The Blaze: California may give illegal immigrants unemployment benefits despite growing budget deficit
California may give illegal immigrants unemployment benefits despite growing budget deficit
California is considering providing unemployment benefits to illegal immigrants, with a new senate bill, SB 227, proposing that they receive $300 per week for up to 20 weeks. The Los Angeles Board of Supervisors has previously given its support to the bill, which was introduced by Democratic State Senator María Elena Durazo. The Safety Net for All Coalition has argued that undocumented workers in California contribute $485m per year to the state's Unemployment Insurance system, and have claimed that the unemployment programme would cost $356m in state funds. The Senate Appropriations Committee is due to review the legislation on Thursday.

6,400 Illegal Migrants Released Without Court Dates Before Biden Admin Parole Policy Blocked
Over 6,000 illegal immigrants were released without registration numbers or court dates under Biden's parole policy. A Florida judge blocked the program last week, but the releases took place prior to the temporary restraining order. The parole program requires appointments to appear at an ICE facility within 60 days instead of court orders.

Soros-Backed U.S. Attorney Resigning After DOJ IG Accuses Her Of Election Interference, Lying To Feds: Reports
US Attorney Rachael Rollins resigns after investigations found she illegally leaked sensitive, non-public information about a political candidate to the press and lied about it to federal investigators. Rollins favored Ricardo Arroyo over Kevin Hayden in the primary race for Suffolk district attorney, violating the Hatch Act. Federal investigators found Rollins' conduct constituted an "extraordinary abuse of her authority" and referred her alleged false statements to the DOJ for criminal prosecution, though the DOJ declined to prosecute. Senator Tom Cotton criticized Democrats for not listening to warnings about Rollins' unsuitability for the role.

Elon Musk: Anti-Defamation League Should 'Drop the A' in 'ADL'
Elon Musk criticized George Soros for funding radical prosecutors and urged the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) to "drop the A" from its name after it accused him of anti-Semitism. Musk's comments triggered a range of responses, from left-wing critics who accused him of promoting anti-Semitism, to pro-Israel Jewish commentators who defended him. The ADL has moved left in recent years, calling for more censorship on social media platforms, and pushing for Facebook to block ads from groups it considers hateful.

The Epoch Times: Q&A With Attorney Bruce Castor on Durham Report: 'We Can’t Trust the Federal Government'
Q&A With Attorney Bruce Castor on Durham Report: 'We Can’t Trust the Federal Government'
Lawyer Bruce L. Castor Jr. believes that the American federal government is heavily involved in deceptions aimed at serving its own interests, leading many Americans to lose faith in its ability to provide equal justice and fairness. Castor calls for a special prosecutor to investigate the FBI and make recommendations on overhauling the agency to avoid future abuses of power. He also believes Hillary Clinton's alleged criminal conduct warrants a grand jury investigation, with direct testimony to determine whether criminal charges should be brought against her, and that the lack of trust in government reflects a "priority imbalance" where political considerations take priority over doing what is right for all Americans.

The Corner: Mike Pence Should Be Honest about His Prospects
Mike Pence is visiting New Hampshire and forming a Super PAC, which suggests that he will enter the 2024 Republican presidential race. However, given his association with Donald Trump, who a significant number of Republicans do not forgive him for not supporting on January 6th, Pence may not have a winning chance. Furthermore, Pence's messaging on Twitter seems to focus on conservative policies, such as deregulation, but this is not where the energy of the party is. As a result, Pence may end up relitigating January 6th, which could lead to his loss.

'We are investing in y’all as activists': Planned Parenthood supporters plan to bring armed security to protest a special legislative session — on gun control
Tennessee Advocates for Planned Parenthood (TAPP) have contacted an armed security group to provide "protest safety" when they demonstrate outside a state House special session on gun control. Leaked audio suggests TAPP intends to bring arms to a protest on gun control. The organization is opposed to Republican Governor Bill Lee's plan to introduce a gun control bill during the session. TAPP will implement similar tactics for their activism in their local communities, which its website says is to "protect and advocate for the Planned Parenthood facilities in Tennessee and northern Mississippi and their legislative and community agendas". Protests at the Tennessee state House have made several news headlines this year.

