Independent Sentinel: NY Is Kicking Homeless Vets Out of Hotels to Place Illegal Crossers
NY Is Kicking Homeless Vets Out of Hotels to Place Illegal Crossers
NYC is evicting homeless veterans from hotels to make room for illegal aliens. The veterans were told that their temporary housing was getting pulled out from under them and that they'd have to move on to another spot. The hotels did not explicitly say the vets had to move because of the migrants, but it was clear to the CEO of the foundation helping them that it was the case. All 20 veterans have ended up at a Hudson Valley hotel about 20 minutes away, where they will stay until they find permanent housing.

Sharon Toney-Finch, a disabled military veteran and CEO of the foundation helping the homeless veterans, created the foundation to raise awareness of premature births, as well as helping the homeless and low-income military service veterans in need of living assistance. She said that one of the vets called her on Sunday and told her he had to leave because the hotel said the extended stay was not available. Then another vet called her, and they wasted no time in organizing when and where to move them all. Toney-Finch asked The Post not to name the site where the veterans are staying.

Red State: AP Lies About DeSantis, Gets Ratioed So Hard They Issue an Update
AP Lies About DeSantis, Gets Ratioed So Hard They Issue an Update
Ron DeSantis, the Florida Governor, was accused by Associated Press (AP) of making little effort to connect with voters one-on-one at a picnic fundraiser in Sioux Center, Iowa, where he gave a speech. Despite this, photos and videos posted online showed DeSantis shaking hands, taking selfies, and chatting with supporters in the crowd after his speech. He even stayed afterward to cook hamburgers and thank volunteers.

The media has a preferred narrative about every major Republican, and for DeSantis, it's that he's unlikable and can't connect with voters. However, this is false, as demonstrated by his past political victories and the evidence of his interactions with supporters at the Iowa picnic. The media's attempt to push this false narrative is likely driven by their fear of DeSantis being the 2024 Republican nominee.

The Right Scoop: SHOT ACROSS THE BOW: Gov DeSantis takes aim at Trump in 2024 comment
SHOT ACROSS THE BOW: Gov DeSantis takes aim at Trump in 2024 comment
DeSantis takes dig at Trump, warns Republicans to focus on future, not past. Victory is key and Republicans must reject the culture of losing, says DeSantis. If the 2024 election focuses on Joe Biden's failures and a positive alternative for the future is provided, Republicans will win, but if they get distracted, Democrats will beat them again.

Human Events: Paris bans Joan of Arc parade over fears of ‘extreme right’ protests
Paris bans Joan of Arc parade over fears of ‘extreme right’
protests
Paris Police have banned the annual tribute to St. Joan of Arc held by the royalist movement Action Française. The group has held the tribute since 1912 and plans to file an appeal using a special procedure of référé-liberté. This ban comes after Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin requested the banning of demonstrations from "the ultra-Right or the extreme Right" on May 9th, in response to criticism for allowing Neo-Nazis to march earlier this month.

In response, Action Française accused President Emmanuel Macron of using this ban to limit political freedom. Despite the ban, the group plans to continue their 111-year tradition, and noted that it is the administrative judge who is "the guarantor of our freedoms."

National Review: The Corner: Electric Vehicles: Consumer Hesitation
The Corner: Electric Vehicles: Consumer Hesitation
Data from J.D. Power shows that while the long-term trend in electric vehicle (EV) market share has grown significantly, sales hit a speed bump in March with monthly market share falling to 7.3%. The increase in the percentage of consumers who are "very unlikely" to consider an EV for their next vehicle purchase reflects persistent concerns about charging infrastructure and vehicle pricing. Lack of public charging infrastructure and price have been the top two concerns for the past 10 months. Meanwhile, Ford reported a loss of $722 million on its EV business over the first three months of 2023, with the costs of making EVs not falling, but increasing by 7% last year. Ford made 61,575 EVs in 2022, losing about $34,000 on every EV it sold last year and $66,446 on every EV it sold from January to March this year. The U.S. auto sector is rallying behind the EV sector due to the billions carmakers are pouring into the sector, but if it does not work, it could be catastrophic.

