NYC at 'breaking point,' deputy mayor says 'absolutely no more room'
New York City is struggling with the influx of illegal immigrants seeking asylum after Title 42's expiration. Over 67,000 migrants arrived in the last year, with 600-700 new arrivals per day. The city is housing migrants in emergency sites and crisis centers, including a historic hotel that will now serve as a 24-hour migrant center. The reasoning behind resorting to housing migrants in public spaces is to ensure that nobody sleeps on the street in New York City. There is no more room left in the city for migrants, and the Deputy Mayor is calling for support from other New York counties and aid at a federal level.

How North Carolina’s New Abortion Rules Stack Up With Europe
: North Carolina recently passed a bill to ban most abortions after 12 weeks, which caused backlash from Democrats and the mainstream media. However, many European countries are far more restrictive with their abortion laws, with most of them cutting off elective abortion at 10-12 weeks and requiring one or two doctors to agree that it's necessary after that period. The United States is one of only seven countries in the world that permit nontherapeutic or elective abortion-on-demand after the 20th week of gestation, with the others being China, North Korea, Vietnam, Canada, Singapore, and the Netherlands.

National Review: The Corner: The Democrats’ Growing Cognitive Problem
The Corner: The Democrats’ Growing Cognitive Problem
The Democratic Party's leading figures are displaying symptoms of cognitive decline, from indecipherable rhetorical miscues to discernible cognitive degeneration. However, the center-left politico-entertainment complex refuses to make the most of this material, underscoring their terror of the conclusions their audience might draw if they treated the Democrats the way they do Republicans. This double standard is exemplified by the treatment of former footballer Herschel Walker, who was subjected to relentless mockery for his malapropisms and sordid past, whereas Democratic leaders with similar issues are given a pass. This raises legitimate concerns about the capacity of our representatives to perform their elective roles.

PJ Media: How the FBI Helped the Clinton Campaign Get Away With One of the Dirties Political Tricks in U.S. History
How the FBI Helped the Clinton Campaign Get Away With One of the Dirties Political Tricks in U.S. History
The unclassified report by Special Counsel John H. Durham confirms that the FBI had no basis to open an investigation into Trump-Russia collusion, and misbehaved in the Crossfire Hurricane operation. The FBI disregarded protocols and treated claims made against the Clinton campaign more favorably than claims made against the Trump campaign due to a confirmation bias towards Trump. The FBI overlooked exculpatory evidence, ignored counterintelligence issues, and withheld information from FISA applications. The agency ruined innocent individuals' lives, caused a multimillion-dollar investigation, and crippled the Trump administration.

Durham engaged in a broad investigation and exposed the FBI's extensive mishandling of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation. The FBI's reputation as a law enforcement agency is severely damaged, and it has faced whistleblowers' claims of bias and unprofessionalism. The Clinton campaign, with the FBI's blundering, got away with one of the dirtiest political tricks in the country's history. Durham recommends disciplinary action against government personnel involved in the mishandling of Crossfire Hurricane, and Congress needs to undertake investigations and reforms to ensure this abuse never happens again.

Minnesota's Democrat lawmakers passed sweeping gun control laws including a 'red flag law' and expanded background checks. The state's Governor, Tim Walz, praised the passage of the gun control and indicated he will sign both measures into law. However, critics argue that the gun control measures being implemented in California and Illinois, which also have red flag laws, have not prevented mass shootings.

Fox News: Thai police arrest 2nd teenager for defaming monarchy amid renewed debate over rigorous law
Thai police arrest 2nd teenager for defaming monarchy amid renewed debate over rigorous law
Thai authorities charged a 16-year-old girl with violating the lese majeste law and the Computer Crime Act for messages she allegedly posted on Facebook two years ago, making her the youngest person in Thailand to face the charge. The lese majeste law, which has been seen as controversial because anyone, not just the royal family, can file a complaint with police, makes insulting the monarch punishable by three to 15 years in prison. At least 244 people have been charged with lese majeste in 264 cases since November 2020, when Prayuth’s government was facing street protests by student-led groups seeking greater democracy, including reforms of the monarchy.

The subject of Thailand's lese majeste law became an issue in Sunday's general election, and opposition parties have acknowledged the need to consider changes to the law. Conservative-leaning parties, which have ruled Thailand since a 2014 coup, are in favor of maintaining it. Devotion to the monarchy has long been a pillar of Thai society, and until recent years, the institution was considered untouchable. However, sharp political schisms that began appearing two decades ago affected its reputation, particularly among young people seeking change. This has led to an increasing number of student-led groups seeking greater democracy, including reforms of the monarchy.

Footage from an air raid shows Israelis’ mental health
Israeli schoolchildren huddled together in a bus shelter during a missile alert rather than running for cover. This response was attributed to early non-sexualised affection in Israeli culture. Research suggested children who have empathetic awareness of others will almost certainly grow up to be adults who commit altruistic acts. The quality of early experiences is a deciding factor in individuals' and societies' success. The influence of our earliest relationships with parents can make evaluating life much more complicated.

Police Appear to Contradict Meghan and Harry's 'Near Catastrophic' Car Chase Claims
Meghan and Harry's claim of a "near catastrophic" car chase through New York City by paparazzi has been called into question by police reports. The couple's spokesman had claimed that the chase took place following a gala at which Meghan received an award, but an NYPD spokesman has stated that there were no injuries, arrests or collisions reported. While acknowledging that there was a "bit of a chaotic scene", police officials cast doubt on the severity of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's claims. Commentators have subsequently questioned their credibility.

