Paxton has denied the allegations and called the ruling "ridiculous," stating plans to appeal. The case follows a series of investigations into Paxton's conduct, including bribery claims and his impeachment in 2023, from which he was acquitted.

The changes, announced during the Autumn Budget, include gradual increases in BiK rates for electric vehicles while maintaining a significant tax advantage over petrol and diesel cars.
From 2025 to 2030, electric vehicle rates will rise from 2% to 9%, while hybrid vehicles will face substantial increases starting in 2028. The government aims to encourage the adoption of fully electric vehicles, expecting these changes to generate an additional £135 million in 2028/29 and £210 million in 2029/30.
