Just The News: U.S. officials admit losing ‘operational control’ of border, drug cartels poised to seize it
Illegal crossings at the southern US border have exploded to a record 10,000 a day, as the pandemic-related Title 42 order allowing migrants to be turned away expired. Border officials say illegal crossings will soon shoot up to between 11,000 and 16,000 daily causing concern that the drug cartels will have full control of the border once the number of border patrol agents is reduced to just 10%. Officials warn that illegal drug trafficking and human trafficking will also increase, with the expansion of cartels posing serious risks for both Mexico and the US.
The Biden administration is doubling down on its policies, ignoring criticism from prominent Democrats and putting into place policies that allow the release of illegal aliens into the country. However, the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism And Responses to Terrorism warns that the growth in criminal density and geographical expansion of transnational criminal organisations across Mexico and the Northern Triangle, will produce instability and pose a significant threat to US homeland security.

Just The News: Several of 51 ex-intel officials who signed Biden laptop letter donated to Biden, Democrats
A group of 51 ex-intelligence officials who signed a letter before the 2020 US presidential election insinuating that the Hunter Biden laptop was Russian disinformation appear to have made donations to President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign or other Democratic causes, according to Federal Election Commission filings. At least 12 of the letter’s signatories donated to Biden’s campaign, based on employment and location information listed in the filings. The letter, which has recently re-emerged, was reportedly triggered by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, then a Biden campaign adviser, and former Acting CIA Director Michael Morell, who wanted to create a “talking point” to help Biden win the last presidential debate of 2020 and defeat Donald Trump in the election.
Congressional investigators have been critical of the letter and are demanding answers from Blinken, who tried to distance himself from it. However, it has emerged that an active-duty CIA official may have encouraged signatories to sign the letter. Operation of this kind by the CIA would be illegal, and it may have been conducted under the leadership of former Director Gina Haspel. The letter has sparked renewed criticism that it was a political operation coordinated with the Biden campaign to influence the 2020 election.
WND: Trump staying the course on pro-life agenda
President Trump is staying true to his pro-life stance for his 2024 presidential bid, according to a report by the Family Research Council. FRC President Tony Perkins, who met with Trump alongside SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser and Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C. said that they encouraged the former President to remain committed to the sanctity of human life. Perkins said that there were some mischaracterizations of Trump's comments, as a campaign official had previously said in May that he believed abortion "should be decided at the state level."
Trump is currently the Republican front-runner for the nomination, with a majority of Americans indicating that they do not want Joe Biden to run again in 2024. Republican Party platforms have been specific on pro-life issues. The most recent platform calls for support of state and federal efforts against cruel forms of abortion, adoption of a Human Life Amendment to the Constitution, and passing pro-life legislation against dismemberment abortions and those based on a child's sex or disability diagnosis.

Foreign Policy: Why Netflix’s ‘Queen Cleopatra’ Has Egypt up in Arms
Egypt has long been frustrated by Western appropriation of its ancient heritage, including the latest Cleopatra controversy surrounding the casting of a Black British actress. President Kennedy in the 1960s appropriated ancient Egyptian civilization to justify U.S. taxpayer money being spent on preserving Nubian monuments. This pattern can be traced back to colonialism and has persisted, disenfranchising modern Egyptians from their own history and culture.
However, some Egyptians themselves have promoted ideas about an Egyptian race-based identity that exclude minorities and align with xenophobic nationalism. The key question is how to address issues of race in the production and dissemination of knowledge about ancient Egypt, including involving Egyptian academics in producing and writing this history and reframing the focus on ownership and inclusivity over race.
