Two U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers, Farlis Almonte and Ricardo Rodriguez, have been charged with accepting bribes to allow undocumented immigrants to enter the U.S. at the San Ysidro Port of Entry. Investigators found evidence linking them to human smugglers and large cash deposits in their accounts.
Almonte was arrested with nearly $70,000 in cash, while Rodriguez's attorney maintains his innocence. This incident is part of a broader issue, as five CBP officers in the San Diego area have faced similar corruption charges in the past two years.
