The Blaze: US soldier opened border gate for illegal migrants, Fox News national correspondent reports
A video appears to show a US soldier opening a border gate to allow illegal migrants onto private property in Texas, sparking outrage online. The soldier, who is reportedly a Title 10 soldier from the Missouri Army National Guard under orders from the federal government and working with Border Patrol, is not a soldier with the Texas National Guard or Texas Army National Guard. US Northern Command has stated that its soldiers are currently stationed at the southern border to provide support to Border Patrol. The Border Patrol did not respond to a request for comment.
Townhall: Private Sector Pressure Can Provide a Solution for Immigration Reform
President Biden ending Title 42 is like leaving America's borders open for anyone to enter. Arkansas' leaders, such as Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Senators Cotton and Boozman, are fighting against illegal immigration. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce's LIBERTY Campaign, with over 430 groups supporting, calls for immigration reform to enforce laws, secure borders, and modernize the visa system. The campaign hopes to put pressure on the Biden administration to take action on illegal immigration while addressing workforce shortages. It is encouraging to see private sector support and it may act as a catalyst for Congress to fix the immigration system.
Fox News: Florida baby found dead in dumpster was child of woman illegally in US
A dead baby found in a Florida dumpster was born from a mother living in the country illegally. The infant was born dead with a severe brain deformity and was found in a dumpster behind a gym. The mother, Brusela D'Enstachio-Lugo, 34, admitted to giving birth to the child outside of her home and admitted to putting the infant's remains in the dumpster. She said she didn't know she was pregnant and did not go to the hospital because she was in the country illegally and didn't have money to pay for medical expenses. D’Enstachio-Lugo was charged with a misdemeanor related to the storage of human remains and her DNA was collected.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is deploying state resources, including law enforcement and drones, to Texas to help with the ongoing migrant crisis at the border. He commented that the federal government’s abdication of duty undermines the sovereignty of the country and the rule of law, and vowed that his state is "ready to help" in their efforts to secure the border. In response, the Texas Department of Public Safety welcomed the support offered by the state of Florida.

Forbes: Welfare Work Requirements Emerge As Central Issue In Debt Ceiling Fight
Republicans insist stricter work requirements for welfare recipients is non-negotiable for raising the debt limit, despite potential backlash from Democrats. The minimum 20-hour requirement was passed by the GOP-led House and could affect around 275,000 food stamp recipients if it were to become law. President Biden has voiced his openness to the idea, but also concerns that the measure would cause poverty. Meanwhile, negotiations have appeared to make small steps towards making an agreement after months of impasse.
The Epoch Times: MPs Seek to Review 10 Years' Worth of Trudeau Foundation Tax Returns
Conservative and Bloc Québécois members of a House of Commons committee want to review the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation's tax returns dating back 10 years following suspicions of a misrepresentation of a $140,000 Beijing-linked donation. The MPs want the Canada Revenue Agency to provide the committee with the relevant tax documents along with the foundation's accompanying schedules and related documents for charitable information returns during the specified time frame; they should be unredacted. The motion also requests that the CRA provide an accounting of all foreign donors and all documents related to any audit or investigation of the Trudeau Foundation.
Red State: IRS Whistleblower Formally Alleges Retaliation After DOJ Removes Team From Hunter Case
The entire IRS team on the Hunter Biden probe has been removed, according to a whistleblower's attorneys. The Department of Justice ordered their removal as a retaliation for try ing to make whistleblower disclosures. This move is clearly retaliatory and may constitute obstruction of a congressional inquiry, violating the whistleblower's protection as well as Congress's longstanding appropriations restrictions, and it sets a precedent for further disregard of the rule of law.
The Blaze: Only 2 Democrats vote against resolution honoring police — then they use Trump, Jan. 6 as their justification
Two members of the "Squad," Reps. Rashida Tlaib and Cori Bush, voted against a House resolution to support law enforcement for National Police Week. The Democrats defended themselves, accusing Republicans of "gaslight[ing]" the public about law enforcement and invoking Jan. 6 and former President Donald Trump. The other members of the "Squad" voted for the resolution. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise called out those lawmakers he believed would vote against the resolution, accusing them of hypocritically supporting "defund the police" while themselves utilizing security personnel.
Fox News: White House responds to calls for Biden to apologize for Hiroshima bombing during Japan trip
President Biden will travel to Hiroshima, Japan, on Wednesday to meet with other leaders from the G-7, and pay respects to the victims of atomic bombings. No U.S. president has apologized for the bombings before. The focus of the trip is to address global challenges and opportunities.
Biden's trip may be cut short due to ongoing budget negotiations with Republicans in Congress over raising the debt ceiling. The two factions have two weeks to avert a crisis. The U.S. has never defaulted on its debt.
Fox News: Kayleigh McEnany torches FBI over Durham report findings: 'National police force trying to sway an election'
Kayleigh McEnany responds to the release of John Durham's final report investigating the origins of the Russia probe, accusing the FBI of trying to manipulate the results of the 2016 election. Fox News: These 4 Dems sent millions in earmarks to their spouses' employers
Four Democrats in Congress have sponsored millions of dollars in federal spending for organizations that employed their spouses over the last two years. Sen. Tim Kaine and Reps. Pete Aguilar, Jason Crow, and Mike Thompson helped steer the money through earmarks. Earmarks are provisions that members of Congress write into law directing federal funds to specific local projects in their states and districts.
Congress eliminated earmarks in 2011 amid several controversies involving alleged waste and corruption over various projects. But 10 years later, Democrats announced the return of congressional earmarks, promising this time it would be different. Members of Congress sponsoring earmarks that benefit their spouses' employers isn't a new issue. In 2012, for example, Citizens for Ethics and Responsibility in Washington (CREW), a watchdog group, found that 38 members of Congress – 24 Democrats and 14 Republicans – had sent earmarks to a family business, employer or associated nonprofit.
Daily Wire: The U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve Isn’t Joe Biden’s Political Reservoir
President Biden's decision to sell 260 million barrels of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) to offset disgust at record-high gas prices has led to the SPR's reserves falling by 34% in just one year. The Department of Energy recently announced it would refill the SPR, however, critics point out that the move resulted in a higher refill cost after the drawdown led to higher oil prices. Even if the repurchasing process goes smoothly, it will only replenish less than 2% of what has been drawn down from the SPR. This is another example of the long-term damage Team Biden has inflicted on America, and many believe it was a political decision rather than a strategic one.

