Washington Free Beacon: Newsom Warned Migrants Could 'Break' California. Now Dems Want To Give Illegals Unemployment.
Newsom Warned Migrants Could 'Break' California. Now Dems Want To Give Illegals Unemployment.
CA Democrats consider offering unemployment benefits to illegal immigrants, with proposed legislation granting up to $300 per week for a maximum of 20 weeks. The state is seeking to expand welfare programs for undocumented workers, arguing that the payroll taxes on illegal immigrants contribute $485 million a year to the state's Unemployment Insurance system.

NYC mayor at a loss over Biden's absence as cities bear brunt of migrant crisis: 'Good question'
NYC Mayor Eric Adams says the illegal migrant surge is a national problem needing a national solution, asking where the President is amid criticism of the Biden administration. Adams was removed from Biden's National Advisory Board days after his criticisms of the migrant crisis. Governor Kathy Hochul also claimed that New York is "bursting at the seams" with illegal immigrants, linking the migration influx to the "irresponsibility" of Republican Party for failing to pass real immigration reform and of the White House for not addressing the problem.

Fox News: Group of 30 Chinese migrants found near Texas-Mexico border
Group of 30 Chinese migrants found near Texas-Mexico border
Texas law enforcement found a group of 30 Chinese citizens near the southern border, calling U.S. Border Patrol to process them. The Rio Grande Valley has seen a high influx of illegal crossings into the U.S. from Mexico.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott criticized the Biden administration for not doing enough to address illegal immigration and has taken drastic measures to combat the flow of migrants, including busing them to democratic-led cities. However, border crossings dropped by 50% since Title 42 expired due to criminal penalties for illegally entering the country, though it is still early in this new regime.

The Epoch Times: EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Adam Schiff Still Insists Trump Conspired With Russia After Durham Report Further Discredits FBI Probe
EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Adam Schiff Still Insists Trump Conspired With Russia After Durham Report Further Discredits FBI Probe
Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif) remains convinced that members of Donald Trump's campaign worked with Russian intelligence to steal the 2016 election, despite the newly released Durham Report finding no evidence of collusion. Schiff pointed to "secret meetings" between former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and a Russian intelligence agent as evidence of collusion, as well as Donald Trump Jr.'s connections to Russian intelligence and former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn's collusion. The Durham Report found no evidence of Manafort providing internal polling data to the Russians or any other evidence of collusion.

The California Democrat remains unswayed by the Durham Report, despite its conclusion of no collusion between former President Trump and Russia. Schiff has accused Manafort of engaging in plain collusion and Donald Trump Jr. of having close connections with Russian intelligence. The Durham report, however, finds no evidence of Manafort providing the Russians with internal polling data or of Trump Jr. being involved in a collusion effort. Schiff has also claimed that Flynn was involved in collusion, but Flynn's conversations regarding U.S. sanctions with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak took place after Trump was declared the winner of the election. Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to then-Vice President Mike Pence about his contacts with Kislyak, but his pardon by Trump after the 2020 presidential election suggests his potential innocence from any wrongdoing.

Flag And Cross: CNN Labels Trump Town Hall Host a 'World-Class Journalist' After Event Totally Backfires
CNN Labels Trump Town Hall Host a 'World-Class Journalist' After Event Totally Backfires
CNN's town hall with former President Donald Trump was supposed to be a fact-checking session, but it turned out to be a dumpster fire. The network claimed that moderator Kaitlan Collins spoke truth to power, but evidence shows she made it more of a moderator trying to pick a fight. Trump left the event unbowed and triumphant, and there were criticisms from both the left and right. CNN will likely continue to call this "world-class journalism," but it was really just bear-baiting that had little to do with the issues voters care about in 2024.

‘We Almost Live In Different Realities’: Barack Obama Says ‘Divided Media’ Keeps Him Up At Night
Former President Barack Obama expressed concern about the divided nature of media and how it translates into a divided America. Obama referenced the time before cable news, the internet, and the 24-hour news cycle when everyone could agree on the facts. He argued that because of the splintering of the media, people now occupy different realities, which makes it difficult to have a common conversation. Obama aims to find ways to bring the conversation back to where people can agree on a common set of facts.

