Fox News: Judiciary Republicans investigating DHS funding to NGOs providing free services for illegal immigrants
House Judiciary Committee Republicans are investigating the Department of Homeland Security's funding of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that offer free services, including food and transport, to illegal immigrants at the southern border. The lawmakers are concerned that taxpayer dollars are being wasted and misused. The investigation builds on GOP concerns that the DHS to NGO pipeline is used to funnel taxpayer money into services, including transportation, for those coming into the U.S. illegally.
DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was written to seeking information, communications, and documents related to federal funding awards to NGOs for food, lodging, and transportation of migrants since Jan 2021. DHS stated that more funding will be allocated to NGOs to assist communities receiving noncitizens released from custody as they await the outcome of their immigration proceedings. DHS previously received criticism for funding to NGOs including an allocation of $332m via the Emergency Food and Shelter Program.

Breitbart: Entertainment Lawyer Kevin Morris Emerges as Major Figure in Hunter Biden Investigation
Kevin Morris, a Los Angeles entertainment lawyer with tentacles in nearly every aspect of Hunter Biden’s professional life, has emerged as a key figure in the Hunter Biden investigation. As the husband of one of the most powerful women in the entertainment industry, he has represented A-list celebrities and is at the center of Hunter Biden’s new-found career of painting modern art, an occupation connected to the art market known for corruption. Morris helped Hunter forge a framework to sell art to anonymous buyers through a dealer with ties to the Chinese art market, and controls Skaneateles LLC with a ten percent stake in BHR Partners, a Chinese state-backed investment fund founded just days after Hunter and President Joe Biden visited China in 2013.
Hunter Biden retained Morris to oversee his public relations and media strategies in 2022. In turn, Morris paid Hunter’s over two-million-dollar IRS tax delinquency and bankrolled his $30,000-a-month apartment in Malibu, California. Morris also heads Hunter Biden’s high-powered defense against potential tax fraud and gun violation charges and nine potential violations involving congressional probes, as well as representing him in the battle against child support payments.
Fox News: Nebraska lawmakers set to debate plan to tack on 12-week abortion ban to bill banning youth sex changes
Nebraska lawmakers may merge two contentious bills on transgender youth and abortion. Opponents of the move plan to filibuster the debate in order to prevent the bills from both being passed. Conservatives see the 12-week abortion ban as a compromise to the previous failed abortion bill, while opponents see it as an attempt to revive a previously shelved measure.
American Thinker: It sure looks like Michelle Obama is being pressured to run for president, forcing Biden out of the 2024 race
Democrats are considering options for the 2024 presidential election due to Joe Biden's declining mental faculties. Douglas Schoen and Andrew Stein are pushing to have Michelle Obama run if she hasn't already been convinced by her husband. Trump's recent performance on CNN has led some Democrats to realize that he could be re-elected in 2024, and Biden's potential successor, Vice President Kamala Harris, is even less popular than he is. A Zogby Analytics poll found that Michelle Obama is the favorite for Democratic primary voters, and with her broad network of supporters and the ability to resurrect Barack Obama's political organization, she would be the strongest candidate by far.
Fox News: AOC warns Biden not to negotiate with GOP on budget: 'Expect pushback' on any major concessions
Members of "The Squad" warn President Biden that he will lose progressive voters in upcoming elections if he negotiates with Republicans on the debt ceiling. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy blames Biden for the lack of progress in negotiations, and far-left Democrats want the president to stand firm on their priorities, including clean energy and welfare work requirements. Some progressives hope that Biden can use the 14th Amendment to force a clean debt ceiling increase without spending cuts. However, some experts are skeptical about using the amendment for this purpose.
Red State: Sad Scene at MSNBC as Hosts and Analysts Have Struggle Session Over Durham Report
John Durham found no evidence to support the Trump-Russia investigation and uncovered numerous cases of abuse by government officials who continued to pursue the investigation despite the lack of evidence. The FBI admitted to the abuses but claimed to have fixed them internally. Andrew Weissmann and Nicole Wallace from MSNBC refused to accept Durham’s findings, with Weissmann suggesting that Durham was not acting in good faith and Wallace calling it a “rabbit hole conspiracy.” The biggest issue is that there was no probable cause to investigate Trump for Russian collusion, making it a gross abuse of power to influence an election.
The Epoch Times: DeSantis Blasts 'Weaponized' Federal Agencies for 'Egregious Abuse of Power' in Trump–Russia Probe
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis demands accountability from federal agencies accused of manufacturing false conspiracy theories about Trump-Russia collusion, according to special counsel John Durham's report. Durham's report concluded that the FBI should not have launched an investigation into alleged collusion between Trump's campaign and Russia, as well as finding anti-Trump bias among FBI agents. The report faulted the FBI for various flaws in pursuing surveillance of the Trump campaign, relying too much on unvetted investigative tips from Trump's political opponents and having a different standard in investigating allegations of election interference by then-candidate Hillary Clinton's campaign.
The Epoch Times: Dershowitz: Durham Report Shows ‘Americans Are Right’ to Distrust Government
Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz has criticized the Department of Justice's handling of the 2016 election and it's investigation into allegations of collusion between former President Trump and Russia. Dershowitz criticized the government for "distorting the Constitution” and relying on “unanalyzed and uncorroborated” intelligence. He added that the Trump derangement syndrome had caused the intelligence community to focus on getting Trump rather than the truth, branding their bias “extraordinarily dangerous”. Republican senators have called for hearings into the Durham report, and Dershowitz also believes those involved in the investigation should face consequences.
Newsbusters: Study: Taxpayer-Subsidized PBS Whacks GOP with 85% Negative News
A Media Research Center study found that PBS NewsHour's coverage of the first four months of the 118th Congress was heavily biased against Republicans. NewsHour promoted controversies involving Republicans five times more frequently than those involving Democrats. Meanwhile, discussions of policy issues, such as the debt ceiling, gun rights, and immigration, were heavily skewed against Republicans. Republicans were often branded as extremists by NewsHour correspondents or commentators, while left-wing Democrats were never labeled as such. Congressional Republicans faced 85% negative coverage compared to 54% positive coverage for Democrats.
Red State: Former AOC Aide Becomes Leader in New York Communist Party
Former aide to Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Justine Medina, has been appointed “Co-chair of the New York Communist League” by the Communist Party. Medina, who was responsible for anti-war veteran and peace movement policy language in her previous role, is identified as a member of the Executive Committee of the New York State Communist Party. This has added to claims that Ocasio-Cortez, who has previously supported ending the economic embargo on Cuba, has more extreme views than her “democratic socialism” would suggest.
Ocasio-Cortez has previously defended herself from claims of communism-level sympathies, citing a history of such accusations being made against civil rights campaigners and individuals who support democracy and equal rights. She has also recently condemned the Cuban regime’s suppression of civil liberties and human rights, while attacking the US embargo on Cuba as a policy that needlessly targets the country’s people, and justifies cruelty as a point of leverage.

