The Federalist Papers: Biden Stops Bike Ride to Pat Himself on the Back and Insult Americans
President Joe Biden admitted that the border crisis is bad when asked to comment on the southern border during a bike ride near his vacation home in Delaware. Biden arrogantly crowed that things were "much better than you all expected" after Title 42 expired, but illegal crossings have soared to historic highs. Title 8 will now return requiring illegal migrants to schedule an immigration appointment or seek asylum in nations they pass through on their way to the US border, but it is essentially toothless since it allows migrants who are already here to be released without a court date or a means for authorities to track them.
Biden's proclamation occurred after Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas claimed illegal border crossings dropped 50% in the two days after Title 42 expired. However, border apprehensions reached a daily record-high of 10,300 last Tuesday, and a stunning 67,759 illegal aliens were apprehended at the border last week. The unprecedented flood of unvetted illegal aliens is accelerating the collapse of America, straining public resources and jeopardizing national security. Biden's blithe chuckle when asked about the crisis underscores that the American people are not his top priority.

Newsbusters: NO THANKS: New Twitter CEO Once Pushed Elon Musk to Reinstate Orwellian ‘Influence Council’
Newly appointed World Economic Forum-tied CEO of Twitter tried to get Elon Musk to commit to reinstating Orwellian censorship structures from the old regime during an interview. Then-NBCUniversal Chair of Global Advertising Linda Yaccarino pressed Musk on whether he would pledge to reinstate an “influence council” for advertisers. Musk flat-out rejected Yaccarino’s attempts to corner him and asserted that freedom of speech is paramount. He also questioned his decision to appoint a liberal individual to lead a platform apparently not committed to protecting free speech.
Fox News: DeSantis press secretary leaves governor's office to join political operation
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is gaining more attention as a potential presidential candidate in 2024. Bryan Griffin, the press secretary for the Executive Office of the Governor, is stepping down to join DeSantis' political operation. Griffin believes DeSantis is the only leader who can help deliver success to the country at this critical moment in American history. While he has not declared a run for the White House, DeSantis has amassed a significant political war chest and attracted crowds during several out-of-state visits, particularly in early GOP primary states.
DeSantis has highlighted important achievements in Florida, including legislation to crack down on ESG regulation, DEI initiatives, and rejecting politicized education. Griffin emphasized that these accomplishments could be replicated nationwide. DeSantis' previous press secretary, Christina Pushaw, also left last August to join his political operation. DeSantis' increased political activity and the departure of high-profile staff suggest that he is eyeing a White House bid in 2024.
Red State: Ron DeSantis Responds Accordingly After J.B. Pritzker Says He's Not Welcome in Illinois
Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker took aim at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis ahead of a Peoria Lincoln Day Dinner, but DeSantis didn't let the attack slide, pointing out the hypocrisy of Pritzker's family spending time in Florida while he locked down his own state. DeSantis has repeatedly faced criticism from blue-state politicians while seeing residents from those same states flock to Florida to enjoy its freedoms. Despite their protests, DeSantis continues to beat them at their own games.

