Illegal Immigrants Bused to Vice President’s Home Once Again as Title 42 Ends
A bus carrying illegal immigrants arrived at the U.S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. on Mother’s Day, near the residence of Vice President Kamala Harris, who has been criticized by Texas Governor Greg Abbott for her management of the crisis at the U.S.–Mexico border. Abbott has sent buses of illegal immigrants to Harris’s residence several times, including on Christmas Eve, and has deployed the Texas Tactical Border Force since the expiration of Title 42. The Biden administration has acknowledged the challenges ahead with its end, but claimed to be prepared to meet the anticipated influx of illegal migrants at the border.

A special election on Aug. 15 will decide who fills Fletcher’s seat, with costs of $3-5.2 million if both primary and general special elections are conducted. National Review: FBI Ignored Possibility That Steele Dossier Was Russian Disinformation, Durham Confirms
FBI Ignored Possibility That Steele Dossier Was Russian Disinformation, Durham Confirms
John Durham revealed in a new report that the FBI did not investigate whether the Steele Dossier was Russian disinformation. Igor Danchenko, the source of the dossier's "intel," had been the subject of previous FBI counterintelligence investigations due to his connections with Russian intelligence officers, but the FBI did not disclose this to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) when it applied for a FISA warrant to surveil Carter Page. Durham filed a false-statement case against Danchenko last year, but he was acquitted. The special counsel asserted that the DOJ and the FBI did not have “any actual evidence of collusion” between Russian officials and Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, and began their Crossfire Hurricane probe of Trump’s campaign based on “raw, unanalyzed, and uncorroborated intelligence.”

Qld Police Cleared to Use Banned 'Sleeper' Chokehold
Queensland police have overturned ban on “sleeper” chokehold after just a month, clarifying its use in dangerous situations, despite advocacy group opposition. The use of the lateral vascular neck restraint (LVNR) had been banned after a 12-month review which brought the state in line with others, but the Queensland Police Union had challenged the ban citing the need to protect officers. Police insist the clarification does not signal a change in policy. The LVNR involves compressing the neck’s blood artery and vein supply to the brain, leading to altered consciousness.

Nolte: Democrat-Run Asheville Finally Forced to Confront Devastating Crime Surge
Asheville, North Carolina embraced the defund the police movement, leading to the loss of almost 100 police officers during the BLM and Antifa riots in 2020. The city lost 50% of its detectives, leading to a rise in violence and crime, making the downtown districts "nearly lawless." After 3 years, the Democrats who run Asheville have announced a downtown safety initiative to address the rise in crime, which includes increasing police presence in public parks and the removal of needles and biological waste, something they were not doing previously.

The Epoch Times: GOP Presidential Candidates Reacts to Durham Report: 'Shut Down the FBI'
GOP Presidential Candidates Reacts to Durham Report: 'Shut Down the FBI'
Republicans respond to the release of special counsel John Durham’s report, which criticizes the FBI’s handling of the Trump campaign investigation in the run-up to the 2016 election. Both Perry Johnson and Ramaswamy welcome the report's outcome as proof of corruption and politicized abuse of power and encourage shutting down the FBI. Governor Ron DeSantis also made comments on his Twitter account, reminding us of the need to clean house at the FBI. The long-awaited Durham Report challenges the FBI’s handling of the investigation (known as “Crossfire Hurricane”), implicating errors in renewing secret-court warrants on Carter Page, lack of checking with other intelligence agencies, and failing to use standard analytical tools.

FLASHBACK: Ex-NYT writer skewers media's coverage of Russiagate ahead of Durham Report
Former NYT journalist Jim Gerth's critique of the media's coverage of Trump-Russia probe is vindicated after Special Counsel John Durham's report concluded FBI should not have launched collusion investigation. Gerth's retrospective in Columbia Journalism Review examined news organizations' roles in elevating Russiagate, pointing out the way in which they "conflated" two strands of interference in US election & alleged relationship between Russia & Trump campaign. Durham's report asserted that FBI & DOJ veered from its own standards based on "raw, unanalyzed and uncorroborated intelligence."

Mexican President Refuses to Talk Cartel Violence During Border Visit
President Lopez Obrador visited the border cities of Matamoros and Reynosa to inspect customs offices' progress. He refused to address growing cartel violence and trusted the current governor. Locals shouted for help in finding loved ones and better working conditions but were only briefly acknowledged. Breitbart Texas and other journalists asked about violence but received the response to "have patience." The visit was private. The security detail did not allow business leaders or local media to attend meetings. The Matamoros Mayor was not invited, but the Reynosa Mayor was. During both visits, politicians refused to talk about the cartel violence. Breitbart Texas has previously reported on the Gulf Cartel's and Los Zetas's turf wars in Tamaulipas and the state's police forces' avoidance of confronting cartel gunmen. Local relationships between state officials and criminal organizations have been reported as well.

The Epoch Times: New Bill to Ban ‘Sell By’ Date on Food Labels in California Receiving Bipartisan Support
New Bill to Ban ‘Sell By’ Date on Food Labels in California Receiving Bipartisan Support
Assembly Bill 660, authored by Assemblywoman Jacqui Irwin (D-Thousand Oaks), aims to reduce food waste in California by eliminating "sell by" dates on food packaging and replacing them with clearer and more precise labels such as "best if used by" or "use by." The bill has passed two committees and is currently waiting to be heard in a third. Data from the Food and Drug Administration suggests that the confusion caused by current date stickers is responsible for around 20% of food waste in the US. If passed, the bill could save 265 billion gallons of water and prevent nearly 800,000 tons of food waste entering landfills nationwide each year.