Fox News: South Korean adoption agency ordered to compensate adoptee for mishandling his adoption to the US
South Korean court orders adoption agency to pay $74,700 damages to Adam Crapser for mishandling his adoption to the United States. Crapser claimed he was abused by two sets of US parents and fraudulently adopted after South Korea carelessly removed thousands of children from their families. However, the court dismissed Crapser's accusations against the South Korean government, which he blames for creating a profit-driven adoption industry that removed thousands of children in the 1970s and '80s.
Fox News: Vermont set to end COVID-era hotel housing for homeless people due to lack of federal funding
Vermont is ending its COVID-era hotel housing for homeless people due to a lack of federal funding, leaving 1,800 households with nowhere to go. This has led to fears many will again become homeless. The state had one of the highest rates of homelessness per capita in 2022. Advocates are calling for a housing extension to help the vulnerable people who could be left without permanent solutions. Many of the homeless people have physical or mental health issues or are single moms with children, for whom hotel housing has been a temporary fix. The homeless people are being offered camping gear by shelters, but this is not a good long-term solution.
The Epoch Times: Hong Kong Pro-Democracy Shop Permanent Shut Down Due to Endless Political Disturbance
Hong Kong clothing brand Chickeeduck announced that its last physical store and online store will close by June 30, 2023 after 33 years in business, citing harassment and supply chain disruption. The owner, Herbert Chow, expressed his honor to have served the city for so long, but the brand has faced political repression due to their pro-democracy stance. Chickeeduck has been selling products since 2019 with pro-democracy prints, such as T-shirts and hoodies. Chow, who joined the Legislative Council Election in 2020 as the only pro-democracy candidate, has been advocating for Hongkongers actively and regularly on political issues since 2019.

Forbes: Tesla Execs Will Reportedly Meet Indian Officials In Coming Days—In Push To Reduce Reliance On China
Tesla executives will meet with Indian government officials this week to discuss local supply chain options and reducing its reliance on China. C-suite executives and supply chain managers will be part of the delegation, but no one has been named. The talks include the subject of high import duties for luxury vehicles that cost over $40k, like Tesla's Model 3. The Indian government has indicated it wants Tesla to manufacture in India and would not allow vehicles from its Shanghai factory to be imported. The move comes as Tesla continues expanding into global markets, reducing supply chain disruption risk.

The finding’s publication in the academic journal Heritage Science suggests Israelites were literate when they entered the land, which is sure to raise eyebrows among archaeologists.

Forbes: Command Eludes Alek Manoah Again In Rough Toronto Blue Jays Start Against New York Yankees
Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah has been struggling during the 2023 Major League Baseball season. The former All Star's mechanics, rhythm, command, and control have eluded him. His fastball velocity has dropped, and he's having trouble commanding his pitches. In his most recent start, he walked seven batters in four innings pitched, leaving the game without retiring a single batter. With half of the season remaining, the Blue Jays need to help Manoah regain his confidence and get back on track.
To fix his command issues, Manoah needs to repeat his delivery and throw all of his pitches for strikes, especially his once-reliable slider. He can still be successful with a reduction in velocity if he locates his pitches well and keeps hitters off balance. The Blue Jays need Manoah to return to his All Star form to remain in contention in the American League East Division pennant race. With plenty of time left in the season, Manoah has the opportunity to turn his performance around and show progress in his next start.
