The Right Scoop: BREAKING: Biden just got beat in the courts AGAIN by the Governor of Florida
A federal judge has denied the DHS's request for a stay on Florida's court ruling preventing the mass release of illegal immigrants without court notices. The judge who issued the ruling is the same judge who initially issued the TRO and is a Trump appointee. The Biden administration may appeal to a higher court.
PJ Media: Joe Biden Yuks It Up Over the Border
Photos of Joe Biden stumbling up the steps to Air Force One circulated shortly after he took office, prompting some to defend him. However, Biden's true character - one of narcissism and opportunism - is now on display for the world to see as he laughs off the serious situation at the border. Despite processing centers being over capacity and many illegals not being properly vetted, Biden's handlers seem content to keep him away from it all.
Breitbart: Florida Sending Assistance to Texas to Secure Southern Border
Florida is sending law enforcement officers, National Guard troops, unmanned aerial vehicles, vessels, and aircraft with monitoring equipment to the southern border to assist Texas in addressing the border crisis. Governor Ron DeSantis announced the deployment of assets in response to the lifting of Title 42 last week. This is not the first time Florida has offered assistance to Texas, which saw officers sent by DeSantis to assist with issues in both Texas and Arizona earlier this year. Governor DeSantis has also taken action against illegal immigration in his own state, signing Senate Bill 1718 to implement full E-Verify for employment.

Fox News: Minnesota lawmakers draft final version of legal pot bill
Minnesota's conference committee chairs, Rep. Zack Stephenson and Sen. Lindsey Port, both Democrats, have finalized a bill legalizing recreational marijuana in the state. Final approval is expected after both chambers vote on the bill once more. The bill includes a 10% tax on cannabis products and possession limits for cannabis flower of two pounds at home and two ounces in public. Marijuana use at home, possession, and home growing will become legal on Aug 1, but retail sales at dispensaries are probably at least a year away.
Minnesota lawmakers are considering a bill which would legalize recreational marijuana as conference committees finish major budget bills for the 2023 session. Republican lawmakers expressed their anger by forcing lengthy debates but Democrats hope to finish earlier. The final version of the bill includes provisions allowing minor marijuana convictions to be expunged and new juvenile justice initiatives with an emphasis on rehabilitation. Gov. Tim Walz, a Democrat, plans to back and sign the bill.

Daily Wire: DeSantis Hits Back After Trump Suggests Florida’s 6-Week Abortion Ban Is ‘Too Harsh’
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a six-week abortion ban into law, which drew criticism from former President Donald Trump, who said that it was too harsh. However, DeSantis fired back at Trump, stating that he signed the bill and was proud to do so, while questioning why Trump would not answer if he would sign it. Pro-life groups also expressed their disappointment at Trump's comment. The pro-life movement has faced defeats in 2022, and the GOP has been trying to find the popular limits of their positions on abortion. Republican voters tend to favor more restrictions on abortion, while Democrats are more permissive.
Forbes: McCarthy Says Debt Ceiling Deal Could Be Imminent—Here’s What Might Hold It Up
President Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy are optimistic about reaching a deal to raise the nation’s debt ceiling following a positive round of negotiations. However, both sides remain hung up on several details with a June 1 deadline approaching. McCarthy has demanded stricter work requirements for welfare recipients, while Biden is willing to make tweaks to work requirements but has ruled out changes to Medicaid.
National Review: Massachusetts U.S. Attorney to Resign after Attending DNC Fundraiser
Massachusetts U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins will resign following multiple federal investigations into her appearance at a 2022 DNC fundraiser alongside Jill Biden. Both the Department of Justice’s Office of the Inspector General and the U.S. Office of Special Counsel are investigating her breach of the Hatch Act. Rollins’s use of her personal cellphone to conduct DOJ business and her receipt of payment for a California trip are also being probed. The OIG’s findings have yet to be released.
Fox News: Judge blocks part of NJ handgun carry law, handing tentative win to 2A advocates
A federal judge has blocked a part of a new gun control law signed by Democratic New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy in December 2021 that barred lawful carry of firearms in certain places, such as public gatherings, zoos, bars and certain entertainment facilities including casinos. The order also halted a new insurance mandate for firearms carriers scheduled to take effect in July. However, the ruling did not specify any change to the carry prohibitions in places such as schools, universities or child care facilities. Second Amendment rights groups praised the decision as a “devastating blow to the misguided law” while Murphy’s spokesperson called the decision “misguided and erroneous”.

