Biden's Neglect of Southern Border is Another Public Health Crisis Waiting to Happen
The lifting of Title 42 protections and lack of border security under the Biden Administration may lead to another healthcare crisis and the flow of drugs, diseases, and potential viruses into American communities. Townhall: U.S. Debt Default Would Send Shockwaves Throughout the Housing Market
U.S. Debt Default Would Send Shockwaves Throughout the Housing Market
The US government is still unable to agree on raising the debt ceiling, risking default. A new Zillow report has warned of the potential impact on the US housing market, with mortgage rates rising to 8.4%, buying costs increasing by 22%, and both property sales and values expected to drop by 23% and 5% respectively. If US Treasury bond rates rise, mortgage rates are almost certain to follow, which could cause a deep freeze in the housing market. The report states current homeowners and prospective buyers alike could be negatively impacted.

A rising interest rate and worsening economic conditions could lead to declining demand in the housing market, causing rising home values to fall. Zillow warns that this will be a dire consequence for both homeowners and those looking to purchase. Everyone stands to lose significant sums of money, with potentially catastrophic outcomes for the nation. Therefore, political parties must put their differences aside and find a solution to this crisis that will raise the debt ceiling and put the nation on a path of fiscal responsibility.

Front Page Magazine: Are Congressional Democrats ‘Abandoning Israel’?
Are Congressional Democrats ‘Abandoning Israel’?
Representative Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) has pledged to "kill" any resolution in the House attempting to place conditions on aid to Israel, maintaining that support for Israel is ironclad and critical to America's national security. Although some worry about a loss of Democratic support for Israel, only 18 Representatives and one Republican voted against a resolution reaffirming support for military aid, without conditions, to Israel. Gottheimer is a liberal Democrat and one of many who are unswerving in their support for Israel, giving the lie to those who claim that Israeli can no longer count on the support of liberal Democrats.

Leftist Media Rewards Leftist Ex-CIA Hack Who Lied About Hunter’s Laptop
Former CIA acting director Michael Morell, who claimed Hunter Biden's laptop was Russian disinformation during the 2020 presidential election, has been named as one of Washington D.C.'s most influential people of 2023. Morell has been hailed by Washingtonian for his ardent cheerleading for the US bankrolling of the war in Ukraine. Despite being a liar and a partisan hack, Morell is being laden with honors by his friends and allies among the political and cultural Left.

Being part of the Leftist establishment in Washington is one of the most plum positions in the entire world. No matter how much of a dishonest little weasel like Morell you may be, you get lionized as "courageous" and "visionary" by the Left's propaganda arm known as the mainstream media.

The Epoch Times: US Lawmakers Urge to Sanction 29 Hong Kong Judges to Uphold Democratic Freedoms
US Lawmakers Urge to Sanction 29 Hong Kong Judges to Uphold Democratic Freedoms
A U.S. congressional report recommends the United States to impose sanctions on 29 Hong Kong judges appointed to preside over national security cases due to their role in the arbitrary imprisonment of over 1,000 political prisoners. The report said the National Security Law imposed on Hong Kong by the Chinese Communist Party in 2020 had created a parallel legal system that weakens judicial independence and strips criminal defendants of basic due process protections, citing the judges as an integral part of the parallel legal regime in Hong Kong. The NSL, which punishes what the CCP broadly defines as secession, subversion, terrorism, and collusion with foreign forces with up to life in jail, has been condemned by democratic governments around the world and human rights groups as a tool to crush dissent in the semi-autonomous city.

Foreign Policy: How Russia Expands Its Influence in Africa
How Russia Expands Its Influence in Africa
Russia's Wagner Group is expanding its presence in Africa, with some Western officials regarding the paramilitary company as a proxy force for Russian influence. Wagner is believed to be operating in at least eight African countries, where it largely provides combat services and regime protection to besieged governments, wiping out insurgents without any democratic accountability. In the Sahel region, Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren has expressed concerns that "the Russians are taking over there". Wagner head Yevgeny Prigozhin has been accused by the US State Department of using Russian disinformation to promote anti-Western messages.

Woman Fired for Refusing COVID Shots Challenges Denial of Unemployment Benefits in Federal Court
Rebecca Abdo, a former medical laboratory technologist for Canadian Blood Services, has filed an application in Federal Court for judicial review after being denied unemployment benefits due to being fired for not receiving a COVID-19 vaccine. Abdo, a devout Christian, applied for a religious exemption from the mandatory vaccine policy but was denied and then fired. The government claimed that Abdo was fired for her own “misconduct” and denied her employment insurance claim. Abdo’s legal position is that this decision was an error in law and fact and should be overturned by the court.

The Epoch Times: A Pennsylvania Steam Locomotive from the Industrial Revolution Era Gets a New Lease on Life
A Pennsylvania Steam Locomotive from the Industrial Revolution Era Gets a New Lease on Life
The East Broad Top Railroad has returned to service after 67 years in mothballs. The Pennsylvania-based line, which no longer delivers iron, coal, and limestone as it did from the 1870s until changing economic conditions forced the line’s closure in 1956, is now aiming to entertain visitors, educate them about the heyday of steam, and provide sustainable jump-start to Central Pennsylvania’s economy. The foundation hopes to restore all 33 miles as the public’s interest in “heritage railroading” grows.

Founded during America’s Industrial Revolution, the original East Broad Top’s purpose was to act as a “conveyor belt” to transport raw materials. After an 82-year run, East Broad Top eventually shut down but was twice reborn by residents of Orbisonia. The foundation, its current owner, reintroduced public rides in 2021 and 2022, temporarily using diesel. But with Number 16 repaired and running, the line made a switch back to steam this year and is now fully committed to providing visitors with an all-steam experience. Seating options include Enclosed Coach, Open Air, and Caboose, and guests also have the option of purchasing tickets for a stop at the Rockhill Trolley Museum.

The Epoch Times: 911: The Story of How A Small Alabama Town Became the First in the Country to Adopt the Emergency Hotline
911: The Story of How A Small Alabama Town Became the First in the Country to Adopt the Emergency Hotline
Haleyville, Alabama, with its population of 4,100, is where the "most go to" number in the US, 911, originally began. In 1968, seven years after countries such as the UK, Canada and Mexico had already introduced a three-digit emergency line, AT&T stated that they would use 911 as the emergency code throughout North America. But it was after President Lyndon Johnson's Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice recommended a "single number should be established" for the US in 1967 that things really heated up. Bob Gallagher, the president of Alabama Telephone, proposed the 911 system to his boss, knowing that they would have to act fast to beat AT&T to it. The company installed the new system in just 35 days and on February 16, 1968, the first ceremonial call was made from Haleyville, Alabama.

Townhall: AI Paradigm Shift: Policymakers and Technologists Must Collaborate for a Safe Future
AI Paradigm Shift: Policymakers and Technologists Must Collaborate for a Safe Future
AI advancements are raising concerns across industries over potential negative impacts on society. Voluntary restraint on AI development is unlikely, so governments must step in to regulate AI technology, which requires more collaboration between technologists and policymakers. Policymakers lack the understanding and knowledge of AI technology needed to establish regulations that benefit society and foster industry growth. Fostering innovation and healthy competition in the AI industry, while motivating companies to invest in their own in-house AI safety and ethics expertise, would likely involve the hiring of interdisciplinary scholars who could help temper unsafe AI applications, while policymaker collaboration with AI firms could help develop appropriate policies that demonstrate a deep understanding of the technologies being regulated.
