn't part of an official campaign. An HSBC analyst recently downgraded Anheuser-Busch InBev's stock to 'hold,' saying there are "deeper problems" than Anheuser-Busch admits after the company's marketing engagement with the transgender influencer became a hot topic.

Marjorie Taylor Greene puts Merrick Garland in her sights with impeachment articles: 'Violation of justice'

Greene accuses Garland of weaponizing and politicizing the US justice system against the American people. She cites several controversies and scandals under Garland's tenure, including the FBI's targeting of parents concerned about their kids' education and his refusal to prosecute leftist extremists. Greene previously introduced a separate resolution to impeach FBI Director Christopher Wray for facilitating the development of a federal police force to intimidate and entrap American citizens.

Corporations Threatening Free Speech and Religious Freedoms Exposed in Business Index
The Alliance Defending Freedom has released their Viewpoint Diversity Score Business Index, which highlights the intolerance major corporations have shown towards the freedom of religion and speech. Out of 75 businesses evaluated in the index, only two scored above 25% in terms of respecting free speech and religious freedom. The poor performance is due to policies and practices implemented by businesses like JPMorgan Chase, Alphabet, Meta, Microsoft, and PayPal that threaten the fundamental freedoms of Americans.

The New American: Texas Advances Bill to Allow Chaplains at Public Schools - The New American
Texas Advances Bill to Allow Chaplains at Public Schools - The New American
Texas lawmakers advanced a bill that would make it legal for public schools to employ or accept as a volunteer a chaplain to provide support, services, and programs for students as assigned by the board of trustees or governing body. The chaplains could function instead of or in addition to school counselors, but each chaplain would have to be certified and not be on a sex-offender registry. Critics say most school counselors have a master’s degree along with two years’ experience in the classroom and that allowing chaplains in public schools would blur the separation between church and state. However, supporters argue that chaplains could be another arrow in the quiver of schools that need healing following tragic events, and that opposition was baseless since schools could make their own decisions. The legislation would not require chaplains in place of counselors; it would only make it legal for schools to choose that route.

Prozac Is Unsafe and Ineffective for Young People, Analysis Finds
Prozac (fluoxetine) is unsafe and ineffective in treating depression in children and adolescents, according to a new analysis that revealed serious drug harms were underreported or excluded from medical journals. Clinical reports showed trial participants attempted suicide after taking fluoxetine, but these events were excluded from the final journal publication. Despite notifying the journal of the discrepancies repeatedly, the editor refused to correct the record. Journals turning a blind eye to such discrepancies can distort medical literature and prescribing guidelines and harm patients.

The Epoch Times: Covenant School Seeks Intervention in Open Records Lawsuits as Journal and Suicide Note Delivered to Court
Covenant School Seeks Intervention in Open Records Lawsuits as Journal and Suicide Note Delivered to Court
The Covenant School is seeking court intervention in a public records lawsuit against the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD), which concerns open records laws being violated by the department. The documents contain information relating to the Covenant Presbyterian Church which may impair employees' and students' privacy, as well as causing security and safety issues for the school. While this delivery forms part of a lawsuit against the MNPD, there is no ongoing criminal prosecution, and the release of the redacted documents is not in the public domain yet.

On Tuesday, May 16, lawyers for the Covenant School filed a motion to become an intervening party because of confidential information contained in documents relating to the Covenant Presbyterian Church contained in the lawsuit. The documents that the lawsuit seeks to access may include and/or relate to sensitive information owned by The Covenant School, such as the school's schematics, so it is seeking court intervention to protect its interests relating to the release of records. The Tennessee Firearms Association and the National Police Association also filed suits seeking investigative documents related to the assault on the school.

Forbes: How Treasury’s New Hydrogen Rule Could Undermine EPA Emissions Goals
How Treasury’s New Hydrogen Rule Could Undermine EPA Emissions Goals
The US Environmental Protection Agency plans to reduce carbon pollution by implementing low-GHG hydrogen technology in natural gas power plants. However, a draft proposal by the Treasury Department's implementation of 45V tax credits is poised to cause delays in the scaling up of such technology by including an "additionality" requirement. Critics suggest that this would significantly stifle the hydrogen market and undermine the economic, job, and environmental benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act. Proponents of the requirement, including wind and solar industries, argue that it is necessary, citing reports from Princeton and MIT. Companies investing billions in low-GHG hydrogen urge the USDOT to adopt a rule that recognizes the realities of power generation today and reduces barriers to access.
