Fox News: 'Shut down the border immediately': DeSantis addresses migrant surge amid end of Title 42 pandemic measure
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has called for the immediate closure of the Southern border and renewed construction of border walls to stop the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs into the US. Speaking at a GOP event in Iowa, DeSantis declared that the situation has led to deaths, primarily caused by Mexican drug cartels and the flow of deadly fentanyl. He added that it is unacceptable to have foreigners decide when to enter the country, and the US has every right to secure its borders.
DeSantis' call for border security comes as officials set daily records for the number of illegal immigrant encounters in the days after the Trump-era public health order Title 42 expired. Amidst the influx, Border Patrol officials had to quickly release individuals and sought to release some without a court date. DeSantis has been building political staff while touring early voting states like Iowa and New Hampshire, amid growing signs that he will enter the 2024 presidential race, where former President Donald Trump is the frontrunner.

Flag And Cross: Russell Brand Absolutely Torches Hillary Clinton, Dems for Hypocrisy on Election Fraud
Comedian Russell Brand has criticized Democrats for only talking about election integrity and security when their favored candidates lose, and then demanding Republicans to admit that elections are fair. He points out that both sides have contested election results in the past and that the problem is deeply systemic due to corporate and deep state interests manipulating the electoral and democratic process.
Brand argues that the media should concede that both parties tout election security and integrity, but only Republicans consistently push for tighter security and integrity audits. He believes that the problem is not deniers of legitimate election results but rather the ability of powerful interests to manipulate democracy to the point where it is merely a facade.
Red State: Elon Lets Loose and Levels Liberal Matty Yglesias Over Twitter Speech, Turkey's Election
Turkey is holding a crucial election on Sunday, with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan potentially facing defeat. Opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu, who leads the Republican People’s Party, has led a coalition of six parties looking to remove Erdogan from power. Erdogan appears to have realised his position is under threat, having authorised payment for 3,000 soon-to-be-out-of-work administrators for two years. If Erdogan is replaced, it will mark a huge positive change for Turkey, but his built-in advantages, control of the media, state resources, and loyal supporters, mean that the outcome is far from guaranteed.
On the eve of the election, Twitter announced it would restrict some content in Turkey following a legal process. There is no guarantee that the country's laws on speech will align with those of the US, leading to fears that all of Twitter could be barred from the country. Twitter CEO Elon Musk and reporter Matthew Yglesias debated whether Twitter should comply with the laws instead of advocating for free speech, and Musk questioned whether Twitter should be throttled entirely or access should be limited to some tweets. The conflict highlights a broader issue around free speech and the need for vigilance to ensure that platforms do not revert to restricting conservative voices, as with Twitter 1.0.
Flag And Cross: Civil Rights Attorney Sends Alvin Bragg a Message About Using 'The Race Card' in Jordan Neely Case
A Los Angeles civil rights attorney has accused Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg of playing the "race card" in announcing charges against the Marine who put a homeless man in a fatal chokehold. Daniel Penny, a Marine Corps veteran, was charged with second-degree manslaughter on Thursday in connection with the death of 30-year-old Jordan Neely. Many have come to Penny's defense, with a GiveSendGo fundraiser raising over $960,000 to pay for his legal fees. However, left-wing protesters have likened Neely's death to that of George Floyd's.
During a segment on Fox News' "The Story with Martha MacCallum," attorney Leo Terrell criticized Bragg, whom he referred to as a "far-left" DA, for offering Penny up to the crowds "like a sacrificial lamb." Terrell argued that charges against Penny were racially and politically motivated, questioning why the Marine was charged while other individuals involved in the incident were not. Terrell also criticized the lack of mental health services provided to Neely and other individuals in minority communities, stating that they are being ignored by those who are running the cities.
American Thinker: A lot of red flags surround Linda Yaccarino, Elon Musk’s new Twitter CEO
Elon Musk has been working to bring free speech back to Twitter by restoring banned accounts and allowing censored words and thoughts. However, there is now concern about his recent hiring of Linda Yaccarino as Twitter's new CEO. Yaccarino is tied to the World Economic Forum and her left-leaning views on free speech have alarmed free-speech supporters who fear she may be the Fifth Columnist at Twitter.
Despite Yaccarino's background and statements, Musk has promised to defend free speech and has posted conservative messages to reassure people. Some believe Yaccarino may be a woman of great skill and no principles who will do anything her employer asks, while others fear she may be a true leftist believer. Ultimately, the hope is that if Musk wants free speech, Yaccarino will give it to him as long as he signs her paycheck.