Wyoming Lawmakers Demand BLM Hear From Constituents
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is proposing a new public lands rule for "conservation leasing" which threatens ranchers' access to public lands. Wyoming lawmakers are requesting that the BLM leadership recalibrate their public meeting schedule to consult with those who will be impacted by the proposed rule. The framework outlined in the proposed rule would strip access to public lands locked off from multiple uses and lock up public land without hearing from those barred from critical grazing grounds.

National Review: GOP Lawmaker Introduces Bill to Curb Labor-Relations Board’s Authority over Small Businesses
GOP Lawmaker Introduces Bill to Curb Labor-Relations Board’s Authority over Small Businesses
Representative Bob Good reintroduced the Small Businesses Before Bureaucrats Act, which would update the jurisdictional standards for the National Labor Relations Board to $5 million for retail business and $500,000 for non-retail businesses. Good argues that the current standards are low and outdated, empowering unelected bureaucrats to regulate businesses unnecessarily. The move would free a significant number of businesses from NLRB oversight, and going forward, the thresholds would grow with the economy. Good first introduced the legislation in May 2022 and received support from various groups. The NLRB, an independent agency, has faced Republican criticism for serving pro-union interests under the Biden administration.

Transgenderism's Erasure of Women Part 2: The Sorority House
Members of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at the University of Wyoming have filed a lawsuit, requesting a judge to declare transgender member Artemis Langford’s membership null and void, as well as to award damages in accordance with the lawsuit. The lawsuit claims that Langford’s membership in the sorority has made the environment uncomfortable and has even caused fear among the biological females. The transgender woman in question, who is 6'2" and 260 pounds, has been granted permission to live in the house in September, despite not currently residing there. Several allegations have been made, including Langford "observing" members for hours without speaking, and putting a pillow in his lap to conceal physical arousal.

Seven members of the sorority also claimed that Langford had sexually preyed on them, leading to increased calls for action to be taken. The sisters have accused senior sorority members and chapter managers of forcing them to vote Langford into the group, even leading to members being called "bigots" and "transphobes" for refusing to shower or sleep in the same area as Langford. This incident follows growing criticism of transgender women competing in sports with biological women.

The Epoch Times: Chinese Spies Highly Active in EU's Heartland: Report
Chinese Spies Highly Active in EU's Heartland: Report
Chinese spies are reportedly highly active in Belgium, engaging in a range of activities, including lobbying and political influence. Belgian politicians are concerned about the close association between the Communist regime and corporate interests in the country, which makes identifying potential assets challenging. Due to this, many CCP intelligence agents are Chinese private individuals who serve the government through persuasion and manipulation from state authorities. Kristof Slagmulder, a politician from Belgium's Dutch-speaking Flanders region, called for an investigation into the potential role that Chinese students in Belgium could play in CCP espionage efforts. Belgium is not currently on the list of European countries that have Chinese police stations in operation. The Chinese regime denied running undeclared police stations abroad after a report by Safeguard Defenders stated that agents of the Chinese regime are operating covertly in countries around the world using secret police stations as a base of operations. The report has spurred investigations in at least 14 countries to date. Ireland and the Netherlands have closed the Chinese police stations that were discovered in their countries, and inquiries are being conducted in Spain. In April, two men were arrested in New York for allegedly operating a secret police station in Manhattan on behalf of China’s communist regime.

Target Set to Lose an Estimated $500M, Largely Due to Retail Crime
Target is projected to lose $500 million in profits this year due to organized retail theft, which is a primary factor in retail shrink rates. Organized crime networks steal items in bulk to sell at cheaper prices on online platforms such as Amazon, and retailers attribute 37% of shrinkage to external theft. Additionally, self-checkouts and a lack of employees in stores have been linked to lost profits.