In the same interview, Obama addressed the topic of gun violence and mass shootings, arguing that the gun control argument had become more political than necessary. He said that instead of arguing about identity and emotion, people should think about it in a pragmatic way to keep children safe.

Durham Report Shows Hate-Trump Bias Inside FBI - The New American
The Durham Report reveals the truth about the hate-Trump Russia Collusion Hoax hatched by Hillary Clinton’s campaign team. The report found that agents in the FBI wanted Clinton to win the election and were obsessed with stopping Trump, ignoring information that contradicted sources who claimed Trump was working with the Russians. The report concludes that the FBI and Justice Department failed to uphold their mission of strict fidelity to the law, and instead were focused on stopping Trump from becoming president.

Cultural Shift in Federal Reserve Supervision Another Contributor to Banking Turmoil: House Panel
A House Financial Services Committee hearing on May 16 discussed the cultural shift in supervision at the Federal Reserve system, which may have contributed to the turmoil in the banking system. The Committee reviewed the central bank's recent Supervision and Regulation Report, which revealed a reduction in supervisory intensity and reluctance to escalate issues due to changes stemming from the coronavirus pandemic. With three bank failures so far this year, there were also calls for more oversight of bank executive compensation. President Biden encouraged Congress to impose stricter penalties on senior bank executives, including banning them from working in the banking industry again.

NBC Tool Ken Dilanian Shills for Deep State, Wholly Dismisses Durham Report
NBC justice correspondent Ken Dilanian dismissed the findings of Special Counsel John Durham's report on the Trump-Russia probe, despite Durham's call for the creation of a position to ensure no improprieties in politically-charged investigations. Dilanian further defended the probe that caused a near-permanent suction of the national news cycle, mentioning Special Counsel Robert Mueller's findings that the Trump campaign was eager to accept help from Russians. CBS chief investigative correspondent Catherine Herridge presented a stronger report of the findings, pointing out the FBI's reliance on information provided or funded by Trump's political opponents and the FBI's discounting or willful ignorance of information that did not support the Russia collusion narrative.

NRA immediately hits Maryland with lawsuit after Dem governor signs sweeping gun control bills into law
The NRA has sued Maryland over two recently enacted gun control laws that restrict legal carry and make obtaining licenses more burdensome. Governor Wes Moore signed SB 1 and HB 824 into law this week after Democratic lawmakers praised them as efforts to cut down on gun violence. The NRA sees the laws as "illegal under the US Constitution" and files suit accordingly. In related news, in a nationwide effort to protect Second Amendment rights, Republican attorneys general signed an open letter opposing executive orders from President Biden on May 5 imposing certain gun control measures. They argued that the orders were "unlawful" and infringed upon citizens' rights.

FBI blased for defensive response to Durham report: 'Does anyone seriously believe this?'
The FBI's response to Special Counsel John Durham's report on the Trump-Russia investigation was criticized by critics who argued that the agency needed to take more accountability. Durham's investigation found that the DOJ and the FBI "failed to uphold their mission of strict fidelity to the law." The report also revealed that the FBI displayed a serious lack of analytical rigor towards the information that they received, particularly information received from politically-affiliated persons and entities. The FBI responded by saying that it had already implemented corrective actions as a result of the investigation. The report highlights that the Trump investigation was "markedly different" from the government's interest in Clinton's campaign, and critics called for the department to be abolished.

Durham's report also highlighted that the Trump investigation was "markedly different" from the government’s level of interest in Clinton's campaign.

American Thinker: When did the IRS actually scuttle the Hunter Biden investigation
When did the IRS actually scuttle the Hunter Biden investigation
Attorneys of an IRS whistleblower claim that the Hunter Biden investigation may have been a sham, and that an experienced investigative team was removed from the case at the request of the Department of Justice. Whistleblower protections were violated, they argue, and any attempt to obstruct congressional investigation is a direct violation of appropriations restriction. While neither the IRS nor the Justice Department has yet responded to these claims, it has emerged that the FBI completed work on the case about a year ago, leaving speculation that this is just Kabuki theater to many.