PJ Media: Is This Why Transgenderism Is Exploding in American Public Schools?
Audrey Hale's shooting at Nashville's Covenant School on March 27 and the subsequent murder of six individuals drew attention to her "manifesto," which could provide answers to the nature of her actions. The manifesto would shed light on whether gender transition drug treatments were related to her actions. Rep. Andy Ogles believes there should be an investigation into the possibility of a connection between her transition and her actions, as the treatment can cause dangerous or deadly side effects.
The growing trend of transgender identification among youth was noted during a recent debate, where a left-leaning teacher who identified as trans confirmed the trend. The US and UK have seen a significant rise in gender dysphoria among children and are currently experiencing an increase in the number of transgender-identifying students. Social media pressure is considered one reason behind the increase, but public school teachers and administrators and Far-Left advocacy groups, particularly the Human Rights Campaign, are also responsible for funding the movement's resources. The Thrive Conference by HRC trains thousands of youth-serving professionals annually on "creating safe, inclusive, and welcoming environments for LGBTQ+ youth," with comprehensive lesson plans now used in thousands of public elementary and middle school classrooms.
Newsbusters: PBS Getting Heat for Pushing Transgender Activism on Children Via 'Learning Toolkit'
PBS has faced criticism for allegedly pushing a gender agenda onto children through its online content and PBS LearningMedia brand. The Citizens Defending Freedom group has called for PBS to be defunded for promoting an LGBTQ+ ‘toolkit’ for schools created by the NYC Department of Education, and Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt vetoed funding for the state’s PBS station for “indoctrination and over-sexualization” of children. In addition to promoting the toolkit, PBS has also been accused of using emotional blackmail by suggesting that legislation opposing gender ideology leads to teen suicide.
A Trevor Project survey of over 28,000 lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) young people ages 13-24 found that 41% seriously considered suicide in the previous year. Advocates argue that anti-LGBT legislation along with a lack of acceptance by many in society, and in some cases parents, are causing significant mental health challenges for LGBT youth. The survey found that 53% were harassed in school and that transgender and non-binary youth in particular are at higher risk for attempting suicide than their peers. Dr. Jack Turbin, assistant professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco, advocated for parents creating an environment of acceptance and for schools to provide access to accurate information about gender identity and sexual orientation to prevent potential harm caused by secrecy.

Forbes: What Are We Paying Indexers For Being Passive? Part 2
Passive index investing creates index zombies which survive due to guaranteed demand for their stock from indexers, according to this analysis. The author argues that indexing reduces the production of value-relevant information to price stocks by active investors and creates a disconnect between the providers of capital and the firms which receive it. The biggest cost of passive indexing is the subsidising of firms that do not have to fight for capital and the author argues that in a counterfactual world without such rampant indexing, such zombies would have far lower valuations.
The author also considers the issue of informational inefficiencies after indexing took off, suggesting there is "nobody home" and that the imbalance between passive and active investors means markets cannot be efficient. David Einhorn, the legendary short seller and investor, is quoted as saying markets have become less efficient, with fewer people paying attention to mid and small caps that are not in the "sexiest areas of the market." The author concludes by looking at whether the Big Three actually have a disincentive to govern, why short sellers, activists and sell-side analysts have not filled the void, and summarises a few key takeaways.

Headline USA: French President Macron Defends Painting that Shows Child Rape - Headline USA
French President Emmanuel Macron defended a pornographic painting by Swiss artist Miriam Cahn, depicting child rape. French lawmakers and judges also defended the painting as an expression of artistic freedom and condemned attempts to remove it. The painting, entitled “F*** abstraction,” depicts a faceless adult sexually assaulting a childlike figure orally, and has been widely criticized by children’s rights groups.
Despite petitions and complaints, the painting remained on display in the Paris Museum Palais de Tokyo, until former Front National elected official Pierre Chassin bypassed guards and destroyed it with purple spray paint on May 7.
Forbes: Hold On, ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’ Actually Looks . . . Really Good
The Walking Dead franchise has been mediocre lately, but the trailer for The Walking Dead: Dead City looks exciting. The urban environment in Manhattan and mutated zombies are a change of scenery, and the chemistry between Negan and Maggie is intriguing. The trailer is well-made and the show has potential to revive the franchise.