Ex-First Republic CEO Blames Failure on Collapse of Other Regional Banks, Says Regulators Did Not Raise Warnings
Former First Republic CEO Michael Roffler testified before House lawmakers, blaming the bank’s failure on events beyond their control, including the unexpected collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank. He assured lawmakers that prior to the chaos in March and regulators seizing the bank in May, First Republic was in a solid financial position, with no concerns raised about their strategy, liquidity or management performance. Roffler also blamed media and technological advancements for exacerbating the situation, resulting in over $100 billion in withdrawals from the bank.

Roffler, along with former Silicon Valley Bank CEO Greg Becker and former Signature Bank Chairman Scott Shay, testified before Senate Banking Committee, each largely avoiding taking responsibility for their bank’s failure and blaming the events they said were out of their control. Prior to the collapse of the two banks, First Republic was infused with $30 billion by 11 large US banks. Nevertheless, they were seized by JPMorgan Chase at the behest of FDIC on May 1. The bank ultimately could not recover investor and depositor confidence.

Too Little, Too Late: Bud Light to Introduce Camo Can
Anheuser-Busch, struggling with declining sales and stock value, plans to launch a line of camouflage aluminum bottles to promote the "Folds of Honor" program. The company has faced backlash since it fired two guides who led Bud Light into a disastrous situation. The camouflage cans are part of a bigger effort to counter the decline, including discounted beer and marketing toward country music, military, first responders, and farmers. The question is whether those who were abandoned for the politically correct Audrey Hepburn impersonator, who criticized Bud Light as "fratty," will return.

Johnny Depp Torches News Media: 'Majority of What You Read Is Fantastically, Horrifically Written Fiction'
Johnny Depp criticized the news media for their coverage of his personal life, calling it "fantastically, horrifically written fiction." He emphasized that the focus should be on his film work and not his personal life. Last year, he won a libel lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard, whom he accused of lying in an op-ed that accused him of abuse. Despite losing his role in the Fantastic Beasts movies due to the allegations, he said he doesn't think about Hollywood that much anymore.

Federal watchdogs have found that Massachusetts US attorney Rachael Rollins, who was nominated by President Joe Biden, leaked sensitive Department of Justice information to influence a local DA race and lied about it under oath. Rollins, who had announced that she would resign after the reports on her conduct were released, actively supported a candidate and repeatedly made attempts to disclose that the DOJ might investigate his opponent in the Suffolk County District Attorney election. The reports also found that Rollins violated other rules such as accepting non-federal payment of travel expenses on two separate occasions and using her personal cellphone for department business.

U.S. Supreme Court Turns Down Emergency Appeal To Block Illinois Gun Control Law
The U.S. Supreme Court rejected an emergency appeal by the National Association for Gun Rights and a firearms retailer to block Illinois' new gun control law. The law, signed in January, bans dozens of rapid-fire rifles and pistols, .50-caliber guns, and some attachments, and requires registration of firearms by Illinoisans who already own them. The legislation was enacted after a mass shooting in Highland Park, IL, in July 2020. Firearms listed under the new law must be registered by 2024, while unregistered guns could lead to charges. Arguments on the case are set to be heard in June 2021.

Fox News Responds to Rumors of 'Ambitious' New Schedule After Tucker Carlson Exit
Fox News denies rumors of Sean Hannity taking over the 8 p.m. ET timeslot after Tucker Carlson's departure, stating that multiple scenarios are under consideration for a new primetime lineup. The network's ratings have suffered after Carlson's exit, which caused a dip in ratings for the 8 p.m. hour and affected other primetime shows like Hannity's and Laura Ingraham's. In comparison, Newsmax has drawn more viewers since Carlson's exit from Fox News late last month. CNN's primetime ratings have also crashed back to normal after a single-day boost caused by the network's decision to host a town hall event with former President Donald Trump.
