Biden makes unscheduled visit to pro-abortion event honoring Pelosi: ‘She’s so incredible’
President Biden surprised attendees at a gala honoring Rep. Nancy Pelosi hosted by pro-abortion group EMILY's List. PJ Media: Adam Schiff STILL Insists Trump Colluded With Russia Despite Durham Report
Adam Schiff STILL Insists Trump Colluded With Russia Despite Durham Report
The Durham Report found no evidence of collusion at the start of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, but Rep. Adam Schiff insists Trump colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 election. Schiff claims that most Americans would agree that providing polling data to a Russian intelligence agent is collusion, but the report specifically states there is no evidence to support his claim. Schiff's false claims about former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn and his pathetic attempts to hold onto the collusion story reveal the left's hypocrisy.

Red State: Terrified Biden Will Cave on Debt Ceiling Talks, House Democrats Launch Campaign Undermine McCarthy
Terrified Biden Will Cave on Debt Ceiling Talks, House Democrats Launch Campaign Undermine McCarthy
House Democrats plan to collect signatures to raise the debt ceiling via discharge petition to bypass House Republican leadership and force a vote. Biden feels confident about a deal with Republicans to make spending cuts in exchange for a debt ceiling increase as a procedural move is being considered to avoid economic catastrophe. Democrats need five Republicans to crossover and vote with them but this is unlikely as Republicans are united across both chambers of Congress. It's looking more likely that Republicans will make a victory as pressure mounts on Democrats to give in and come to a deal.

Fox News: Cherelle Parker hospitalized after winning Philadelphia Democratic mayoral primary
Cherelle Parker hospitalized after winning Philadelphia Democratic mayoral primary
Philadelphia mayoral candidate Cherelle Parker was hospitalized after securing her victory in the city's Democratic primary due to a "dental issue". Parker ran a campaign centered on law and order and securing hundreds more police officers on the streets of Philadelphia to stop lawlessness that is plaguing the city. Her victory in the general election against Republican David Oh is almost a foregone conclusion.

The Blaze: North Carolina Republicans override Democratic governor and put 12-week abortion ban into effect
North Carolina Republicans override Democratic governor and put 12-week abortion ban into effect
North Carolina has passed a pro-life bill after Republican lawmakers overrode the veto of pro-abortion Democratic Governor, Roy Cooper. Previously, North Carolina allowed abortions beyond the first trimester, but now the lethal procedure is prohibited after 12 weeks. The Care for Women, Children and Families Act includes provisions to protect unborn babies from discrimination based on sex, race, or Down syndrome, as well as protecting abortion survivors and supporting maternal health and child care. The bill was passed after former Democrat state representative, Tricia Cotham, switched parties, giving the GOP the supermajority it needed.

Liberty Nation: Democrat Governors Target US Citizens in Name of Fighting Hate
Democrat Governors Target US Citizens in Name of Fighting Hate
Democratic-run states such as New York and California are using local governing authority to label US citizens as "domestic enemies" through the strategic application of the word "hate". California has created a new Department of Hate and a statewide hotline to report "hate incidents," while Michigan's ethnic intimidation law seeks to prosecute those who intimidate or harass others based on their race, religion, gender or national origin. The Biden administration is also using "hate" to undermine the constitutional rights of American citizens, with Secretary of State Antony Blinken promoting the "Anti-Racist Cities Network" as a way to "promote equity and inclusion" in societies. The implementation of these policies threatens basic freedoms and undermines civil liberties.

Middletown Amends Zoning Code to Ban Cannabis Sale
Middletown's City Council bans cannabis sales within city limits due to state-level enforcement issues and an influx of illegal cannabis products. Violators face fines or jail time. Police and code enforcement will work together to enforce the new code on a local level. Despite New York legalizing recreational marijuana, regulations governing the industry are still delayed. The amendment is in the best interest of the city residents and can be revisited when conditions change.

Trans Row Rocks Oxford University as 44 Dons Back Gender-Critical Speaker's Talk
A dispute has emerged at Oxford University over attempts to block a gender-critical speaker due to speak at the Oxford Union in May. Academics, including Richard Dawkins, have warned that freedom of speech is at risk following moves to deplatform Professor Kathleen Stock. The speakers were accused of being transphobic in context of their view that “trans women are women” is a fiction. More than 40 academics have signed an open letter to the Oxford University Students Union stating universities should be “places where contentious views can be openly discussed.” Some students of the Oxford Union have called for Stock’s invitation to be rescinded. A protest is planned on the day of the event.

