American Thinker: California Dems sowed the reparations wind and are reaping the whirlwind
California's reparations task force has approved a comprehensive plan with a potential total cost of over $1.3 million per person, for those affected by "harms and atrocities" related to slavery and discrimination. This includes health harms ($966,921), mass incarceration and over-policing ($159,792 per year), housing discrimination ($148,099 per person), unjust property takings, devaluation of African American businesses ($77,000 per person), among others. The state wants to offset "slavery's legacy" by switching up institutions such as housing, education, and healthcare, instead of offering cash payments. However, there is no agreement over where the money would come from, and Governor Gavin Newsom's spokesperson corrected reports that he was backing away from cash payments, stating that he wants to wait for the report in its entirety to arrive before making a decision. In response, State Sen. Steven Bradford (D-Los Angeles) warned claimants not to expect huge payouts while the state works out what it can afford. After the announcement, Black Californians are beginning to feel defrauded as the state is currently running out of money, with a $31.5 budget deficit.

However, she has since received criticism for not controlling Trump during a recent town hall on CNN, which has been accused of being unfair to Trump by some and defended by others.