The Epoch Times: Officials From Across America Commemorate World Falun Dafa Day
Officials From Across America Commemorate World Falun Dafa Day
Falun Dafa, a spiritual practice involving meditative exercises and moral teachings, has been recognized by officials in various U.S. states and locales for its positive contributions to society. Many proclamations credit the practice's slow-moving exercises and core principles of truth, compassion, and forbearance as the source of its benefits to individuals, families, and communities. Adherents' efforts to share the practice's benefits with communities through free workshops have also been highlighted. While some federal politicians have voiced their appreciation of the spiritual practice, others have pointed out the contrast of brutal persecution by the Chinese communist regime.

Falun Gong practitioners have celebrated World Falun Dafa Day with parades in several cities across the US. Many county- and city-level proclamations have highlighted the health effects of Falun Gong, particularly during post-pandemic times. One Chinese businesswoman who experienced negative side effects from receiving a COVID-19 vaccine turned to Falun Gong after her symptoms deteriorated. Her test results showed significant improvement after practicing the exercises, and her symptoms eventually went away completely.

Bill Browder: ‘Since the Magnitsky Act, Putin has been on a Personal Vendetta to Destroy Me’ | British Thought Leaders
The man and woman fell in love under the Parisian moon. They walked along the Seine river, hand in hand, sharing sweet kisses. But as the night grew darker and the moon disappeared behind the clouds, they said their goodbyes and went their separate ways, unsure if they would ever see each other again.

Years went by and the man found himself back in Paris, searching for the woman who had stolen his heart. It took him days, but finally, as he walked along the same streets they had once walked together, he saw her. They ran towards each other like long lost friends, and as they embraced, they both knew that they would never let each other go again.

The Epoch Times: Damar Hamlin Will Put the Millions Raised Into His Charity
Damar Hamlin Will Put the Millions Raised Into His Charity
Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin plans to use the $10 million donated by well-wishers after his on-field collapse to fund his own nonprofit, the Chasing M’s Foundation. Hamlin’s plan for the outpouring of support includes sharing news about programs the foundation is creating to impact a generation of youth and give back to others, and donating weekly or daily to the fundraiser is a measure of the emotional power and connection Hamlin has with so many. Hamlin’s family arranged for The Giving Back Fund to act as a fiscal sponsor for the funds given to GoFundMe, allowing his team to fundraise as a charitable entity, and it was incorporated as a nonprofit in Pennsylvania in May 2020.

Records filed with the Pennsylvania Secretary of State show that Hamlin applied on May 1 to update Chasing M’s articles of incorporation, including its mission to support the aspirations of youth and community members through sports, education, and other activities, and to promote health and safety in sports through CPR and AED training. Few donors to Hamlin’s GoFundMe will likely have a significant interest in claiming a tax deduction for their gift since, due to changes in the tax law made in 2017, only those who itemize their taxes, around 11 percent of filers, may claim deductions for charitable contributions. GoFundMe continues to hold the funds given to Hamlin’s campaign and will do so until he requests that they be transferred.

Fox News: LeBron James appears to roast Warriors player who called Lakers out for flopping
LeBron James appears to roast Warriors player who called Lakers out for flopping
LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers to a series-clinching win over the Golden State Warriors, with the Lakers advancing to the Western Conference finals. In an Instagram post celebrating the victory, James included pictures from the matchup and a quote from a Drake song that some speculate was directed at Warriors bench player JaMychal Green.

James did not respond verbally to Green's posts about him during the series, but the Lakers are moving on to face the Denver Nuggets in the conference finals. James scored at least 21 points in every game against the Warriors and seems to be focusing on the task ahead. Game 1 of the Lakers-Nuggets series is set for Tuesday night.