Stellantis Recalls Nearly 220,000 Jeep SUVs Over Fire Risk, Says to Park Vehicles Outside
Stellantis is recalling 219,000 Jeep Cherokee SUVs around the world after discovering a potential fire hazard involving the power liftgate, which may cause an electrical short leading to a vehicle fire, according to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. A fix is expected to be sent out by the end of June, but in the meantime, owners are warned to avoid parking their Jeeps inside garages or covered other areas. About 132,000 vehicles in the US, 23,000 in Canada, 3,000 in Mexico, and 60,500 outside North America are affected by the recall. Last year, Stellantis opened an investigation as an increasing trend of cargo compartment fires was experienced in Jeep Cherokee vehicles. Stellantis has also halted the construction of part of its Canadian electric vehicle (EV) plant, which is valued at C$5bn ($4.1bn), due to discussions with the Canadian government around investment support.

Dear Cheapskate: Oodles of Hotel Toiletries, Lawn Mower Agreement, and an IRS Goof-up, Too!
Help those in need by donating your extra hotel toiletries to a homeless or women's shelter, or to a church ministry team. They may also come in handy for organizations that help children in third-world countries.

Splitting the cost of a lawn mower with your neighbors is a great idea, but make sure to have a written agreement from the start to avoid future misunderstandings. Consider issues such as maintenance, storage, gas, and the possibility of loaning the mower to other neighbors.

Spectator USA: Is Meghan Markle trying to be the new Elizabeth II?
Is Meghan Markle trying to be the new Elizabeth II?
Meghan Markle made a vapid speech at an awards ceremony in New York, declaring her commitment to daily acts of service, kindness, advocacy, grace, and fairness. Her speech copied Princess Elizabeth's famous words in a decidedly twenty-first-century spin. However, Meghan's exhortation that "daily acts of service" will be the means by which people will seize their emancipation is hard to swallow, as she has made a fortune from Netflix and Spotify and railed against her husband's family.

The Economist: How a frontline city became Ukraine’s romantic capital
How a frontline city became Ukraine’s romantic capital
Kramatorsk, Ukraine, a city on the front line, has become a romantic destination for soldiers fighting in nearby Bakhmut, attracting their wives and girlfriends to rent apartments by the day or hour. With no hotels, a network of apartments have become available to rent, while the city's flower shops, gift shops, restaurants and cafes have boosted profits, and two brothels have opened. Despite being within range of multiple-rocket systems and S-300 missiles just 20km away from the nearest Russian position, the women say they offer vital support to their soldier clients.

The counteroffensive may be carried out in the Zaporizhzhia region where a vital triangle area is located. Russia is preparing for an offensive and evacuating Ukrainians in the area to Russian territory.

Sen. Rubio Releases Several Hundred Page Report on COVID Origins
Sen. Marco Rubio released a comprehensive report detailing his findings of the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic, which concludes that the virus likely leaked out from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) in late 2019. The report argues that the Chinese Communist Party covered up the incident by keeping information from the international community until it became uncontrollable, punishing whistleblowers, and destroying key clinical evidence. Furthermore, the nature of the incident, which potentially involves a serious biocontainment failure, is believed to have contributed to the severity of the pandemic.

Forbes: How Long Will It Take For China’s Nuclear Power To Replace Coal?
How Long Will It Take For China’s Nuclear Power To Replace Coal?
China has been expanding its nuclear power fleet in order to provide stable, reliable, clean electricity for its growing economy. The country's latest Five Year Plan targets 70 GW of nuclear capacity by 2025, with the goal of achieving emissions peak by 2030 and carbon neutrality by 2060. China currently holds 57 GW of operable nuclear capacity, fulfilling 81% of its 2025 target, and is the world's third-largest nuclear energy producer. However, the contribution from China's nuclear to the current electricity fuel mix remains minimal, with fossil fuels supplying almost 70% of the country's electricity in 2022.

