Fox News: University of California board to vote on allowing illegal immigrant students to work on campus
University of California board to vote on allowing illegal immigrant students to work on campus
The University of California board of regents may allow illegal immigrants to work across its campuses in violation of federal law. The board will vote on a policy allowing "equitable student employment opportunities." Advocates have pushed for the move, which is likely to be highly controversial, particularly among Republicans who have opposed the mainstreaming of illegal immigration. California has already normalized those in the US illegally, offering driving licenses, in-state college tuition and some state-funded healthcare, despite the ongoing crisis at the southern border. The move is seen as a further step in this process.

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., wrote to Gov. Gavin Newsom opposing a proposal allowing illegal immigrants to be employed across the University of California. Issa noted prohibitions on illegal immigrant students receiving grants under the Federal Work-Study program, which could mean that the system would have to forgo future federal assistance. The proposed move violates federal law, but a new legal analysis drafted at UCLA argues that the law doesn't apply to states. Issa argued that the university and the state are trying to "pick and choose which federal laws to follow and which to declare null and void." The move is expected to be highly controversial, particularly among Republicans who have opposed the mainstreaming of illegal immigration.

‘Pick The Crops’ And ‘Clean Our Homes’: Democrats Love Illegal Aliens For Cheap Labor — And Votes
Democrats support illegal immigration because it provides cheap labor and potentially new voters. Republicans are attempting to crack down on lawlessness at the border, but Democrats have criticized these efforts and claim that immigrants are necessary for the economy. Party politicians are advocating for amnesty, with some claiming that it is a critical component of future election success. Meanwhile, Democrats such as former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Pramila Jayapal argue that immigrants are crucial for industries such as agriculture and tourism.

Fox News: Florida Democrat complains state won't have vegetable pickers once DeSantis’ immigration law goes into effect
Florida Democrat complains state won't have vegetable pickers once DeSantis’ immigration law goes into effect
Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D, said in an interview that the state's new anti-illegal immigration law will harm its economy by driving away workers, which will leave crops to rot in fields, and struggling construction sites that need workers. Hospitals with Medicaid recipients must now confirm a patient's immigration status, invalidates licenses for people who cannot verify their legal status, and penalties for transporting undocumented workers have harsher penalties. The law also allocates $12m to put migrants out of Florida and requires some employers to use E-verify to confirm workers' legal status.

The law further creates an unpleasant culture of fear for immigrants, which will devastate the economy and tourism industry. Hospitals checking the patient’s immigration status will compromise healthcare and deter people from seeking necessary medical care. Wasserman Schultz blamed Governor Ron DeSantis for allowing this "horrific situation," and instead of securing Florida for the hurricane season, DeSantis called out the National Guardsmen to assist in securing the southern border, dismantling the state's emergency response team. The new immigration law prevents Venezuelan, Cuban, and Haitian exiles living in mixed immigration status families from having equal opportunities, said Wasserman Schultz.

The Epoch Times: Ex-DOJ Official and Wife Had Bigger Roles in Dossier Than Known: Durham Report
Ex-DOJ Official and Wife Had Bigger Roles in Dossier Than Known: Durham Report
The newly released report of Special Counsel John Durham suggests that a top Justice Department official and his wife had a hand in shaping the political rumor sheet, the debunked dossier the FBI used to spy on Trump's campaign, which was paid for by the Clinton campaign and authored by a foreign FBI informant and his carousing researcher. According to the report, Nellie Ohr first plowed the ground for the dossier with a series of research reports she wrote for Fusion GPS, the D.C.-based opposition research firm the Clinton campaign commissioned to dig up dirt on Trump and Russia. Durham suggests Steele and his dossier collector followed Nellie Ohr’s leads, rather than Steele being the catalyst behind the dossier’s central claims.