The Epoch Times: Going Nuclear in Asia: More Than Just Building a Bomb
Japan, South Korea, and Australia are considering building their own nuclear forces due to concerns about the United States' dependable security commitment to Asia. However, building a credible nuclear force is challenging and requires a specialized supporting infrastructure and a considerable cost, which would take decades to implement. Domestic opposition may also be intense, with liberal and left-wing forces likely opposing nuclearization if it destabilizes regional security. Nonetheless, ultra-conservatives and far-right groups in Japan and South Korea may support the idea of possessing nuclear weapons.

The Epoch Times: Stanford Professors Fear Half of US Banks Approaching Insolvency, as Navarro Blames 'Biden's Inflation'
Professors Anat Admati, Martin Hellwig, and Richard Portes have analyzed the banking sector's systemic issues, focusing on the failure of Silicon Valley Bank and First Republic Bank in 2023. Insolvency is a problem not limited to these two banks, with unrealized losses on securities in US banks totaling around $2 trillion. The Federal Reserve's current policies only temporarily fix the problem, and the professors recommend measures such as restricting executive compensation and payouts to shareholders for banks that don't meet equity capital standards under fair-value accounting. The professors also call for regulatory reforms to prevent further bank failures.
Professor Amit Seru, of Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Hoover Institution, warns of serious dangers facing the banking sector due to the rise in interest rates. He and his team conducted a mini stress test on US banks, calculating the mark-to-market value of banks' assets based on monetary tightening over the past year, finding an alarming $2 trillion hole in the balance sheet of the aggregate banking sector. Seru expresses concern about the rising interest rates and the possibility of a credit crunch. He's particularly concerned about the commercial real estate sector in the United States, which has not fully recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Former Audi CEO Rupert Stadler has pleaded guilty to charges linked to the Volkswagen Group's diesel emissions scandal. The plea came as part of a deal with the court to pay a €1.1m ($1.2m) fine and accept probation instead of jail time. Three other, lower-ranking, managers have also pleaded guilty in the case.
Forbes: U.S. Debt Default Would Cause Mortgage Rate Spike, Home Sales Slump
A U.S. debt default, which is becoming more possible due to congressional stalemate, would increase chances of recession and push mortgage rates up to 8.4%, causing a 23% decline in home sales. A Moody’s Analytics report has increased the likelihood of default from 5% to 10%, while Zillow’s senior economist, Jeff Tucker, calls it a "self-inflicted disaster." Jaret Seiberg, a housing policy analyst, called Tucker's estimates too conservative and put the "X-date" for the default date at best "almost certainly in August."

Morris hasn't had much success, so she used Carlson's mockery of her as a badge of honor. She raised $150,000 for LGBTQ+ charities from Carlson calling her a lunatic. Carlson will continue to drive news cycles, while Morris will most likely be remanded back to "woke" country music obscurity.
