The National Grid has stopped its £17 million T-pylon project after just one installation in Somerset. Residents voiced complaints about noise and flooding, prompting the withdrawal.

Initially seen as a breakthrough in design, the T-pylons are now excluded from future expansion due to high costs and public resistance. 

Despite these challenges, the National Grid maintains that the Hinkley Connection Project will deliver clean electricity to six million homes. However, the company will now return to traditional lattice structures for upcoming projects, signaling a retreat from innovation.