The New American: Why the Right Must Accelerate the War for the Universities
The fight for universities is a war of immense consequence, impacting the nation's future leadership and society overall. Although Americans may eschew discussions of social classes, the reality is that an American aristocracy exists. The power struggles have historically been between members of the aristocracy, who have the resources, knowledge, leadership ability, and free time to engage in politics successfully.
The globalist cabal has long been aware of the importance of winning over the wealthy and powerful to make things happen for their favor. Consequently, secret societies have long targeted the universities to recruit sons of the rich and groom future decision-makers in society. The Right cannot afford to lose this war for the universities, and they must fight to take back control and even establish their own universities free from leftist influence.
The Epoch Times: ‘We're Preparing to Restart Repayment’: Education Secretary on Federal Student Loans
The Biden administration is preparing to restart the payment of federal student loan debt that was paused amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona. Cardona revealed this during a recent hearing, where he said the emergency period is over and therefore borrowers must prepare to restart payments. Currently, repayments are scheduled to resume either 60 days after June 30 or 60 days after the court ruling if the ruling comes before June 30. This comes after legal challenges to the debt forgiveness plan reached the Supreme Court.
Biden's forgiveness scheme, which would see individuals with an annual income of less than $125,000 who have received a Pell Grant while studying could get up to $20,000 of their student loan debt canceled, has faced criticism from Republicans, with Rep. Burgess Owens warning that the plan will “mortgage our children’s future.” In addition, a budget model of the proposed student loan forgiveness plan made by the Penn Wharton University of Pennsylvania suggests that the cost of the program could come to anywhere between $333 billion and $361 billion over a 10-year period. The Republican-controlled House Education and the Workforce Committee has advanced a resolution aimed at ending Biden's loan forgiveness program.

Fox News: Longtime MLB umpire Don Denkinger dead at 86
Don Denkinger, who worked as a Major League umpire for nearly 30 years, has passed away at the age of 86. Denkinger worked four World Series but is best remembered for a call he got wrong in Game 6 of the 1985 World Series, when he called a Royals pinch hitter safe at first despite being clearly out. The Royals went on to win Game 6 and Game 7 for the World Series title.
Denkinger is one of only seven umpires to work two perfect games and called his final game in 1998. Despite the infamous call, Denkinger remained gracious, saying in a 2014 interview, "Nobody wants to have the call that I did in the World Series. But I did. And now it’s part of history."

The Epoch Times: Illegal Immigration a 'Serious Problem': Analysis of Its Economic Impact
The man went fishing in the early morning mist, his rod and bait at the ready. He cast his line into the water and waited patiently for a bite. Suddenly, there was a tug on the line and he reeled in a large salmon. He smiled to himself as he removed the hook and released the fish back into the water.
Later that day, the man sat by the river, watching the sun set behind the mountains. He savored the silence and beauty of nature, reflecting on the simplicity of life. As the stars emerged in the sky, he packed up his gear and walked back to his cabin, content with his day's catch and the peacefulness of the outdoors.
Flag And Cross: Incredible Video Shows Helicopter Rescue Teen Missing for Days in Glacier National Park
Missing hiker, Matthew Read, was rescued in Glacier National Park, Montana after being reported overdue by his parents on Sunday. Despite the search beginning the same day, rescuers were unable to locate Read until Monday night when a helicopter team spotted him, to which he was only "somewhat responsive". He was airlifted and then taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Read had started hiking the Huckleberry Lookout Trail on Friday, May 5, and was last heard from that day. When he was reported missing on Sunday, more than 30 people including Glacier National Park rangers, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and the Flathead County Sheriff's Office, helped with the search. After locating Read, Two Bear Air Rescue, who took part in the search, wrote on their Facebook page that they were able to spot his slide marks and footprints in the snow, and located him after dark in thick timber with their infrared camera.