The Ohrs directly influenced the dossier and the FBI’s investigation. Bruce and Nellie Ohr, who previously worked for the CIA, met with Steele in Washington at a critical time. Emails reveal that on July 30, 2016, the couple sat down with Steele and an unidentified “associate” of his at the Mayflower Hotel in D.C., and passed notes regarding their research into “suspicions that Russian government figures were supporting the candidacy of Donald Trump”. Bruce Ohr reportedly contacted then-deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe to relay their concerns. The Crossfire Hurricane team used Ohr as a conduit to continue to receive information from Steele about Trump throughout 2017, even after the FBI had to terminate Steele as an informant for leaking information about its investigation to the media.

The referred matter allegedly involved the execution of a contract between DARPA and the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Forbes: Assessing The Quantum Threat By The Numbers-Finally
Assessing The Quantum Threat By
              The Numbers-Finally
The threat of a quantum computer attack on the financial sector dwarfs all other distractions facing the Federal Reserve, from inflation to vulnerable mid-size banks. A Quantum Alliance Initiative study reveals a cascading quantum attack on major banks, the Federal Reserve, or stock exchanges could be worse than the Great Depression. The attack could impair roughly 60% of total assets in the banking system and cost between $730 billion to $1.95 trillion, potentially leading to a decline in annual real GDP ranging from 10 to 17 percent. The financial sector must adopt and migrate to the National Institute of Standards and Technology post-quantum cryptography standards for Fedwire protection, including replacing legacy encryption systems, devise an action plan for quantum-reading, set a deadline for all Federal Reserve banks to be quantum secure, and create a quantum security task-force.

The Epoch Times: Target Predicts Over $1 Billion in Losses From Theft, Forecasts Gloomy 2nd Quarter as Consumers Pull Back
Target Predicts Over $1 Billion in Losses From Theft, Forecasts Gloomy 2nd Quarter as Consumers Pull Back
Target predicts a gloomy Q2 forecast due to consumers pulling back from non-essential purchases, mainly electronics and home goods, because of inflation. Although retail sales edged slightly upward in April despite higher prices, cost-conscious consumers have been selective with their spending, which has indirectly hit large store chains like Target and Home Depot. Additionally, Target is dealing with rising costs, including theft, a major factor, and a dip in overall consumer spending caused by a change in consumer habits. The Minneapolis-based company maintained its full-year profit expectations as total sales rose 0.5 percent.

Target's new clothing line for Gay Pride Month in June has provoked outrage on social media, with many calling for a boycott. The ad features T-shirts with slogans like "trans people will always exist" and baby clothes with "bien proud" in the colors of the gay pride flag. Gays Against Groomers, an organization of "gays against the sexualization, indoctrination and medicalization of children", commented, "They are indoctrinating and grooming (children) with LGBTQ ideology. It is highly inappropriate and disturbing." Target, however, is continuing to make investments in stores and online to offset competition.

Forbes: America Needs Mental Health Professionals. Use The Defense Production Act To Get Them
America Needs Mental Health Professionals. Use The Defense Production Act To Get Them
The US Navy is promoting the idea of using chaplains as untrained counselors aboard combatants due to a lack of mental health resources. However, to address the mental health crisis among US military personnel, authorities can use the Defense Production Act in a creative way to speed up the development of trained mental health professionals. Such a move would help alleviate a critical shortage of mental health professionals nationally, with some 163 million US citizens living in areas without a sufficient number of mental health practitioners. The military itself needs better access to mental health professionals to address issues such as increasing suicide rates, sexual assault and difficulties in transforming high-schoolers into adults.

The military requires a therapeutic cadre to address its ongoing mental health challenges and the Defense Production Act can be employed creatively to speed up the development of mental health professionals. There is a shortage of licensed professional counselors nationally, with multiple reasons for this, including a burdensome post-credentialing process, a soul-sapping job, and low salaries. The military can use its Defense Production Act-like framework to streamline the educational pipeline and reduce the burden of low-paid servitude facing early-career therapists. By starting new counselors on a light therapeutic load at deployed duty stations, the military can help new entrants find their feet in their profession more easily, improving retention rates and contributing to the military's mental health at a higher level. Ultimately, the military's mental health crisis requires speedy action to create demand and help new therapists find their feet in their profession, providing a useful reserve component to alleviate the ongoing national mental health emergency.
