Border Patrol agents arrested an Afghani migrant who was on the FBI Terrorist Screening Database (TSDB) watch list after crossing the border from Mexico. The man was found with a group of migrants near Otay Mesa, California. The number of migrant apprehensions has surged during the two weeks leading up to the end of the Trump-era CDC migrant expulsion protocol. Seattle to pay $2.3M to whistleblowers who helped reveal that then-Mayor Durkan’s texts were deleted in 2020
Seattle will pay $2.3m to employees who helped reveal Mayor Jenny Durkan's deleted text messages during 2020 Black Lives Matter protests. Stacy Irwin and Kimberly Ferreiro said they were mistreated for raising concerns about how the office managed public record requests, including the mayor's texts. Irwin described feeling relieved to "end a dark chapter in her life", but stays upset taxpayers are footing the bill while "officials basically got away with it". The New American: 35,000 Displaced in North India's Anti-Christian Riots - The New American
35,000 Displaced in North India's Anti-Christian Riots - The New American
Approximately 35,000 residents have been displaced and 62 people have died in violent clashes over political, economic, and educational benefits in the northeastern Indian state of Manipur between the Meitei people and around 30 other tribes. Police and military forces are currently transporting displaced residents back to their homes or the remains of their homes. The Meitei want India to allocate less land and fewer government jobs for tribal residents and end affirmative action programs, which has caused protests from tribal communities who oppose government attempts to remove them from their ancestral lands and forests. Christians in Manipur have accused the Meitei mob of razing dozens of churches and hundreds of homes. The Syro Malabar Catholic Church has lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi for keeping mum while homes and churches were burned and stated that other Christian organizations in India hoped to sustain good ties with Modi’s government, thus these groups sought to address the crisis delicately.

Officials have defended the decision, citing improved accuracy and more efficient deployment, which they say doesn't slow down passenger traffic through security checkpoints (, ).

The New American: EU Parliament Extends Ukraine Tariff Suspension as Zelensky Threatens Russia - The New American
EU Parliament Extends Ukraine Tariff Suspension as Zelensky Threatens Russia - The New American
MEPs have renewed the suspension of agricultural tariffs on Ukrainian imports, despite ongoing tensions between the European Commission and Eastern European member states. The extension is scheduled to come into effect on June 6, and will prolong the suspension of EU tariffs on Ukrainian goods for one more year. However, there are concerns that the influx of cheap Ukrainian grain is hurting EU farmers and causing cereal prices to plummet, which have led some member states, including Poland, Hungary and Bulgaria, to enforce temporary bans on Ukrainian grain since mid-April. The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has criticised these “protectionist measures” and argued that they abet Russian actions in Ukraine.

The suspension of agricultural tariffs forms part of the EU’s attempt to ramp up Ukraine’s economy and to ensure a smooth flow of Ukrainian produce. Recently, the situation has become increasingly complicated, with critics accusing Brussels of causing a grain oversupply and harming the livelihoods of farmers in other EU member states. As a result of these issues, Poland, for instance, is grappling with the dilemma of balancing its unflinching support for Ukraine with domestic difficulties. In addition to the continued tension over grain exports, Zelensky has also met with representatives from globalist investment firm BlackRock to discuss the creation of an investment fund for the reconstruction of Ukraine, although the Russian threat continues to loom large over the region.

Forbes: Why Fashion Is Falling Out Of Favor With Gen Z
Why Fashion Is Falling Out Of Favor With Gen Z
Gen Z spending power is immense, but the apparel industry is losing out as their attention is drawn to other industries that prioritize life satisfaction. Beauty and toy sales are gaining in popularity as Gen Z prioritize health and wellness and seek nostalgic pastimes. Dining out, going to the movies, and going on vacation are top areas of interest for this group, but prices are increasing, taking up a larger portion of their already tight budget. Resale and fast fashion platforms are performing well with younger consumers, offering endless options at a lower price. Brands and retailers need to focus on self-expression and personalization to cut through the noise and reach Gen Z on a deeper level.

Forbes: Author Post: Cloud Partnerships And Multi-Year Contracts: Look Before You Leap
Author Post: Cloud Partnerships And Multi-Year Contracts: Look Before You Leap
Big tech companies spend millions on cloud computing services like Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure, and increasingly, enterprise companies are turning to them as well. However, the big three are encouraging multi-year deals in exchange for a minimal annual spend from large enterprises, which could result in committing to spending millions without understanding the full consequences of doing so. Cloud technology should be chosen based on a number of factors and should not be chosen in the name of economies of scale, discounts, or strategic partnerships. Companies should focus on the workloads that will be cost-efficient and can take advantage of native cloud services rather than agreeing to long-term costs without knowing whether the partner is the right one for the job.