Local Group Helps ‘Restore Dignity’ to Those Experiencing Homelessness
Volunteers at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Long Beach, California, provide services to those experiencing homelessness every Saturday morning, including free clothing, showers, meals, a place to do laundry, and a community garden plot. The program is led entirely by volunteers from various professional backgrounds, such as dental hygienists and nurses, and serves around 150 guests weekly. Lack of affordable housing and basic necessities have contributed to the homelessness problem, but the volunteers at St. Luke's are dedicated to meeting the needs of those who walk through their doors.

Samburu warriors celebrate the great weather with a new fashion of headdress while farmers like the author, who lost most of their animals and crops, are busy recovering. Some claim human action caused the drought, but dry spells have been a regular occurrence in Kenya for as long as anyone can remember. With a sense of gratitude, farmers are now focused on rebuilding their livelihoods and welcoming the return of buzzing life on the farm.

Disc Golf Org. Wins Appeal To Protect Women's Division At Tournament
A lawsuit was filed by trans athlete Natalie Ryan to compete in a women's disc golf tournament in California. The governing body ruling excluded Ryan from the women's division, stating that trans women must undergo surgery or maintain a certain testosterone level for two years. However, a court ruled in favor of Ryan, claiming discrimination. The ruling was short-lived, as the court later determined it lacked jurisdiction due to the plaintiff and defendant belonging to the same state. Despite Ryan's outrage, disc golf recognized the harm posed to women and courageously stood up to transgenderism.

Squires: Would black people be better off today if Malcolm X had led the civil rights era instead of Martin Luther King Jr.?
The traditional black leadership class is in decline, with the legacies of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. fading into irrelevance. Louis Farrakhan and Jesse Jackson, spiritual and cultural heirs, offer insight into the divergent visions of their mentors. While King focused on civil disobedience, nonviolent protest and institutional change, Malcolm X advocated for self-defense and building up a separate nation. Both saw the United States as systemically racist, but their disciples have taken different paths. Farrakhan has fallen into irrelevance, while Jackson’s closeness to Obama and Parkinson’s disease have caused his decline. Today, the legacy of the black church is less about personal morality and self-respect and more about political power and trying to change white people's behavior. (society)

Russia Renounces Cold War-Era Treaty Limiting Force Deployments in Europe
The Russian State Duma has adopted a bill enabling Moscow's withdrawal from the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe (CFE), which limited deployment of conventional military forces in Europe. A moratorium on implementing CFE provisions was declared by Russia in 2007 after which it suspended its participation in 2015. The treaty was intended to maintain a balance of forces in Europe between NATO and Warsaw Pact states. Russia's deputy foreign minister said the treaty was a "relic of the past" and decried "the West, by its destructive actions" making Moscow's commitment untenable.

Biden Blocks Bipartisan Bill That Would Restore Tariffs on Chinese Solar Panels
President Joe Biden has vetoed a bill to restore tariffs on Chinese solar panels sold out of Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. The waivers granted to these four Southeast Asian countries will remain in place for two years, but Biden said he does not intend to extend them after expiration, rather using the time to ramp up US manufacturing to supply domestic projects to fight climate change. Congressional Democrats disagree. Two-thirds majorities in both Senate and House of Representatives would be needed to override Biden's veto.

Executives Behind Failed Banks Tell Lawmakers Why The Companies Collapsed
Executives from Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank testified before the Senate that their banks failed due to panicked depositors, rather than mismanagement, with withdrawals beginning after Silvergate Bank closed down and amid volatility in the cryptocurrency market. The collapse of Silicon Valley Bank led the government-backed firm to secure insured and uninsured accounts to prevent bank runs, while other banks continue to face financial distress. Lawmakers argued that the executives should return their compensation, with President Joe Biden calling for increased federal authority to hold senior management accountable when their banks fail or come under regulatory control.

Americans' belief that it's a good time to buy a house has hit a record low, falling to only 21%. The decrease is attributed to soaring housing prices and the Federal Reserve raising interest rates to tackle inflation.