Daily Wire: Critics Pile On Over Reports Of Homeless Vets Getting Kicked Out Of NY Hotels To Accommodate Migrants
Homeless veterans are being evicted from New York hotels to make room for migrants being bused north out of the city. Leaders from both parties are outraged at the situation, which has left veterans without housing. New York is already spending millions to house thousands of migrants and is now relocating them to Orange County, leading to concerns from locals and officials. This situation has caused alarm not just due to displaced veterans but also wedding parties losing reservations. The city has responded by saying that Orange County will manage less than a quarter of one percent of asylum seekers without cost to them.
The Epoch Times: Highlighting Endangered Heritage Crafts in the UK
Three traditional crafts, including coppersmithing, have been classified as "critically endangered" in the UK, with a total of 146 crafts at risk of disappearance listed on the 2021 "Red List of Endangered Crafts" by the Heritage Crafts Association. The charity defines a heritage craft as a "practice which employs manual dexterity and skill and an understanding of traditional materials, design, and techniques, and which has been practiced for two or more successive generations." The causes of endangerment include an aging demographic, limited training opportunities, and low financial viability. However, Heritage Crafts helps fund training opportunities and aims to prevent the extinction of traditional crafts.
Heritage Crafts Association updates the "Red List of Endangered Crafts" in the UK every year. The 2021 list, funded by The Pilgrim Trust with sponsorship from The Royal Mint, highlights the endangered and critically endangered heritage crafts that are threatened with disappearing. Alongside recording the oral histories that have surrounded threatened crafts, Heritage Crafts Association has helped fund training opportunities to ensure traditional crafts do not disappear, including for the now "critically endangered" craft of tinsmithing, which has been kept alive by metalworkers.
Fox News: Hero kid who saved busload of children credits lack of cellphone
A seventh-grader in Michigan, Dillon Reeves, saved students on a school bus from getting hurt during a collision after the driver, who had reported feeling dizzy, passed out while driving. Reeves grabbed the wheel and stopped the bus from veering into oncoming traffic. Reeves had missed the incident as he wasn’t on his cellphone at the time. Reeves was commended on social media by the Warren mayor and Michigan governor. The school district called his action “an extraordinary act of courage and maturity”. Reeves' father stated that his son could probably handle driving a car because he had driven golf carts earlier.
Fox News: Kid Rock a top donor to Daniel Penny's defense in NYC subway chokehold death
Kid Rock and Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy have made significant donations to the legal defense fund of Marine veteran Daniel Penny, who was charged with second-degree manslaughter in the choking death of Jordan Neely, a man with mental health issues who was causing a disturbance on a New York City subway. The GiveSendGo fundraiser has raised over $2 million to defend Penny. Many contributors believe that Neely should have been institutionalized or incarcerated at the time of the incident on May 1, 2023. Others view Penny's actions as heroic while his supporters believe that he was protecting other passengers.
The incident has divided the public, with some New Yorkers calling Penny a hero and others seeking justice for Neely. Neely had a history of violent attacks in the subway and was on the Department of Homeless Services' Top 50 list of homeless people most in need of help. Donations poured in to Penny’s defense fund, with one donation of $20,000 made by Chicago native and political commentator Tim Pool.

The Epoch Times: Top Republican Demands Transcribed Interviews With State Department Officials on 'Chaotic' Afghanistan Withdrawal
The House Foreign Affairs Committee has requested on-the-record interviews with five current and former State Department officials regarding the Biden administration’s withdrawal from Afghanistan. Chairman Michael McCaul announced his panel's request for interviews with the individuals whom the committee believes have important information critical to uncovering the reasons for the "chaotic and deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan". McCaul threatened to hold Secretary of State Antony Blinken in contempt of Congress, and said that the committee is prepared to take necessary steps to enforce its subpoena. The State Department has not appropriately complied with the committee's subpoena, McCaul asserted, and has repeatedly requested the same documents from the department since starting its investigation.

The Epoch Times: Chinese Warships Circle Japan Amid Missile Defense System Deployment
China's People Liberation Army Navy ships, including a guided missile destroyer, have been circling Japan-controlled islands in an apparent show of force following Japan's missile defence system deployment. The close proximity of the PAC-3 surface-to-air missile defence system on Miyako Island to Taiwan has angered China. Japan's Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, has appealed to G-7 leaders to help to counter the threats posed by communist China and North Korea; they have called for a peaceful resolution of cross-Strait issues.

