Le Monde: Coca-Cola, sponsor of the Paris 2024 Olympics and still 'world champion' in plastic pollution
Coca-Cola remains the world's leading plastic polluter, according to a recent ranking by Break Free From Plastic. The ranking is based on the amount of plastic litter collected during organized collection drives in public spaces, and Coca-Cola has topped the list for six straight years. The company's marketing communications have been affected by this status, and although they pledged to reduce their use of virgin plastic by 20% by 2025, they are not currently on track to meet this target. Paris 2024, aiming to reduce the Games' carbon footprint, has pledged to halve the amount of single-use plastic.