American Thinker: Gavin Newsom’s latest initiative could be misused to curb free speech
Gavin Newsom’s latest initiative could be misused to curb free speech
California Governor Gavin Newsom has launched a new hotline service allowing victims and witnesses of hate incidents and crimes to report their experiences. Called the “CA vs. Hate” initiative, the hotline’s genesis was a 2021 Democrat-sponsored bill mandating that the state create an online reporting system for “victims and witnesses to report a hate incident against any group in a safe, anonymous manner, particularly those who may face language or cultural barriers or are undocumented.” The hotline’s primary goals are finding “help” for people and communities and gathering data about hate incidents and crime.

While the California vs. Hate website states that the police do not run the initiative and that the site will not share complaints with law enforcement unless the complainant consents, the vagueness of the definitions of “bias” and “hate” included gives rise to concerns that the hotline will be abused to target political opponents and suppress free speech. The hotline will also offer free hotline services to illegal immigrants, placing additional burden on California taxpayers while raising questions about the hotline’s ability to police individuals who may be motivated by narratives or disinformation propagated on social media.

Chinese Communists Panic over Growing Popularity of 'Western' Stand-Up Comedy
Chinese authorities have launched a criminal investigation against a comedian for a joke mocking a People’s Liberation Army (PLA) slogan during a stand-up set. The Chinese Communist Party has appeared to be uneasy about the growing popularity of stand-up comedy, insisting that it “should abide by Chinese law and social norms” if it hopes to continue to exist under communism. Xiaoguo Culture Media, the production company that put on the show featuring the comedian, has been fined upwards of $2m on charges of “harming society”. Investigations into all of the company’s employees are ongoing. The Chinese government also banned Xiaoguo Culture Media from staging shows in Beijing.

Russia agrees to extend Ukraine grain deal to boost global food security
Russia has agreed to extend the Black Sea Grain Initiative for another two months, allowing Ukraine to continue shipping grain across the Black Sea in an attempt to ease world hunger amidst rising food prices. Turkey and the UN brokered the accord last summer and continued efforts to ensure the agreement is fulfilled will be made. The Epoch Times: The Washington Declaration: Implications for Taiwan and East Asia
The Washington Declaration: Implications for Taiwan and East Asia
The Washington Declaration is aimed at countering the nuclear threat from North Korea by strengthening deterrence measures. The South Korean government is considering supplying arms to Ukraine citing humanitarian reasons, reversing its policy of neutrality in the conflict. These agreements reinforce alliances, send deterrence messages to North Korea and China, and could benefit Taiwan if a military operation is conducted against it by the Chinese Communist Party. The United States will now have a port facility to use in South Korea for nuclear submarines, which can remind North Korea and China of its deterrence posture and release some internal pressure on South Korea to develop its own nuclear weapons. Future agreements predicted based on the Washington Declaration and other agreements in the region include expanded bilateral security agreements, the Quad, and AUKUS.

Fox News: Blinken backs down, will let Congress see Afghan dissent cable that warned of swift Taliban takeover
Blinken backs down, will let Congress see Afghan dissent cable that warned of swift Taliban takeover
The US State Department will allow lawmakers to view the "dissent channel cable" that warned of a rapid Taliban advance as the US left Afghanistan. The announcement came days before the House Foreign Affairs Committee was set to vote on whether to hold Secretary of State Antony Blinken in contempt for refusing lawmakers access. Republicans are investigating the chaotic US withdrawal that led to the death of 13 US service members and stranded hundreds of Americans. The dissent cable warned of an immediate collapse in Afghanistan and urged the officials to commence an airlift operation immediately for Afghans who helped the US.

The State Department has allowed the top two lawmakers on the Foreign Affairs Committee to view the dissent cable on Afghanistan expressing contrary views to officials. The notice called for tougher language to describe atrocities committed by the Taliban and predicted with "eerie foresight" what would happen only a month later after the Taliban made rapid territorial gains. The death of 13 US service members and 170 Afghan citizens occurred during the chaotic US withdrawal run by the State Department. House Foreign Affairs Chairman McCaul threatened a contempt vote against Blinken if access was not granted.

Work-From-Home is Unfair to Employees Who Can’t Afford It: Elon Musk

He argues that if some employees are required to work in person, it is only fair that all employees should be treated equally. The productivity debate surrounding remote work remains ongoing, with research showing both positive and negative effects on productivity.

The exact timeline for the name change is yet to be provided.

The Epoch Times: Why Vaccines for Common Respiratory Illnesses Give Dubious Protection
Why Vaccines for Common Respiratory Illnesses Give Dubious Protection
The efficacy of respiratory viral vaccines such as influenza and COVID-19 has been disappointing, with some vaccines only being 14 to 60 percent effective over the last 15 flu seasons. COVID-19 vaccine efficacy against viral infection and transmission is also unknown, and several studies have shown that during Omicron, vaccine effectiveness fell below 20 percent within six months of a person receiving the last dose. There are three possible causes for this poor efficacy, including the inability of vaccines to keep up with seasonal viruses that change rapidly, injected vaccines only immunizing the body and not the nose, and the body being primed to deal with infections, not vaccines. The current focus of vaccines is on preventing severe illness instead of preventing diseases and reducing the risk of infection.
