Pressuring Biden to Walk? ABC Cries Over GOP's Demand for 'Steep Cuts'
Negotiations between President Biden and congressional Republicans on lifting the debt ceiling are making progress, but Republicans are demanding spending cuts in exchange. However, there are no "steep spending cuts" on the table, only a proposal to slow the rate of increased spending. House Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy has proposed tougher work requirements for federal aid programs, but President Biden downplayed its significance. Both sides want to prevent default, which could lead to millions of jobs being lost and the economy tanking.

If Fox News Thought Firing Tucker Hurt, It's in for an Even Bigger Nightmare Next: Report
Fox News may be losing more than viewers after it fired Tucker Carlson last month, as other hosts are reportedly considering leaving the network to join Carlson in his new venture on Twitter. Variety reported that Carlson was fired as part of Fox News' settlement with Dominion Voting Systems over claims about the 2020 election, an agreement made to avoid a risky jury trial that would have struck a major blow to the conservative-leaning network. Other Fox News hosts may be hesitant to continue working for a network that made its most popular host expendable and caved on a free speech issue.

These hosts may also be concerned about Fox News losing its loyal audience and identity without the effective marketing concept of differentiation that it previously had. While some hosts, such as Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham, will likely continue to stake out their conservative positions on the network, others may be considering a move to join Carlson, who has secured the services of Hollywood media lawyer Bryan Freedman to untangle him from Fox News. With Carlson's new show expected to appear on Twitter any day, it remains to be seen who might be joining him before long.

Ecuadorian president invokes 'nuclear option,' disbands legislature after attempted ouster
Ecuador's President Guillermo Lasso has dismissed the National Assembly and disbanded the legislature, amid criticism of his government's handling of the country's current crisis. The move was an attempt to enact business-friendly policies and push through tax cuts and an appeal to stop the President was filed. Lasso can now govern for up to six months by decree under the oversight of the Constitutional Court.

Lasso's decision was met with strong opposition, including from Indigenous Ecuadorians who have nearly paralyzed the country in recent years. Protests are expected in the coming days, and Lasso's governing powers are now limited. The US State Department has urged all parties to ensure that democratic processes are carried out for the benefit of Ecuadorians.

Michigan law now prohibits retaliation against abortion-seeking employees under an amendment to the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act. The new law, which will go into effect next year, will ensure that workers cannot be treated differently for receiving an abortion, a provision that advocates say is important to ensure employers don't discriminate based on personal beliefs. Michigan has been one of the leading states in protecting abortion rights since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last year.

Never Back Down Communications Director Erin Perrine said the widespread support underscores DeSantis's successful leadership which should serve as a blueprint for the country and Floridians know DeSantis is the fresh face of conservatism America needs. Trump's campaign response claims DeSantis was "terrorizing" legislature into endorsing him, but did not name any legislation he threatened to veto.

The Epoch Times: House Vote: Rep. George Santos Survives Expulsion Resolution
House Vote: Rep. George Santos Survives Expulsion Resolution
Republicans voted in favor of referring a resolution to expel Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) to the Ethics Committee, while all five Democrats abstained by voting “present.” The measure was introduced by Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.), who urged Republicans to take action against Santos. The congressman was charged with 13 federal crimes and arrested on May 10, but released shortly thereafter and maintains his innocence. The 13-count indictment against Santos accused him of defrauding prospective political supporters and making false statements to the House of Representatives. The measure would require significant bipartisan support to pass.

The Republican-controlled House voted to refer a resolution to expel Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) to the Ethics Committee, despite his alleged crimes. Mayor of Long Beach Robert Garcia introduced a privileged resolution to force a floor vote on Santos, urging Republicans to take action against him. Santos, who was charged with 13 federal crimes, called the allegations biased and said he was innocent until proven guilty. The measure required a two-thirds majority vote to pass and would remove Santos from Congress. The House Speaker said there is a process, and Santos is considered innocent until proven guilty.

Two former Twitter employees, Ahmad Abouammo and Ali Alzabarah, were also accused of spying for the Saudi government. They allegedly shared information on anonymous users critical of the Saudi government, violating Twitter's privacy policy. Because Saudi Arabia is a major Middle Eastern market for Twitter, the lawsuit claims that the company ignored the espionage due to financial motives.