Forbes: Profiting From Paid Loyalty: 5 Rules From Panera, Walmart And P.F. Chang’s
Paid loyalty programs are an emerging trend with 95% of retailers considering launching a paid program, according to Clarus Commerce. McKinsey & Co. found that members of paid loyalty programs are 60% more likely to spend. Starbucks expects $3 billion in stored value card loads during the holiday season in 2022, with rewards members accounting for 57% of its US revenue. Paid programs are a reliable revenue stream that can offset the costs of running the program, as well as being the ultimate form of loyalty and funding.
However, paid rewards programs may not make sense for all companies and the benefit must be simple to understand, worth the price of admission and easy to explain. The retailer must also have an established loyalty platform that can keep its promise, track member preferences and expectations and absorb the numbers. Paid programs will likely have fewer members, so companies should have the economies to support a smaller market.
WND: Cost estimates for Biden's green law explode by hundreds of billions
President Biden's plan to subsidize green energy will cost American taxpayers much more than predicted earlier. The new estimate from Goldman Sachs said that the cost of those incentives over 10 years will be around $1.2 trillion. Meanwhile, Democrats passed the energy and healthcare spending law in August last year without Republican support. And now researchers at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School have estimated that projected spending on the energy and climate provisions will be around $1.05 trillion through 2032, up from an earlier estimate that the cost would be closer to $385 billion.
Sen. Joe Manchin has charged that Biden is "liberalizing" some of the law's requirements determining eligibility for tax credits and bonus credits, while Republicans have suggested repealing a multitude of Biden's energy tax credits and other programs. Meanwhile, taxpayers are footing a bill for these tax breaks that are hundreds of billions above what they were told; the original Congressional Budget Office guesses about the costs were wildly off base. Whistleblower magazine argued that today's US public school system has become a far-left ideological, political and religious indoctrination center aimed at reprogramming and transforming America's children, with even the “3 R’s” – reading, writing and arithmetic – now being corrupted with “woke," “1984”-style madness.
The Epoch Times: Oil Prices Rise as Concerns About US Economy Persist
Oil prices rose on Monday after four consecutive weeks of declines, but market sentiment is expected to remain lukewarm due to concerns about the American economy. Brent crude oil was trading at $75.42 per barrel and West Texas Intermediate at $71.28, due to worries that the United States could slip into a recession as it edges toward a historic default next month. Some experts expect oil markets to remain “tepid” in the near term. Meanwhile, the scheduled supply tightening by OPEC and its allies like Russia is expected to provide support to oil prices.
Goldman Sachs expects oil prices to rise above $100 per barrel this year due to sanctions against Russian oil exports and rising demand from China, and due to a lack of investment in oil production to meet the rising demand. Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) introduced a bill seeking to amend the Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 to make oil-producing and exporting cartels illegal, but analysts are skeptical about whether the bill will pass Congress at a time when oil prices are relatively low. The US Chamber of Commerce announced its opposition to the bill, warning that it might create an uncomfortable precedent, eliminating sovereign immunity for one action of a state or its agents.

The Epoch Times: Study Links Heavy Cannabis Use to Schizophrenia in Young Men
Cannabis use disorder increases the risk of schizophrenia in young men, according to a study examining health records of 6.9 million people in Denmark aged 16-49 from 1972 to 2021. While the association between cannabis use disorder (CUD) and schizophrenia was found to impact both genders, the latter had a stronger association with CUD thanks to lower CUD prevalence among women. The report suggested as many as 30% of schizophrenia cases among men aged 21-30 could be prevented by avoiding CUD, with 15% of schizophrenia cases in men aged 16-49 and 4% of those affecting women in the same age range also potentially being averted. Previous research had suggested heavy cannabis use or increasing in potency of cannabis could be contributing factors.

On The Water: Three Lures for Stripers on Bunker Schools
Fishing for trophy stripers in the Northeast is exhilarating when using large artificial lures like flutter spoons, topwater walkers, and stickbaits to target big bass feeding on bunker schools. Regulations limiting commercial harvesting of bunker have led to an abundance of the forage fish, creating a challenging environment for trophy striper fishing. The flutter spoon, a freshwater-to-saltwater crossover lure, is a popular choice due to its ability to attract fish immediately, while topwater walkers, like The Doc, are effective at raising fish from the depths. Slow-sinking glidebaits or stickbaits work well for that in-between space, while fishing on the edges of the bunker pod is crucial.
