GB News: Drivers issued urgent Highway Code warning as millions of motorists risk breaking road rules
Nearly half of British drivers are unaware of key Highway Code rules established in January 2022 aimed at protecting vulnerable road users, such as pedestrians and cyclists. These rules require drivers to prioritize pedestrians at junctions and maintain safe passing distances for cyclists and horse riders.
Road safety organization GEM Motoring Assist has raised concerns about the lack of understanding among motorists, which could undermine the effectiveness of these safety measures. With significant casualties reported among vulnerable road users in 2023, experts are urging the Government to implement a communication campaign to educate drivers on their responsibilities.

The Telegraph: BBC apologises after calling Hamas hostages prisoners
The BBC has issued an apology after presenter Nicky Schiller referred to Israeli hostages held by Hamas as "prisoners" during a news segment. The three hostages, taken during the October 7 attacks, are set to be released alongside 90 Palestinian prisoners.
The network acknowledged the error in its coverage and clarified the terminology used.
Fox News: Hamas to release 3 more hostages, including US citizen, as part of fragile ceasefire deal
Hamas has released two hostages, Ofer Kalderon and Yarden Bibas, with a third, American-Israeli citizen Keith Siegel, expected to be freed as part of a ceasefire agreement with Israel. Siegel, held since October 7, 2023, is the first American to be released under this deal.
The ceasefire involves a staggered release of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and humanitarian aid to Gaza. Prime Minister Netanyahu has warned Hamas against disruptions, as the fragile truce faces challenges. Additional hostage releases are anticipated in the coming weeks.