Liberty Nation: Bank CEO Compensation Under Spotlight in Senate SVB Hearing
Bank CEO Compensation Under Spotlight in Senate SVB Hearing
Former CEOs of regional banks testified before the US Senate Banking Committee, with lawmakers raising concerns over CEO compensation in failing institutions. Democratic and Republican senators both urged greater regulatory control on CEO pay after some bank leaders received substantial salaries despite the poor health of their companies. Legislators claimed that executives who lobby for weaker banking regulations enable banking turmoil and pose a threat to the broader economy. A bill has been introduced which would let the FDIC recollect compensation received by failed executives in the past five years.

Though US senators have raised concerns about compensating bank CEOs when their institutions perform poorly, such legislation might carry risks in the long run. Some libertarian-leaning economists have opposed such measures, arguing that it is not the state's job to rescue failing banks. Previous studies have shown that no link exists between CEO compensation and bank failures, while technology company Apple and Marvel Entertainment owner Disney have seen success with well-compensated CEOs. Opponents argue such interference is an example of politicians treading on the free market.

Forbes: Can Utilities Prep The Market For A Deluge Of Electric Vehicles?
Can Utilities Prep The Market For A Deluge Of Electric Vehicles?
The utilities industry in the US needs to invest in the transmission and distribution infrastructure over the next decade to meet the rising demand for electric vehicles (EVs), as the number of EVs on the road is expected to double to 26.4 million by 2030. The growth in EV adoption also offers an opportunity to decarbonize transportation and transform the energy industry, requiring a significant expansion in charging infrastructure. The Edison Electric Institute estimates that at a minimum, the industry needs to build infrastructure to support 10 million charging ports to meet demand. The grid must grow at a rate of 2-3% per year to hit net zero.

Electric vehicles are expected to hit an inflection point in terms of battery technology and price by 2027, giving utilities the opportunity to manage power needs. Electric vehicle charging times are usually overnight, which means they occur during off-peak times, resulting in a more efficient electrical system. Furthermore, electric vehicles create fewer heat-trapping emissions compared to gasoline-powered cars. The major oil companies are actively engaged in the electrification market with their customers demanding greener fuels while shareholders demand disclosure of environmental risks. Policymakers are also supportive, with the Biden Administration wanting half of all US-sold vehicles to run on electricity by 2030. The utilities sector needs to invest in its network and charging infrastructure to support the electrification of the economy and decarbonize transportation.

The Epoch Times: Social Security for Younger Retirees
Social Security for Younger Retirees
Should you wait until 70 to start Social Security? In some cases, starting benefits early may be the best choice. If you have health issues or a family history of a shorter lifespan, starting benefits at age 62 could be beneficial. Taking reduced benefits prior to full retirement age may impact your widow’s benefits, but if your spouse’s benefit is already higher than yours, then it isn't an issue. Retirement calculators on the Social Security Administration website can help you estimate future benefits.

Louisiana House passes bill banning sex reassignment medical care for minors, citing concerns over protecting children until they are mature enough to make decisions. Michelle Obama co-founded and is a strategic partner at Plezi Nutrition, which produces sweetened beverages for children aged six and up. The company's first product is a flavored juice drink blend that many health professionals say is not healthy for kids. The drinks are also more expensive than other non-soda drinks targeting children. This has raised concerns about Obama's alleged profiting from children's sugar addiction.

Smith expressed admiration for mass shooters and neo-Nazi paramilitary groups and carried a note cursing police inside his body armor so they could find it after his death. Authorities began their investigation after a retired police officer reported concerns about Smith's behavior at a gun range.

The Epoch Times: Blue Hydrangeas
Blue Hydrangeas
A blue flowering hydrangea is a great Mother’s Day gift, but how to turn white-flowering hydrangeas blue? Contrary to popular belief, adding nails or pennies to the soil won't help with the color change. Only two species of hydrangeas have blue flowers: Hydrangea macrophylla (bigleaf hydrangea) and Hydrangea serrata (mountain hydrangea), but no white hydrangeas turn blue no matter what. The plants will only turn pink or red since color depends on aluminum being present in the roots, which is more soluble in acidic soils. To lower soil pH and increase acidity, plant aluminum sulfate carefully around the hydrangeas, test the soil annually with a kit, and add small amounts of aluminum sulfate or sulphur as needed. Too much nitrogen or phosphorus in the soil will promote the pink color you don’t want.