However, the barrage damaged a $1bn US-made Patriot air defence system near the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. Reports differ on whether the damage to the system was significant. Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu denied that the country had fired as many Kinzhal missiles as Ukraine claimed to have shot down, alleging that the number was exaggerated and that Ukrainian responses with anti-missile systems were inaccurate.

The Epoch Times: 'Made in USA': Treasury Details Solar Panel Tax Credits
U.S. Treasury Department guidelines state that solar panels only need to be assembled in the U.S. to qualify for tax breaks, even if parts are made in China. Investors support the news, but critics warn it could further China's dominance in the sector instead of boosting U.S. manufacturing.
The Epoch Times: Stock Market Today: Wall Street Weakens as Energy Stocks, Home Depot Weigh
Sales at Home Depot have fallen more than expected as revenue fell across its broader business. This was due to years of growth, adding to the weight on the economy. The news saw energy producers, such as Exxon Mobil and Chevron, drop 2.4% and 2.3%, respectively, while the S&P 500 fell by 0.6%. Confidence among shoppers has been in decline and if spending contracts recession fears may increase, putting even more pressure seasonally on upcoming reports from Target and Walmart. Despite the looming concern of a recession, big tech has continued to show strong growth, with Amazon gaining 2%, and Google's parent gaining 2.6% but it was seen as one of the only positives on an otherwise bleak day.
Breitbart: Breitbart Business Digest: We're Still Not in a Recession
Industrial production rose by half a percentage point in April, with manufacturing output up by one percent, surpassing expectations. The auto sector is showing signs of resilience, with motor vehicle and parts production up by 9.3 percent and motor vehicle assemblies reaching an 11.4 million seasonally adjusted annual rate. Despite this, Americans remain pessimistic about the economy, with 67 percent describing it as only fair or poor, although consumer behavior appears to be performing in line with economic reality.
The labor market in the US is extremely tight, with 220,000 jobs generated each month in 2021, an unemployment rate of 3.4 percent, and 1.6 vacant jobs per unemployed person. However, one-third of Americans correctly said jobs grew last month, with 41 percent saying job growth was nonexistent, and 25 percent saying jobs were lost. Although 54 percent of Americans see inflation as the most important economic challenge, sales jumped in April, with online sales, sales at general merchandise stores, and sales at bars and restaurants driving the gains.

The Federalist Papers: Miller Lite Doubles Down After 'Bad S***' Ad Backlash, Made Massive Donation to Woke Group
Miller Lite faces backlash after releasing a YouTube video in March in which actress Ilana Glazer apologizes for the brand's objectification of women in past beer ads. She talks about Miller's attempt to make amends by shredding sexualized advertisements and turning them into "good s***" for women brewers. Miller also donated $60,000 to the Pink Boots Society to support women in advancing their careers through brewing education. Despite being ignored at the time of release, the ad is gaining traction amidst the Bud Light fiasco over its partnership with transgender TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney. Many on social media have criticized Miller's ad campaign as silly and virtue-signaling, and the company is scolding customers over their criticism and asking them to appreciate the humor.

National Review: The Corner: Guttmacher Misleads on Recent Unintended-Pregnancy Declines
New data from the Guttmacher Institute shows that pregnancies are becoming more planned and desired. Between 2009 and 2015, there was a decrease in the rate of pregnancies that occurred too soon and an increase in the rate of pregnancies that occurred at the right time or later than planned. However, there was a large increase in the proportion of pregnancies that took place too late, especially among women aged 35 to 44. The authors linked these findings to the Affordable Care Act's contraceptive mandate, but it should be noted that Guttmacher's older data suggests that this may not always lead to declines in unintended-pregnancy rates or abortion rates. Furthermore, long-term data shows that unintended-pregnancy rates have increased since the 1990s. Pro-life efforts have played a substantial role in the decline of abortion rates, and these efforts must continue.

Jury deliberation has begun in the trial of limousine company manager Nauman Hussain, who is charged with negligent homicide and manslaughter for a 2018 crash in Schoharie, upstate New York that left 20 people dead. Hussain's lawyer, however, blamed the repair shop Mavis Discount Tires, which routinely worked on the limousine. Seventeen passengers, the driver and two bystanders died in the crash. Mavis is not on trial, but the company is being sued by families of the victims.
