Starting January 25, 2025, transgender women and non-binary individuals assigned male at birth will be barred from competing in the female category in most domestic tennis competitions due to new rules from the Lawn Tennis Association. The intent is to address perceived physiological advantages that males may hold in sports.

While the LTA supports inclusivity, it recognizes the necessity of traditional gender categories to maintain fairness in competition. The new regulations will not apply to international events like Wimbledon, and local venues can determine their own policies for unspecified competitions.
