The Epoch Times: Public Sector Offered 10.5 Percent Pay Rise
Commonwealth public servants in Australia have been offered a pay rise of 10.5% over the next three years. This follows negotiations between the Community and Public Sector Union and the government and will see public servants receive a 4% pay rise in the first year, 3.5% in the second year, and 3% in the third year. The federal government has taken into account wages around the country, economic indicators, the labour market, and budgetary factors to make the decision.
The pay offer comes after Finance and Public Service Minister Katy Gallagher announced an ambitious reform agenda for the APS. As part of the 2023-24 Budget, the federal government will spend $10.9m to establish an in-house consulting function, $8.4m to build the capability of the APS to address service-wide challenges, and $3.4m to support the government’s commitment to achieving 5% First Nations employment by 2030. They will also spend $195.6m to provide faster services and help address the backlog of claims for Veterans.

Stefanik claims that Special Counsel John Durham's report on the origin of the FBI's investigation into President Trump's campaign has revealed an "illegal, unlawful, and unAmerican abuse of power" that was "in on it from the very beginning" and went "all the way up to the Oval Office". The report concludes that the FBI should have never launched an investigation into the Trump campaign, but that senior FBI personnel showed a serious lack of analytical rigor towards the information they received. The report also details how former CIA director John Brennan briefed former President Barack Obama and his top national security officials on the matter.

Breitbart: Middle Schooler Made to Remove Shirt that Said 'There Are Only 2 Genders' Sues School
A Massachusetts middle schooler was allegedly asked to remove his shirt with the phrase “there are only two genders” written on it, as it was considered “targeting a protected class”. The student, Liam Morrison, and his family are suing Nichols Middle School for violating his First Amendment rights. Morrison shared his experience in a school board meeting and later wore a modified version of the shirt, which read “there are ‘censored’ genders”, and was asked to remove it as well. He is now being represented by Massachusetts Family Institute and a lawsuit is expected to be filed soon.

China will launch 20 pilot programs across the country as part of government efforts to raise the country's birth rate. The “new-era marriage and childbearing culture” scheme aims to combat demographic decline, which has resulted from decades of family planning policies. Focus will be on tasks including promotion of marriage and having children at appropriate ages, encouraging parents to share child-rearing responsibilities, and curbing high "bride prices” and outdated customs. The pilot programs are part of efforts by municipal governments to hand out marriage licenses on May 20 and come in the wake of marches held in support of non-traditional relationships across the country.

Auto prices in the US are rising, with many Americans unable to afford the higher costs. The average cost of a new vehicle is $48,000, leaving many people unable to buy them. The push toward electric vehicles and component shortages is also slowing down the global assembly line, making new cars scarce. As a result, the average age of a passenger vehicle in the US has hit a record 12.5 years in 2023. Auto repair shops are benefiting from more owners willing to stick with their old cars. Although there has been an increase in sales, the advancing age of cars is expected to continue to rise, with no return to pre-pandemic sales predicted.

The Epoch Times: GM Recalls 42,000 Vehicles in Canada for Air Bag Defect
GM recalls 42,000 SUVs in Canada due to the risk of the airbag inflator exploding during deployment; the recall comes after a similar recall of nearly one million models in the US. The company is replacing the driver's airbag module and dealers are expected to repair the vehicles shortly. ARC Automotive, a supplier of airbag modules, is resisting the recall of 67 million inflators the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is seeking. Around a dozen automakers, including BMW, Chrysler-parent Stellantis, and Hyundai, also use ARC airbag inflators.
