In the UK, the government has endorsed Karen Carney's recommendations to improve women's football. Carney's independent review emphasized the need for professionalization and a sustainable commercial future for the game. The government has accepted these recommendations and challenged the Football Association (FA) and other stakeholders to set a new standard for women's sport. The plans include implementing world-leading standards, improving talent pathways, addressing diversity, and increasing funding. The FA will be replaced by NewCo, a club-owned organization, to oversee women's professional league football. Furthermore, the government intends to establish a Board of Women's Sports next year to support the growth of women's sport beyond football.
