A man named Davey Bauer, known as "Double D Davey," underwent a double-lung transplant using breast implants at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago. Bauer, who switched to vaping as a "healthier alternative" to smoking, fell seriously ill and had his infected lungs removed. Surgeons created an artificial lung to keep him alive and used breast implants to keep his heart in place. This new technology could offer hope to critically ill patients who aren't eligible for traditional lung transplants.