Fox News: China listed as a top offender in annual State Department freedom of religion report
China listed as a top offender in annual State Department freedom of religion report
China continues to be one of the worst abusers of human rights and religious freedom in the world, with its treatment of ethnic Muslim Uyghurs and Tibetan Buddhists remaining a top concern, according to the US State Department's latest report. The new survey found that China's religious oppression has widened over the last year, with methods including torture, beatings, unlawful surveillance, and re-education camps. The report also indicated other nations, such as Iran, Afghanistan, India, and North Korea, as major offenders regarding preserving religious rights for citizens.

China has shut down an advocacy group supporting the LGBTQ community in Beijing, in what seems to be part of a greater crackdown on people or groups that could incite opposition to state policy. Following the release of the US State Department's report on China's human rights record, a spokesman for China's foreign ministry, Wang Webin, said that Washington's assertions lacked factual basis and distorted China's ethnic and religious policies. The report found the Chinese Communist Party guilty of gross human rights abuses and genocide, which the party denies.

The Epoch Times: Environmental Toxins Linked to Steep Rise in Parkinson’s Disease
Environmental Toxins Linked to Steep Rise in Parkinson’s Disease
Parkinson’s disease is now the second-fastest-growing degenerative neurological disorder worldwide, and evidence suggests exposure to environmental toxins is a significant factor. Americans are exposed to over 80,000 toxic chemicals; current law fails to protect against unsafe chemicals. Pesticides and herbicides containing glyphosate-based herbicides and paraquat are linked to Parkinson’s. Other chemicals such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and trichloroethylene (TCE) used in industrial and consumer products are also linked to the disease. Increased risk is present in rural areas, although the association between environmental toxins and Parkinson’s is complex.

The Epoch Times: Monkeypox Alert Issued By CDC Over New Cases in Major US City
Monkeypox Alert Issued By CDC Over New Cases in Major US City
The CDC has issued an alert for monkeypox after a cluster of cases in Chicago, including among vaccinated individuals. Nine out of 13 cases were identified in men who had received two doses of the licensed vaccine for monkeypox, Jynneos. However, individuals who had previously been vaccinated can still be infected. A resurgence of monkeypox is expected in the spring and summer months, with the virus disproportionately affecting gay and bisexual men, other men who have sex with men, and transgender people. The CDC is urging clinicians to be on alert for new cases and to encourage vaccination for people at risk, while recommending a detailed sexual history for suspected patients.

Monkeypox is a rare but potentially serious virus that spreads through contact with infected individuals or bodily fluids, including through sexual contact. Symptoms include fever, chills, fatigue, muscle aches, and headaches, as well as blister-like rashes. The CDC recommends the Jynneos vaccine, which is effective in preventing monkeypox in 95% of cases but its effectiveness is unknown in individuals with compromised immune systems. Serious health conditions have been reported among vaccinated individuals at a rate of 22 per one million, including inflammation of heart muscle and fluid around the heart. The CDC estimates that 23% of the at-risk population has been fully vaccinated.

Suzanne Morphew's friend slams $15M lawsuit from missing woman's husband as 'bogus'
Barry Morphew, an accused murderer whose charges were dropped in April 2022, filed a $15 million lawsuit against Colorado prosecutors; an acquaintance of his missing wife Suzanne thinks it is "bogus." Tisha Leewaye, who used to work with Suzanne, said that just because the charges were dropped did not mean Barry was not still a suspect. Suzanne went missing after a bike ride in 2020, and her remains are yet to be discovered. Leewaye claimed that despite being at almost every court hearing in the case, she was not best friends with Suzanne and could not comment on her marriage with Barry.

Barry Morphew and his daughters Macy and Mallory made a statement to Fox News Digital saying they hoped that DA Linda Stanley and law enforcement would find Suzanne. However, they filed the $15 million lawsuit a week before Mother's Day, which marks three years since Suzanne disappeared. Morphew's attorney Iris Eytan retaliated to Leewaye's comment, saying she didn't know about Suzanne and that the lawsuit was about protecting Barry's constitutional rights rather than getting money. Morphew was arrested on murder charges as prosecutors accused him of killing his wife, who had supposedly decided to leave him. The case took a twist when prosecutors asked the judge to drop and dismiss the murder charges without prejudice in April 2022.
