The Epoch Times: Homeless Veterans Replaced by Illegal Immigrants at Hotel in NY Suburb
Homeless military veterans were moved from The Crossroads Hotel in Newburgh, New York to make room for illegal immigrants transported from New York City. The YIT Foundation paid the hotel $88 per room daily to house the veterans. New York City has seen the arrival of more than 60,000 illegal immigrants over the past year. Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus, and the Executive of Rockland County, Ed Day, have declared states of emergency in their counties due to the crisis. New York Assemblyman Brian Maher opposes sending immigrants to communities outside the city. Orange County Legislator Genesis Ramos, a life-long resident of Newburgh and the daughter of immigrants from Honduras, was among a group outside The Crossroads Hotel on May 11, to welcome and support the immigrants arriving that day.

The endorsement list includes Young Kim of California, Maria Salazar of Florida, Mariannette Miller of Iowa, Ashley Hinson of Iowa, Lori Chavez-DeRemer of Oregon, Nancy Mace of South Carolina, Monica De La Cruz of Texas, and Jen Kiggans of Virginia. Wendy Davis, a circuit court judge who is seeking election to the House out of Indiana, is the new candidate endorsed by WFW. Republican PAC is expected to host several fundraisers before the 2024 elections with an effort to support the participating women candidates and ensure that they have the necessary resources to win.
Fox News: Durham report gives credence to congressional, civilian claims the FBI is 'hopelessly corrupted': Nunes
Former House Intelligence Committee member Devin Nunes believes that the Durham report has proven the FBI and the Department of Justice to be corrupt; he has called for Congress to take action to address this. Many Americans believe that the FBI is corrupt and should be defunded and replaced by an agency that is not politicized and weaponized like the Mueller and Durham probes have alleged. Nunes also claimed that federal law enforcement worked to undermine Hunter Biden's laptop in the election, suggesting that it was a scheme similar to the Russia hoax with Clinton's emails.
Red State: Moore to the Point - Yeah, but YOUR Extremists Are Way Worse
A House hearing entitled “Countering Left-Wing Organized Violence” was held, with witnesses testifying primarily about incidents of left-wing violence. Both Republicans and Democrats took partisan turns, with the former highlighting issues with left-wing political violence and the latter claiming that right-wing extremism posed the most serious threat to the homeland. It is unclear what the ultimate point of framing violence as a left vs. right debate is, or if it suggests that violence of one sort is acceptable, or that whichever “side” has the worst or most violence can be discredited and silenced.
Fox News: Elon Musk defends bashing Soros in exchange with reporter: He bought ‘pet prosecutors’
Elon Musk defends himself against allegations of being “antisemitic” over criticism of billionaire George Soros and his funding of “pet prosecutors” that do the minimum against violent criminals. Musk states that he considers himself a “pro-semite” and refuses to back down from his statements. Soros has received renewed criticism from Republicans after it was revealed that he funds left-wing district attorneys that represent 20% of Americans across the country. Musk claims that Soros wants to “erode the very fabric of civilization” and that his dismantling of the legal system was intentional.

National Review: The Corner: U.S. Charges Ex-Apple Self-Driving-Car Engineer with Tech Theft as Part of Crackdown on China and Russia
An ex-Apple engineer has been charged with stealing company secrets, including the source code for a self-driving vehicle project, to benefit a Chinese competitor. The charges were part of a broader crackdown by the Justice Department against Russian and Chinese tech-transfer operations. The Disruptive Technology Strike Force, a collaboration between the Justice and Commerce Departments, coordinated four arrests and revealed other cases that relate to technology transfer to Russia, Iran and China. These include the role of a Chinese firm in facilitating Iranian production of materials needed in weapons of mass destruction, a Greek man’s efforts to transfer restricted military information to Russia, and a scheme to transfer materials used in nose tips of intercontinental ballistic missiles to Iran.
Fox News: US would be crazy to ignore growing hazards of doing business in China
Chinese authorities are cracking down on American companies in China, with several firms having been raided in recent weeks. Despite many of the targeted businesses being in 'ordinary' fields, the business environment in China is anything but routine. The raids were part of a wider attempt by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to crack down on all business within China and remind American firms that they could face investigation, prosecution, or imprisonment for regular business activities. China's CCP now reserves the right to arbitrarily seize any documents, data, or property it deems relevant to national security, adding a long tradition of exploitation in the country. This move heightens the risk of doing business in China for American companies, and derisking is essential to protect the financial system that underpins US financial markets.

