Fox News: Gavin Newsom's reparations experiment backfires as 2024 speculation swirls
California Governor Gavin Newsom is facing a political predicament over slavery reparations proposed by his own task force. He declined to endorse cash payments, which could reach $1.2 million per recipient, recommended by his reparations task force, arguing that dealing with the legacy of slavery "is about much more than cash payments". Critics argue that Newsom will use the lofty proposal to score political points because he views it as a non-starter in the state legislature.
The total cost of the program is estimated at about $640 billion, exceeding the nearly $300 billion state budget by more than double at a time when the state is facing its first deficit in years. Newsom declined to weigh in on reparations for months, despite the proposal being under discussion for over two years, until the task force's final recommendations will be submitted to the California Legislature, which will then decide whether to implement the measures and send them to Newsom's desk to be signed into law.
American Thinker: It Can't Be Just Women Who Fight the Trans Movement
Conservatives, Americans, and patriots differ from Marxists, feminists, and trans activists because the former reject the idea of collective guilt or responsibility, while the latter envision humanity as an assortment of Borg-like collectives. For Marxists, every individual man or boy shares responsibility for all the bad acts of any man, while women are a competing Borg-cube making its own incessant demands for comfort, status, and power. However, the 1972 defeat of the Equal Rights Amendment and the low support among women for female suffrage show that American women and men think for themselves and resist conforming to a hive-minded view of humanity.
Limiting leadership or participation to women only in the fight against feminism and trans activism would rob the cause of numbers and skills. Women's lack of natural talent in strategy and leadership shows in completely nonphysical conflict activities like chess and esports, and historically documented all-women military units have failed to offer hope for the potential of female strategic genius. Instead, men and women should join forces to fight against feminist and trans incursions in our culture and acknowledge and honor each other's distinct contributions.
American Thinker: Trump cancels his Iowa rally… and DeSantis trolls him there
Trump's rally in Des Moines, Iowa was cancelled due to a tornado warning in the area, but critics claimed the real reason was poor attendance. Trump had to act on the warning when it was at its most alarming, and it was reported that 5,000 people were expected to attend, which is on the small side for a Trump rally. Trump's opponent in the GOP race, Ron DeSantis, capitalised on the opportunity and made an unscheduled stop at a popular BBQ joint nearby, before criticising Trump's leadership style at a rally in western Iowa.
Many are speculating whether Trump peaked too early by announcing his run for president so early in the cycle, with supporters already claiming the race is over and scaring potential rivals like DeSantis away. Trump does have a devoted following that comprises a large share of the GOP base, but he will need to gain the support of uncommitted voters, and it is unclear whether continuing courtroom stress will draw them in or alienate them. The GOP race is still on.

Fox News: The WORST Mothers Day gifts, according to moms
New York moms speak out on the worst Mother’s Day gifts, with Evelyn saying "Another baby, maybe," and Dominika wanting to avoid a horrible day from the start. Some, such as Razia, said they'd be happy with “getting nothing actually,” while others knew exactly what they wanted for Mother’s Day, such as a spa treatment, brunch, or a night alone at a hotel.
More than 80% of Americans plan to celebrate Mother’s Day in some way this year, according to a National Retail Federation survey. And while some moms are focused on avoiding household chores or unhealthy food gifts, others are simply happy to celebrate the day with any present given to them.