Fox News: 'Truly sorry': Church of England apologizes after mishandling of clerical sex abuse comes to light
The Church of England has apologized for its negligence in handling reports of alleged clerical sex abuse against a 16-year-old boy in the UK during the 1980s. The review found that the Church was negligent in handling abuse allegations in 2012 and 2013 from Matthew Ineson, who claimed he was sexually abused by the late Rev. Trevor Devamanikkam at the age of 16. Devamanikkam died by suicide in 2017 before he could appear in court on six counts of sexual abuse.
Former Archbishop of York John Sentamu has been suspended from ministry following the findings, but maintains that he acted in accordance with Church law and that the report displayed a "fundamental misunderstanding" of his duties. The review concluded that "the archbishop of York should have sought advice from his diocesan safeguarding adviser at the time as to how to proceed with the letter sent from the survivor." The Church has apologized for the abuse and for failing to respond adequately to the abuse.

Forbes: Here’s What Martha Stewart's Sports Illustrated Cover Says About Ageing
At 81, Martha Stewart is the oldest woman ever featured on the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition cover. While some applaud her for promoting health and wellness, others question the idea that women's beauty is best portrayed when scantily clad. Stewart views the cover as a way to inspire all women to challenge themselves to try new things, no matter what stage of life they are in. Her appearance on the cover reflects a shifting cultural paradigm in aging, where people of all ages are taking notice of the impact of longevity on life choices such as career, health, and happiness.

Stallone is also set to star in a reboot of "Cliffhanger" and recently took on his first leading role in a television series, "Tulsa King."
The Federalist: NYT Warps History To Support Cleopatra's 'Cultural Blackness'
Netflix's docudrama series "Queen Cleopatra" is facing criticism for its ahistorical depiction of the Egyptian queen as dark-skinned. Scholars, including Shelley Haley from the Society for Classical Studies, have claimed that Cleopatra was black. However, this idea of "cultural Blackness" reduces black history to oppression and ignores black achievement and culture. Cleopatra was an oppressor who used her wealth to promote her own power, not an icon of the oppressed. This theory serves the goal of the broader equity movement and privileges black scholars over others.

The Epoch Times: The NIH Studied COVID-19 Vaccine Injured in 2021—What Happened to Their Treatment?
The US government is not compensating Americans who experienced neurological complications from COVID-19 vaccines, as the FDA does not recognize them as safety signals. The NIH is allegedly withholding an important study that could persuade the FDA to recognize neurological events and broaden the compensation window. The Federalist: If Brazil's Firearm Ban Is So Great, Why Won't Anti-Gun Activists Bet On It?
Brazil’s new president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, has signed an executive order banning gun sales and ammunition, limiting people to a maximum of three guns, and banning concealed carry, with a plan to remove gun ownership licenses issued under former President Jair Bolsonaro. Advocates for gun control praised the decision. However, academics are unwilling to bet on the effect of this decision on Brazil's homicide rate. A study shows that every 1 percent increase in gun ownership leads to a 0.6 percent increase in the homicide rate. Yet, the high rates in Brazil dropped by 34% under Bolsonaro's presidency, attributed to changes in age demographics and increased investment in policing, even though weapons became more available.

Forbes: Once Again Jimmy Butler And The Miami Heat Are Blocking The Boston Celtics From The NBA Finals
The Boston Celtics face off against Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals for the third time. Butler's postseason performance has been stellar, with the Heat beating both the Milwaukee Bucks and the New York Knicks. The Celtics must watch out for Miami's ability to score in transition and turnovers, but Boston's strong starting lineup and deep bench give them the edge. Coaching and strategy may not matter if Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown play at their highest level, as they have the ability to make the Celtics the best all-around team in the NBA.
